Q: Kol Difchin, Why So Uninviting?

Mefaresh"Kol Dichfin Yasei V'yachal, Kol Ditzrich Yasei V'yifsach" כל דכפין ייתי ויכול, כל דצריך ייתי ויפסך "All who are hungry come and eat". Why don't we ask this in a nicer way? Instead of saying "I invite all who want to come" we say something to the effect of "if you need and are so desperate the...

Is there a reason despite me doing my due diligence in researching this question and actually finding someone legitimately ask it why it does not appear on the active list? I find it highly frustrating that people would downvote it not leave no critique as to why its such an off the wall question.

@DoubleAA should we incorporate spoiler formatting into our discussion (I wouldn't go so far as to call it a policy) about modesty standards on MY? Extreme formulation: Should we allow Q&A on the most private of topics, with the Q text and A text all in spoiler format?

Three people voted to Leave Open this question about calling one's mother "Morah X." What's up with that? Isn't this clearly Rfפ?

Q: Mishneh Torah Artwork

danielIn my yeshiva there is a library that has many very old seforim. While exploring the library I came across a volume of the Mishneh Torah which seems to be from 1574. I opened it and was surprised to see that on one of the introductory pages there was an image of a naked woman. on the border of th...

^^^ I am very tempted to embed and spoilerify the second image, but I'm not sure that's appropriate. Perhaps we shouldn't host such an image at all, even for historical purposes. Perhaps we shouldn't even have the link there. Don't we know everything we need to know about the picture for the purposes of the question at hand from the description? On the other hand, it's no more graphic than sculptures you can see in various public places, and it does provide evidence of the motivation for the Q.
... While we're at it, it seems right now that the question is not actually about this particular volume, but about the general practice, as motivated by finding this volume. Should that fact be strengthened? Should asking about this volume itself be added in?
... The title currently does not match the apparent main question.

@IsaacMoses It's about a specific case, but clearly generalizable to other people, even without editing.

@Scimonster It says, literally, "Is it inappropriate for my daughter to ..." isn't that straight-up asking for pesak?

@IsaacMoses, not to be petty ala' he started it, but i find his response highly offensive.
I know nothing about the relevant theology, but what you describe is racism. Redefining terms to say it isn't racism just means that it's now racism plus lying (lying about what words mean; lying in your claim to not be racist).
@IsaacMoses, not to be petty ala' he started it, but i find his response highly offensive.
that a quote from trig

@Mefaresh He characterized your writing, not you.
The word "lying" was unnecessarily harsh, but, at least given the previous version of your answer, I agreed with the essence of his claim.

@IsaacMoses and the most recent edit?
@IsaacMoses and i quote a Rav Yaakov

@Mefaresh I've commented on it.

Anyone good at reading and understanding Emes Leya'akov is welcome to visit this chat room, take a look at some pages from there, and provide a second opinion on this point of mine, which goes to understanding the whole intent of the piece, IMO.

@IsaacMoses I was just in the middle of wondering why it wasn't in my review queue when I saw this comment.
@IsaacMoses Re this I am going to assume you weren't trying to be facetious, because that doesn't seem like you, but that wasn't my point.

@yEz I wasn't. I agree; I maybe should have said that to TRiG earlier or called them both out at the same time.

@IsaacMoses You can make plenty of offensive "non-personal" statements and plenty of unoffensive "personal" statements. There's no logic in permitting carte blanche rude statements as long as they jump through certain hoops. "That was the dumbest thing anyone has said in the history of ever!" is not a personal statement, but much more offensive than the personal statement of "I think you are making a mistake."
Not to mention that "you said a lie" and "You are lying" is a purely semantic (if even that) difference.

@yEz OK

@MonicaCellio @msh210 @DoubleAA Is Rosh Chodesh an event? If not, should the Rosh Chodesh about which it says החדש הזה לכם ראש חדשים perhaps be a Rosh Chodesh event?
(yes, I know the verse is talking about the chodesh and not the rosh chodesh, but still.)
