9:57 AM
Maybe one of those days I'll manage to make some time to come back to that. Ah well, inactive for years doesn't really scream "good candidate" for moderator election

@Gnoupi :))
good to see you
@Gnoupi but those days of moderation do count ;)

@Sathya Not sure if still, I mean, obviously you were there, you remember, but I see a lot of new names who probably never heard of those times :P
@allquixotic's name reminds me of stackexchange.com/users/60873/quack-quixote. Though I guess no relation whatsoever

@Gnoupi ha, tell me about it
@Gnoupi you'll still get mine, @Ivo's @Random's recco which (I think) holds some weight

@Sathya Well, maybe. Though if I was doing that, I'd still be a bit of a background more than super active. But maybe some day, with different work tasks, who knows
Fun to read the candidates start to tear eachother apart, though

10:27 AM
@Sathya @Gnoupi would indeed have my vote, if only for old time's sake

1 hour later…
11:33 AM
I think the real reason for my lack of recognition is the fact that I don't lurk in chat or Meta as often as I should.
I tend to contribute sight unseen, helping out whenever I have the time to do so.

@DragonLord Well the mods tend to see a lot of this hidden activity, because we are forced to look where the sun don't shine

11:53 AM
@DragonLord in my opinion, meta participation is much more important than chat participation -- chat is good, and a lot of the SU mods use chat extensively, but as far as what's more valuable, helping out on meta for sure

meta questions: 28 / +211
meta answers: 32 / +117
These numbers look pretty good, but I'm not sure why I seem to be less recognized than the other candidates.

Too bad they don't let me compare candidates against myself :P

I don't think you're "less recognized" -- one troll tried to poke you and you didn't let it get to you
there're gonna be trolls in the elections and you did the right thing, don't swat back at them

I once tried to suspend that one troll, but somehow it didn't work :(

a few mods putting in words of support is not an indication of being "recognized" or not, by the way
the election goes by popular vote, so "SU mods support me" is basically meaningless because they're so few in number
(mods don't get 10 votes or anything, do they? lol)

11:59 AM
Well historically the candidates the mods wanted to win, won :P
I don't mean to imply there's a causal connection though

@IvoFlipse I think there's much more a causal connection between main site reputation and winning
last SU election, the top 3 users by site rep won

That's partially a selection bias
because HarryMC or JohnT never participated in an election
nor would they be fit to win imho

12:22 PM
@IvoFlipse pity indeed, I would like to see easily my stats like this, out of curiosity. though most of my flagging history is from a time before mods could mark them as helpful, so I don't really have that many helpful flags

@Gnoupi 200+ recorded flags is still not a small thing

@DragonLord It's visible to the mods, after clearing a lot of flags, you get to know who helps behind the curtains, even if it's not more visible. Finally, "back in the days", there was no "per site" meta, and no chat. We knew anyway who was working actively
@Sathya yes, but only 115 marked as helpful :P

@Gnoupi Same here, I think a lot of my activity as a mod was never registered like this

When they changed the review system to the new one I lost my 10,000 reviews :(

@Gnoupi That does not imply the rest was unhelpful
@slhck Auch

12:28 PM
@IvoFlipse well, mostly because you haven't really have had use for flags since then :P

And good to see you again, @Gnoupi!

@Gnoupi That as well, I just did whatever I felt like :P
Shouldn't you be playing LoL? :P

@IvoFlipse I'm at work, no time to play.
time to be on the chat, though, apparently

This election is for two seats rather than the three in previous elections... what gives?

Chat is my coffee break when I've already had too much coffee.
@DragonLord It's a supply/demand thing, basically

12:31 PM
it's just a classic "last day before 3 weeks of vacations", so i'm mostly closing things, tying up stuff

It's not like the current mods are drowning in flags, so three would have been "too much", if you can say it like that.

I remember that on the first election, Jeff manually appointed an "extra" moderator

@slhck Who decides? Do you guys get together and say "we need X more mods because the workload has increased"?

