@Braiam So-so. y?

@hichris123 non-existent :P

@Braiam ?

@hichris123 I have no knowledge of C++, I could take a shot and write some lines but after that... nothing :P

@hichris123 Yay!

@Undo I think it has to do with the move to Oregon...

12:36 AM
... the Oregon cluster hasn't learned to hate us yet? :P

12:56 AM
So @hichris123 what did you use to learn Android dev?

1:39 AM
@Seth developer.android.com, stackoverflow.com, various tutorials...
@Undo around cough
or @Doorknob :D

hai

2:29 AM
Hai everyone :p

hai

Oy

2:49 AM
oy

oY

Can I has spam?

@hichris123 here, that's a lot of spam : premium.wpmudev.org/blog/wp-content/uploads/2012/07/… :D

2 hours later…
5:32 AM
@hichris123 sure! I have a blog post on this here, it might be good o first go through this, maybe set up the build for your computer, and then ping me with specific queries/bug help :)

Hi jan :-)

Hello

11:46 AM
[ SmokeDetector ] SmokeDetector started

2 hours later…
2:04 PM
Anyone around?

@AnnonomusPenguin Nope.
:P

@ProgramFOX Hmm... that's too bad. I wish there was a foxbik's cube in here....
=D

Anyone here have enough reputation to view at least one Arduino queue?

Nope :(

2:13 PM
No problem, the queue counter is buggy AFAIK and I'm wondering if there's something that I accidentally skipped and never has been reviewed because when there's one task to be completed, it always shows up as three....
It goes 3, 5, 6, 8 (changes slightly sometimes...)

For normal users that counter is already one big lie, I'm not sure if it is any better for a mod... meta.stackexchange.com/questions/223635/…

@rene Why would it be any better for mods?

I can imagine that for moderators a more correct sql query can be executed?

To check the total tasks?
I just realize you can do sitename.com/review in incognito mode and it'll tell you :P

Yeah, that is the cleanest
But I believe that still comes from the cache

2:22 PM
I'm really curious what tasks are pending. I remember accidentally skipping something yesterday, and I see one other one here. But the third?!?!
@rene The mod tools are fairly limited IMHO.

Oh, ok. I'm not mod anywhere so I can't tell...

I can't change reputation, view individual votes, run SQL queries, or change anything about the site in general.

I'm completely confused

@3ventic about what?
@rene Nah... it's confusing for me, too :P

@AnnonomusPenguin You could try http://arduino.stackexchange.com/review/close/[add your best guess number here]

2:25 PM
PHP Notice: Undefined offset: 2
line: if($args[2] == 'link-accounts') {
echo "<!-- " . var_export($args, TRUE) . " -->"; is right above it
aaand it says
<!-- array (
  0 => '',
  1 => 'modcp',
  2 => 'search',
  3 => 'score:[1000000,1200000]',
  4 => '',
) -->

@rene Or just write a script :D
Huh. Odd. This didn't work: arduino.stackexchange.com/review/close/…
:D

lottery...

@rene pick 5 queue :D
Ahh I found them!

2:38 PM
@3ventic not being a php dev but var_export isn't changing that array as a side-effect?

nope
I added it to debug the error in the first place

I was going to suggest to put the 2 between quotes but reading the php manual it yelled BAD at me so I won't do that...

1 hour later…
lol

4:19 PM

Ooh. We have @rene in here. :D

@hichris123 Hi there!
Can I have your ddl for comments?

.... my what?

Google says that ddl means "data definition language".

the create table statement for the Comments table

4:24 PM
Ah. Gimme a sec to start my computer.

4:35 PM
@rene are you still there?

yes

k
CREATE TABLE `socomments` (
  `Id` int(11) NOT NULL,
  `PostId` int(11) NOT NULL,
  `Score` int(11) DEFAULT NULL,
  `Text` varchar(600) NOT NULL,
  `CreationDate` timestamp NOT NULL DEFAULT CURRENT_TIMESTAMP,
  `UserId` int(11) NOT NULL,
  FULLTEXT KEY `Text` (`Text`)
) ENGINE=InnoDB DEFAULT CHARSET=utf8;
@rene ^

How do you store the guid? as a char(36)?

... guid?

