A: The scope of Lifehacks

GillesOn defining the scope of a Stack Exchange site, with an application to Lifehacks When defining the scope, you need to think about three kinds of audiences: Regular users — people who frequently visit the site, post answers, participate on meta, etc. New or casual users — they know the site nam...

Hardly any question is getting closed, so this site is Everyday Life Stack Exchange, whether you like it or not.

The point of that statement is?

@J.Musser there was this debate as to what was off-topic for not being a hack
the answer is, topicality isn't related to being a hack
people may huff and puff on meta, but if you can't get five people to vote to close, that won't get you anywhere
it would help if there were mods, but they wouldn't be enforcing a meta consensus (there isn't one), they'd be enforcing whatever they want
that's generally not healthy, but it might not be worse than what's happening now
I don't understand who the experts are for this site nor why they would want to hang around

@Gilles The SE staff is trying to figure out some guidelines for the mods before they are appointed.
No wonder it's taking so long

@Shokhet Hi. Thanks for pinging me about this. With all due respect to both of you guys and the SE system, I'm still confused because there seems to be a bit of leeway in the order of those questions in the Asking section. (The top 3 are in a different order in LH and GL.)
I went through a bunch of sites today and found plenty of each of those, so maybe there are two templates.
I'll leave you guys out of the middle though and bring it up with a mod in the tavern if I want.
Biology actually has an additional question in their list. Anyway, I hope I haven't hurt any feelings, and appreciate you guys even talking about this with everything else you've got going!

In my personal dealings with Shokhet in chat rooms, he is kind, patient, encouraging, quick to respond. He's dedicated to maintaining the quality of all aspects of Lifehacks, as evidenced by his participation in both beta and meta. He approaches even difficult discussions with humility and an open mind. I believe he's a person of integrity, who respects the SE system and the community it serves. He would moderate with a gentle yet firm hand, which is just what Lifehacks needs! — Sue 11 mins ago
@Shokhet ^^

@Mooseman and +13 ain't bad for a mod nomination anywhere.

I should ask somebody with db access to give me +1000 or something ;)
Maybe, but you got +27!

@Mooseman And I was surprised mine did so well.
Only Gilles and my nominations have less than 4 dv's
@Mooseman yup, one more and Tim gets a silver badge.

lol

@Mooseman Well then, you should be feeling sorry for @darthness.

I'm one upvote away on this one

@Mooseman too bad I already voted on that one.