@DragonLord SU worked with 1 moderator (that we used to the last nerve), at the beginning, then 4. It was already enough

Who was the first?

12:32 PM
@terdon Sorta, yeah. We discuss this with the SE community team on a semi-regular basis.

@slhck I see.

@terdon Probably @GraceNote, @AnnaLear, or others from the SE team.

@terdon technically, there were 3. The HowToGeek who never became really active, and one who was a moderator mostly for SF. Then that left Diago alone
@DragonLord there wasn't much of an SE team then, no community managers

Ah, yes, Diago, of course.
By the way, since y'all are here, could one of you mods close this: superuser.com/q/744577/151431
Cross-posted on AU and in fact, posted twice on AU

poof

12:35 PM
@slhck I see we are heavy on the delete button those days

@Gnoupi For cross-posts, mostly. Other stuff gets auto-deleted quite fast, so I rarely delete questions.

@slhck indeed, noticed the xpost after

Not only xpost, the guy had posted 2 days ago an AU, I asked for more info, he ignored me and then reposted it on AU and xposted it here today. Grrrr

Typical. But they're not always aware the sites are connected like that.

kinda surprised haven't had more nominations after the 9 I saw overnight
no EU/SEA nominations? (except @jour.. )

12:40 PM
Yeah, surprised me too
Then again, we have enough mods at GMT/GMT+1 :P

yeah, most mods on SU at on this time zone, it's historical

allquixotic is in the states right? And JG in Singapore.

This calls for an inappropriate statement about Germans and a historical reference.

@slhck Control yourself... :P

Haha, who flagged that?

12:43 PM
Seriously? Who flagged tvhat?
He's German, he can say things like that! See, now we bothered Reg!

I don't even understand it.
Hört auf mit dem Quatsch.

It makes cute little blue boxes, pretty

An even more extreme case of more moderators elected then there are "seats": Stack Overflow 2013 election
What exactly happened there?

@Gnoupi Because people from that time zone are AWESOME!111!!

4 seats, but 6 elected??

12:45 PM
This calls for an inappropriate statement about Iraq elections and a historical reference.

I think some people stepped down and they picked the runner ups?

@RegDwigнt I am so tempted to play the game and flag that too...

Knock yourself out.
Then I can knock myself out.
I've never tried that before.

:)

Flagging a moderator's comment -- always a good idea ™

12:46 PM
double checks if he's in The Bridge

@RegDwigнt No you're in a room of a site where I actually am a mod :P

Oh the shame. I can't flipse the bird at Ivo here.

Everyone's blue but me.

@RegDwigнt ha

@terdon I overheard there was an election on something called "super user". It would make you all blue if you run.

12:49 PM
@RegDwigнt I'll just not watch ;)

@terdon we're blue da-da dee-da-dadaaa ...

:)

If you're blau in German it means you're drunk.

Seriously, how come not everyone on Super User is blue by default? That's a major design flaw.

12:50 PM
And if you're geil in Dutch it means something entirely different from German :P

@RegDwigнt You have to vote for Evan, then everyone becomes a mod.

Haven't seen the Evan in ages.

@slhck Yeah, that'll be fun.

I actually missed him in the last Arqade election.

He missed an election? Wow!

12:51 PM
@IvoFlipse yeah and then there's lulz.
Okay, technically it's lullen. But still.

1:21 PM
@terdon We tell the moderators to contact us if they think they need an election, and for how many slots. That's basically the process.

@GraceNote That seems reasonable, thanks.

@GraceNote Well didn't we say 10? That ought to give Evan a shot :P

1:40 PM
@IvoFlipse I find the idea of giving the moderator rights to Evan not so far from having a fork and sitting next to a power outlet, and wondering what will happen. I mean, you know obviously it will sting, might possibly kill you... and yet, there is a weird and dark curiosity lurking in the back, trying to push you to do it... just to really see what happens.

@Gnoupi It would almost be worth it to make a fake SE site so he could become a mod over a bunch of spam accounts

I think this is disruptive to the whole election process. It's likely to result in going through the primaries even though the only candidates to be eliminated are obviously unqualified.