In the posthistory table
RevisionGUID

4:45 PM
... I don't have the posthistory table. That's pretty much the one table I don't have.

Oh...well I try with char(36), efficiency comes later...

5:43 PM
@hichris123 got any progress with the firefox stuff?
/me is getting a (free) firefox os developer preview phone :D

@ManishEarth I'm looking through the bugs right now, and trying to figure out how I can work on Fennec. :P (Fennec is... confusing)

hop on in IRC
those guys are helpful

k.
... after I eat. :P

hah

6:09 PM
@Manish how hard is FF to develop for a beginner? I haven't done any open source work, maybe I should start on something simpler :D Advice?

6:29 PM
@AnnonomusPenguin Fx is probably one of the simplest if you know javascript
mainly because there are great tools and a very helpful community

Thanks!
Lol:
> So you like long compile times and incomprehensible error messages? That's cool, we do too. You could work on

6:51 PM
@ManishEarth how does Mozilla manage feature requests? There are so many developers, how do they say "yep, we want that!" or "no, that feature is pointless"?

@AnnonomusPenguin Mozilla is not a single entity, in that way
there are devs with review permissions, and they can say "ok, this is good" to any proposed change in the code
larger issues require superreview
there usually is discussion/consensus
there's a mailing list where larger issues are discussed
and there are meetings, many of which are open for anyoneish to join

There isn't a better system that could be used or does it work smoothly?
IMHO that's just asking for issues, but it may be okay...

@AnnonomusPenguin awesomely

FIFY: meeings → meetings

Mozilla has a huge community, with a lot of volunteers having great powers
Decision making is a part of that

6:54 PM
Huh... that's really neat.

There are central policy decisions, etc
but most of it is left to the community

@ManishEarth Almost like SE in a way? Mods don't have much decisions, but they aren't reliant on SE.

yep

#analogy
:P

but we aren't so distributed
and there aren't as many powers

6:56 PM
How are the superpowers chosen? Do the current superpowers nominate them?
@ManishEarth how much work do you do on Firefox?
wants swag

@AnnonomusPenguin yes
@AnnonomusPenguin Currently? Not much. The odd bug once a week
I help out newbies on IRC though

Did you do a lot previously?

at some times, yes
I only have a measly 20 bugs fixed, I think
though some are large
and a bugfix involves tones of review and back-and-forths sometimes
My mozilla swag: stickers from a couple of events, a laptop pouch-thingy (awesomely velvety on the inside) because I was a major speaker/helper at an event (for the first time)
One t shirt, getting another in the mail
And a dev preview phone which I'll get when I go to the event in bangalore
This is mostly realted to my efforts in teaching others rather than squashing bugs mself
though you can easily get swag for that too
This vacation I would have squashed tons of bugs -- I have a personal pending list that I need to attack -- but I got selected for GSoC and that takes up my time :p
But I did do one major bug which I'm really happy about. It's not that much code, but I was a part of the decision making for two browsers (sot of initiated it), and I really liked that :D (inpursuitoflaziness.blogspot.com/2014/04/…)

woah.
so many messages!

@ManishEarth my life seems boring compared to that! :D I'm trying to work on some open source projects myself. I think I'll do Firefox and another one I found online that's related to a project I'm working on (called LibreCAD, want to create a plugin for that for a CNC mill)

7:08 PM
@hichris123 have more
@AnnonomusPenguin libreCAD is good
dunno their community though

@ManishEarth Have you used it?

I like solidworks over all other cad things, but librecad is still usable :)

@ManishEarth I was on their IRC and the users seemed nice. Their community is a bit small, so (of course) there isn't much documentation. However, I think I might be able to manage working with it a bit.

IRC is a good proxy for documentation :p
"oy, @randomperson! halp!"

@ManishEarth And LibreCAD is, unlike SolidWorks, Libre :D
(libre is "free" in Spanish, although IDK if it's the right word for "no cost")

7:11 PM
yep

@ManishEarth lol
Wait... is there a ping type feature for IRC? I didn't see one, and I didn't want to be that guy asking.
I love SE chat: it's so much better than IRC

you just use the username of that person (with spaces around it) in a message

@ManishEarth Thanks

@AnnonomusPenguin Have you heard of AutoCAD?
It's nice (but not open-source)
