Q: whatbisnthe number next to the 'review' link?

JDługoszI always assumed the number next to the review link was the number of items in the queues, ans its non-matching caused by the queue being emptied (by others) without updating the indicator. But now it's clear that this is not the case. Even reloading the page shows it still at (4), but the queue...

Q: Does [hard-science] imply [science-based] imply [reality-check]?

Michael KjörlingWe currently have 83 questions tagged both reality-check and science-based, and another one question tagged both reality-check and hard-science. The tag wikis excerpts for the tags say, respectively: reality-check: For questions asking whether or not a particular concept is realistic in a g...

What other data queries would be useful? I've got plenty of spare time for the next few weeks so I might as well work on something

12:24 PM
Maybe post a meta question asking for suggestions?

@ArtOfCode Spare time sounds amazing, where do I get some of that?!

@James You can have some of mine :)
@TimB will do, thanks

Something I'd be interested in seeing is how the average up and down votes per question has varied over time. I've a feeling votes were generally easier to come by earlier on in the life of the site but I've not seen any solid evidence to support that.
well per answer as well as per question
i.e. for each day q upvotes + a upvtes / q count + a count
and same for downvotes

nice idea
you could put that in as an answer on the meta post

i nearly did
didn't seem worthy of an answer but guess it makes sense to have a centralized list

Q: What data queries would be useful here?

ArtOfCodeAs I said yesterday in chat, I've got plenty of free time over the coming weeks, so I'm going to try to work on something useful for us. Specifically, SEDE. What statistics could we make use of here? What do we want to know about the habits of the community? You can look at the database schema ...

something else that might be interesting is looking at the distribution of questions with how many answers

3:47 PM
Ha! Got there before you, Community!

i.e. how many questions have 1 answer, how many 2, how many 3, etc

Yeah - SEDE does graphs too so that fits well

4:03 PM
@ArtOfCode Ill give you 5 bucks an hour for spare time.

Hmmm... not bad :)

@ArtOfCode Well you have to sort out how to make the day longer too...

Ah. Nooottt quite so easy.

@ArtOfCode ok ok ok, fine, I realize thats a bit more challening, 7.50 an hour.

@James keep multiplying... xD

4:25 PM
@ArtOfCode 7.75
no wait...7.55

hang on...
You'll get there in approximately 1397398205 years. Ironic, considering that I could increase the day length and reduce that number.

Query #1 done, @TimB's first suggestion: meta.worldbuilding.stackexchange.com/questions/2013/…
@TimB / @MonicaCellio does a list of data queries qualify for faq?
Or anyone's opinion, in fact

Q: Worldbuilding Data Queries

ArtOfCodeThis post is here to house SEDE (StackExchange Data Explorer) queries relating to this site. Originally spawned from this thread. Queries are categorised below depending on the data they look at. If you have written a query and would like it added to the list, just edit it in in the correct cate...

Yet again, Community bot. Getting a bit slow, aren't we?

6:02 PM
@ArtOfCode That would make sense to me.

This graph that one of the queries has generated is interesting
Question scores jump all over the place
Especially when you compare it to the answers graph
What say you, everyone: with the data available I can essentially recreate the 2k (10k) mod tools. Should I?

Q: Should we make "exoplanets" and "planets" synonyms?

HDE 226868I just removed the exoplanets tag from this question, which clearly just needed the planets tag. The exoplanets tag is still used on this question, which involves arriving in another planetary system, viewing the planets as exoplanets, as opposed to planets in viewer's original system. Do we nee...

6:20 PM
@ArtofCode What's up with the downward spike at about 13 votes? Are we superstitious?

6:36 PM
@HDE226868 Apparently. We just seem to be inconsistent.

I'm thinking we should revisit this question.

Q: What should our logo and site design look like?

LiathPerhaps this is a little premature but it's one of the 7 questions we should be asking. What would be an appropriate logo to use for a WorldBuilding site? What is recognisable, will work alongside the other SE sites and be eye catching to visitors of the What's Hot list?

What does everyone think?

Oh?
I'd like to, but... it still seems pretty early
Jeeezzz the SQL in the Upvotes Over Time query is bad. (It's my own, I'm allowed to insult it :P)
@MichaelKjörling Fancy sprucing it up a bit and giving it the ability to actually display a graph?