Q: Increase reputation requirement and add other requirements for moderator elections on sites other than Stack Overflow

DragonLord the FieryStack Overflow requires at least 3000 rep for a user to nominate himself/herself to a moderator election. On the rest of the Stack Exchange network, only 300 rep is required. While it is true that the bar needs to be set higher for SO because SO has far more users, 300 is still too low for the ...

Just give the mods veto rights

@IvoFlipse It might go against that little "democracy" thingy

@Gnoupi I think you could trust us not to take veto-ing lightly
But I can imagine one or two nominations that might as well be nuked
or "closed as not constructive"

1:49 PM
@IvoFlipse Obviously yes. But it's still the power in place tampering with the elections

Sounds awesome

@GraceNote would you nominate me for moderator here?
Hello everyone

And you don't want to give a guy like Evan a tribune to call upon his democratic rights, typically

People can't nominate other people.

@GraceNote I thought they could?

1:50 PM
Nope, you nominate your own self.

dang it.

@Malachi Why would you want to become one?

you are right I didn't read the whole thing

Community manager response:
> Evan, you'd violate the moderator agreement by allowing people to use your account as a proxy, as well as our privacy policy. If you want to be a moderator, I suggest a serious nomination detailing good things that you could do for this site and community. Opening up anyone's personal information to anyone with a browser isn't a good example. I'm going to be withdrawing your nomination if it's not radically different by the end of the day today. – Tim Post♦

Yay

1:53 PM
I am very active in the stackexchange network (well on Codereview) and I think that I would fit well into superuser. I like using linux (even if it is just Ubuntu right now) and figuring out how to get things to work when it comes to computers. I like to know how things work. I know how the stack sites like to operate pertaining to moderator tools and flagging rules and such.

@DragonLord Thank god for sanity

We have a special requirment on AU that keeps him out of our elections.

@Seth Which is?

@Seth The no-Evan rule?

1:53 PM
I am on a computer almost 16 hours a day

@IvoFlipse you have to digitally sign this: ubuntu.com/about/about-ubuntu/conduct

@Malachi Then it sounds like you should be answering questions on SU

I am also a programmer for a judicial system in a small state (less than 800k people) so there are a lot of things that I have to figure out to do the things that are asked of me

Moderators are required to digitally sign the Ubuntu Code of Conduct.

Evan came, then got kicked out because he hadnt and he never came back.

1:55 PM
This is a legally binding contract.

@IvoFlipse I have some answers. when I was wandering around here last I didn't see much traffic though

@Seth Well there's a moderator agreement too, which would not allow him to do whatever he wants either

@Seth Huh? You mean he'd been elected?

@Malachi Rome wasn't built in a day

@IvoFlipse yeah, but that doesn't keep him from running.

@IvoFlipse I hear that.

@terdon no, sorry. Taking shorcuts on this touch keyboard. He got kicked out of the nomination phase because he hasn't signed it.

@Seth Ah, that makes more sense.

@IvoFlipse we have been trying to build up Code Review since October I think. you should check out some of our meta posts for the SEDE queries that we have come up with, it shows the increase in user activity since October it is awesome.

@IvoFlipse it just goes to show he wouldn't agree to our follow the mod agreement.

1:58 PM
@Malachi AFAIK there is no rep or post limit you need to have in order to nominate yourself, so go ahead. Just be aware that you are unlikely to be elected since you really haven't participated enough here to know how the site works.

@terdon 300 rep

@Malachi I know, I checked your profile, that's what I mean. Do you feel you know the site well enough to decide whether something is on topic, to know the memes and general style of the site etc?

@Malachi You have sufficient rep, but you probably don't know how the users expect you to handle the flags

@terdon yes, I think that I know when something is on topic or not here, as well as on CR, Programmers, SO, Ubuntu

Quiz time!
(jk)

2:01 PM
@Malachi OK, but it will be hard to convince others of that since you have participated so little. Just a heads up.

