In your mentioned example, Actually, I am not asking about scientific story behind it. I am asking here about the story behind the growing Nandi which is ofcourse a myth but not superstitious or related to science. Q: Why Hindus remove their footwear when they enter a temple?

Why is that people don't wear shoes and sandals when they visit a temple? Sometimes they remove outside of temple premises and sometimes outside of the temple steps... It is a fact that the term "Hindu" derives from the river "Sindh". But most of Hinduism's tenets and teachings derive from the Vedas. Why wasn't it named after the Vedas, but rather given a name derived from a river? Can anyone shed light on this?
