Hey btw I think I never posted this in here - commit to Puzzling! All of you probably like puzzles in general and we only need 19 more commits before private beta :D
@hichris ^ Are you going to go join that room just to kick me now? :P

@Doorknob No, but I will join the room. :P

Hi @mods

Heh.
Most of us are blue in here. :D

I == lonely
@AnnonomusPenguin Hi

Do you want me to kick you so you see what kicking is like? :P

@TheDoctor don't worry, you're not the only one here who doesn't have a diamond...

You guys don't star much, do you?

You have to activate him yourself
Oh wait, you mean he isn't even here?
Hrm.
And he doesn't seem to be working in general, I keep getting "backoff" errors.

@Seth he doesn't ever join the room. Chat just freaks out when he posts without joining the room and makes it look like he has.

Q: The API is being very standoffish

UndoI was working on Blaze and noticed that I was getting quite a few of those nasty backoff violations. I checked my code for infinite loops and whatnot, then checked the dev console. Here's the timeline: I call /answers with my key and a pagesize of 100. The exact path I call: https://api.stack...

A: Moderator problems

Doorknob All he did was run a little script for a minute. Don't you think you're overreacting just a bit? As mentioned earlier, you were annoyingly starring tons of messages. That chat room wasn't even one with major discussion. It is used as a "testing" room quite often (which you full well know). There...

A: Reverse turning of Stepper motor

Annonomus PenguinThe answer is simple. Just pass a negative number of steps as an argument to motor.step();. Another note: You forgot a semicolon on your second to last line. IIRC this doesn't matter in C, but it's just bad practice to do this. If you add a line of code below that, then it won't work. Example c...

@Doorknob But then you couldn't sleep at night when I have access to all of your info! A great idea! :P

Is it rude to ask for it myself? I don't like doing it, but me likes green checkmarks.

1:55 PM
@user Do you need any more help with this? If not, you can "accept" my answer by clicking the checkmark to mark this as a solution to your problem. — Annonomus Penguin ♦ 8 secs ago
Good enough :P
@hichris123 Hmmph.... have an idea. I created the nomination post that gave you your diamond, right? So then technically without me creating that you might not have gotten your ♦? (You also were the first to post by far: you had a head start cause of me. That might've helped you a little, there's still a 5% chance it helped you some by me blogging here.) So therefore, I gave you your ♦. Shouldn't I be able to revoke it to kick you??? :P

But, I own my own diamond.

May i have a diamond, @AnnonomusPenguin ?

Q: frustrate your teacher

user3103241Say you are in class, and your teacher has found out you're a programmer. He demands you write a program to generate math problems for him. He does not care what kind of problems, it can be anything. The program must also be able to generate an answer. Note that the teacher may open the file if ...

@AnnonomusPenguin Try this Flappy 2048, it is a lot harder: flappy2048.com

It's easy to cheat at though.

function cheat() {
    for (var i = 0; i < walls.length; i++) {
        for (var j = 0; j < walls[i].cells.length; j++) {
            walls[i].cells[j].setValue(bird.value);
        }
    }
}
setInterval(cheat, 500);

4:41 PM
Ahh...
lol

I crashed Firefox by trying to set the values of the cells to 2^35.

And again...
I wonder how long I have to play until Firefox crashes without manually setting such large numbers.

Lol
I made a JavaScript program that lets your bird auto-fly:
function cheat() {
    for (var i = 0; i < walls.length; i++) {
        for (var j = 0; j < walls[i].cells.length; j++) {
            walls[i].cells[j].setValue(bird.value);
        }
    }
}
setInterval(cheat, 500);
bird.watch('vy', function(id, oldvalue, newvalue) {
    if (newvalue != 0) {
        bird.vy = 0;
    }
    return 0;
});

@Doorknob check your user ID :P

Oh, that makes more sense :P

6:40 PM
Try 73662, I hear he's really annoying :P

@Doorknob That wouldn't work:
- I can't kick myself OR another mod, let alone both
- When I get kicked, the page would refresh, thus resetting the script, and letting me in.
Nice try. :P

Q: Question about Sea Breeze

user3503704How would I solve the following problem? http://goo.gl/MqBR1S I would appreciate any help.

^ Unclear?

@hichris123 the shortened URL always makes me think there's something bad behind it... but anyway, it looks like a "do my homework" question so I think you should close it.

@hichris123 he didn't even bothered to write down the problem...

Yup, let's say it's unclear.
(just wanted a sanity check before I bindingly closed it)

8:28 PM
@hichris123 don't be afraid of the power, just embrace it! Let yourself being drawn in power! MUHAHAHHAHAHA
<--- a bad influence

Have no pity for "do my homework" questions, close them on sight. :)

@Braiam rofl
@André Meh, I don't really have a problem with do my homework questions, it's just a) the problem is in a Google Doc, b) no effort, and c) what the heck is that person asking for? The solution? How to solve it?

@hichris123 "do my homework" almost never shows effort, otherwise the question is more detailed and doesn't look like a homework question anymore.

"do my homework" isn't even a valid question.
If you have a homework question you should be able to phrase it so I can't tell.

true.

8:32 PM
i.e. in the end it isn't a homework question ;)

How about this: I don't have a problem with homework questions.

@Seth exactly that's what I'm saying.

@hichris123 E: Mod doesn't have a problem with homework question. Exiting.

Heh.

@hichris123 someone's looking for easy questions for rep-farming ? :D

8:35 PM
rofl

There was this epic homework question on gems.. but I can't find it

No, what I'm trying to say is this: if you're asking a question, and it's your homework, that's okay. It's just not okay when you dump a homework question and say givemetehanswerz.

Hmm.. You could say that, but I say, if you're asking a homework question you're doing it wrong.

@hichris123 yeah that's what @Seth said before - it's fine if it's homework as long as it doesn't look like homework (and it usually doesn't when the OP shows a bit of research effort).

okay, now that I think about it, I doubt it ever made it to gems.
Does my votes history show votes on deleted questions? It doesn't does it?

8:41 PM
@Seth Nope.

I know, I'll go through my flagged posts!
Except I don't have 10k on meta so I'll have to go my the title
Aha! Found it.
@Doorknob around?

So... what should we do with meta-tags like homework?
Apparently some sites actually use them.

Uhh.. remove them? ;)
I guess you should ask on meta "How do we treat homework questions, do we need a homework tag?"
since each site is different.

8:57 PM
Talking about homework questions... academia.stackexchange.com/questions/20182/…

Epic homework question:

He posted this directly from his phone ? :D
The question he got is so easy by the way

I guess lol

Something better would have been to give him a code-trolling style answer. :p

That would have been hilarious indeed xD

9:10 PM
@Seth Yep

@Doorknob ... he doesn't need you anymore. :P

:P

Is it fine if I answer this question using an answer from the comments ?
The OP already asked the comment's author to repost his comment as an answer but no reaction...

9:34 PM
@Doorknob yeah, a bit too late :P