@IvoFlipse I cannot nominate myself, it says so at the end of the post

Are questions about tablet computers on topic?

@Malachi Too bad then ;)

@terdon yes

@Malachi really?

2:02 PM
@Malachi goodbye

163 questions about them

@Malachi That they're there does not mean they're on topic.

if it is about how they work or trying to accomplish a specific task on them then it would be on topic
if it is about which one is the best one to buy it would be off topic
BTW.Work for a little bit

What is on or off topic on SU... the eternal debate.
4

Yeah...

2:04 PM
or how to be an unpleasant site by bashing anyone who asks a question which steps a liiiittle bit outside of a range that the user doesn't even understand
website? nope

@Gnoupi 50 shades of grey eh?

device which is not a PC? nope
shopping? nope
consoles? nope

What is the policy on tablets? I remember a meta post about it which suggested allowing them (JG's I think) but sort of secretly.

blame windows 8 for messing up everything
:p

This one:
46
Q: Please vote on proposed changes to our policy on tablet computers

nhinkleWe recently asked how you feel about questions regarding Windows 8 on ARM. After looking through the answers and comments there, and some lengthy discussion amongst the moderators, we've come up with the following possible changes to our policies on tablets. As the nature of computing changes, s...

2:06 PM
Hah. Evan saying he already won the election. He's really stopped a lot lower this time.

@Gnoupi Or making clear how ambiguous the distinction is

in the early days a tablet was an "electronic device", and ruled out as such

what about questions talking about iOS?

in my opinion most computer related questions should be ok on superuser
on the extended meaning
websites, smart devices
but that's just me

iOS and Android and Windows, but mostly Windows 8 messed that all up right? you can dock a tablet with a keyboard, it is a mini computer. but then again so it a playstation

2:08 PM
Agreed. On the other hand we need to draw the line somewhere

websites are code and should be asked on a code site (SO or CR or ...)

it's a debate as old as SU itself

@Malachi lol that's pretty naive
41
Q: Super User website applications policy

Lance RobertsI recently asked this question on Super User, and a big discussion arose on appropriate questions. The issue came down to the new verbiage in the FAQ: I had figured that the websites line was just about social networking software (which a case could be made for closing the question I asked), ...

I see things like OS and hardware compatibility being on-topic here

Websites are not code! HTML ones anyway. That's a markup language, not a programming one.

2:09 PM
@IvoFlipse yes, I remember that

@IvoFlipse ok yes things like Google Drive and such yes. you are talking about from a user point of view.
so websites from a user's stance is on topic but websites from a developer's stance are off-topic

@terdon the problem is the end user. When your parents use their webmail/facebook, how is that different than another program? It's just something on the computer/tablet

@Gnoupi Yes, my point was that HTML is not code. Webapps are but not static webpages written in HTML<5

anyhoo, this has nothing to do with the election. Closing this discussion as off-topic

:)

2:12 PM
I've run out of close votes trying to weed out Android-specific questions.

@Gnoupi almost what I just said, using websites(web applications) like Google Drive or other Cloud based applications (software) is on topic but developing these things is off-topic
@terdon there is a difference between a website and a web application

yeeeeeee this is an active chat \O/

@Malachi Yes, exactly. That's my point.
@allquixotic Ooooh, a new candidate!

@allquixotic hey how is it going? long time no see.... you are the same user from....Christianity?
I think that is the site that I saw you on?

@terdon a new candidate? who? WHO?!
@Malachi no, not at all. I have never participated in that site.
@terdon ....*you*?

2:18 PM
@allquixotic maybe it was this one then

4 hours ago, by Gnoupi
@allquixotic's name reminds me of http://stackexchange.com/users/60873/quack-quixote. Though I guess no relation whatsoever

~quack is still missed

I just earned the yearling badge on Superuser Meta...lol soon to follow the same badge on SuperUser Main

As is Molly :(

@IvoFlipse both before my time

2:25 PM
That goes for most of you

I think if you can get 2-3 solid years out of a user, as an active participant and moderator, you've gotten enough "value" out of them at that point that there's not really much more they can do; their contribution kind of plateaus out
I don't think there's a reason to expect anyone to continue to be a consistent and major contributor on a daily basis "forever" -- eventually they have to move on with life
I mean, unless your name is Jon Skeet. then you're wedded to this company at the hip for life
2

@allquixotic I bet Jon gets plenty of work done, he just enjoys his commute this way

@IvoFlipse must be nice to have a commute where you can type on your laptop >:( I have to drive, and the traffic is annoying
unless Jon is working on the Google self-driving cars project, in which case...
I want one of those so I can type type type while on the road. then one day, as I'm writing a chat message not unlike this one, WHAM -- the software makes an error, or can't compensate for stupidity (like someone running over the median strip), and it's lights out
at least I'd have a chance of dying in my sleep, since one of the main things I could do during a long commute in a self-driving car is take a nap

2:43 PM
aren't primaries supposed to decide the people who run in the general election for each party in the US? if so, what are the parties on SU? Supercrat and Userican?
2
"those darn liberal mods are always trying to delete good questions!"
"those darn conservative mods are always trying to keep around bad questions!"
"we should focus on reducing the national site Close Vote debt queue!"

I will run Independent if I can get the rep to nominate myself

I support the construction of a oil migration pipeline from Russia UNIX.SE to the US SU, which will improve our economy and create thousands of jobs for close voters

@allquixotic I don't think that I can agree with that. if the close voters are bored they should look into SO, there is quite a queue there that needs to be cleaned up

@Malachi I also support raising the minimum residual rep to 10.25 per day ;)

@allquixotic your puns are strong, my friend

2:59 PM
@Raystafarian just don't wage any robo-emailer smear campaign against me, and we won't have any problems.
and that includes sock puppet low rep users posting non-answers attacking my position on cross-site policy

mudslinging by... proxy?

-_-

@allquixotic No, you. As in "a new candidate in the room" not in the elections.

@terdon ah, ok. I was actually here (much!) earlier in this room's existence, but, as you were :)
why are you not running? I'm pretty sure with your higher rep you could get the second mod position

@allquixotic Yeah, I thought about it but 1) both you and JG would do a great job and 2) I haven't been that active here lately, I've been spending much more time on U&L and AU and

3:07 PM
@terdon ahh... well, that's much appreciated, but I don't think it'll be me and JMG. definitely JMG, but I think the second spot is far from being decided at this point
and that's assuming no other very-high-rep users run
if a 20k+er runs, they're basically a lock, because the majority always votes based on rep

@allquixotic I support raising it to 11.35 per day

@allquixotic Don't necessarily need the high rep to be a good moderator

@Gnoupi what you need and what most people think are two different things :)
typical user: "oh, that guy has more rep, he must be smarter. *click*"
spent a little bit of time looking at election results across several sites

Indeed, never went through elections, so hard to say. But I think a good text, a good presence, and a good amount of flags is mostly what would make it

there hasn't been a single election that I've yet seen on the network where the top nominees sorted by rep didn't win

3:11 PM
it's a little difficult for anyone to get behind someone without the 10K tools in the first place

True, but rep or not, you're one of the most active users on meta, you're certainly a contender. My prediction os JMG and either you or dragonlord probably.

@allquixotic the question after is a bit of causality. Do they have high rep because they spend a lot of time on the site also moderating?
and already got the "street cred" from their activity

The last election on AU went to seth who didn't even have 10k at the time.

@Gnoupi well, for a very long time (something like my first 6 months on the site, during which I was insanely active) I was active primarily to answer questions, with very little interest in moderation
I've gravitated toward moderation more in the "recent era" (like, the past year), but actually a majority of my rep is from my early days
came in, discovered site, OMG ADDICTIVE, hit rep cap several days in a row, etc

Yeah... Addictive is the word.

3:13 PM
@allquixotic Personally, I had more interest in moderation (wish to see the site succeed and go well) since the beginning. And running for rep was annoying because of @IvoFlipse anyway, it was tiring to race with him at every other occasion

@Gnoupi Yeah it sucked to be you ;)

Some poor buggers are so addicted, they have >20k on multiple sites. Sad, really.

@terdon addictive is the reason I stepped down in the first place

rep != moderation experience

I kinda wish @Bob would run for mod this election, but he said he won't... it's silly imo... he is only a few rep points lower than me and has plenty going for him

3:14 PM
was spending too much time on it

Jon Skeet has only 51 reviews on his record.

aside from the fact that Bob is often able to argue me to a standstill or outright win on technical points in Root Access ;p
besides, his gravatar is better
"FOX! *click*"

'strue that knowledge does not imply moderation skills though.

@DragonLord He doesn't want to be a mod

@terdon or will to moderate anyway.

3:16 PM
I just want a balance in my own contributions, basically

I give much more weight to whether someone is active on meta and takes the time to leave comments helping out new users, is polite and friendly etc.

a little of everything
even without a diamond I'm pretty balanced most of the time. will answer about a question a day (give or take, if I'm really busy or really bored), and almost always click on the meta feed as it pops up in RA, and usually at least give a thoughtful comment if not an answer
our meta is so inactive though that even a handful of answers seems like a lot

I know, those are the reasons I'm voting for you.
Is any of the mods a Linux geek?

from what I've seen, @allquixotic and @DragonLord want it too much. I'll vote for the others

the only thing that's not in balance in my SU life is asking questions. I don't really do that. except for a few semi-rant things that bugged the crap outta me (and none of the answers ever offered to me were particularly satisfying ;p)
@terdon I'm very much a Linux geek, but if you mean the current mods, slhck and Oliver are both

3:19 PM
Shlck is a mac guy I thought.

@Gnoupi EC and Hopelessn00b? :P

Oliver's Linux, yeah

@terdon mac and linux, from what I recall... he's always helping Linux users with ffmpeg

@allquixotic Maybe i'll enter the election and steal the one spot remaining after journeyman
hmm.

Yeah, he works in video stuff

3:21 PM
@Gnoupi I invite you to try :)
heck I consider @Bob to be a serious competitor and asked him to run and he won't -_-

Ooooh... Cat fight!

@allquixotic wouldn't be fair
candidate speech "Hi, vote for me! Why? well, I know where all the buttons are already" (well, that's not actually true, probably the tools changed a fair bit since I saw them last time, I guess @IvoFlipse)

Mostly the workflow that changed (or improved?)

the 10k tools have changed a fair bit (especially in their layout and presentation on the site; less so the functionality) even since when I started in 2011

@allquixotic Yeah, would be nice if I actually could see that, even by silent farming, I haven't got to 10k in my inactivity :p
@IvoFlipse how so?

3:26 PM
They automated a bunch of things or made them less tedious. They gave us a few more buttons to click like when you destroy spam, which I presume they use for learning purposes

@IvoFlipse I guess it's better than creating the Deposit monster :P

every time I see a user and their spam become unlinked (i.e. you can't click on the user's profile anymore), I imagine hearing the sound of a piece of paper being furiously crumpled up and thrown in the trash bin

Deposit was AWESOME

@IvoFlipse certainly was fun to use :P
@allquixotic oh, before we had that, but homemade. It was more of a squish as we merged spam accounts to spam accounts

@Gnoupi "squish" (like stepping on a bug) is a far more disgusting sound than crumpling paper; I'll take what we have today

3:31 PM
10k users, behold
1 1 7
well, I assume there is still something to see, I can't see myself

@Gnoupi I plan not to be here in October 2025 when it gets unsuspended... Hell itself will be unleashed
also, it somehow has 9 rep on Information Security
that's like when you find a penny in the bottom of a dumpster I guess

just answered another SU question
and found something for me to do tonight when I get home from work

@Malachi oh boy, you're almost up to the level where you can run!

@allquixotic actually, it's because they didn't delete its answer there, I see. Going to flag that

@allquixotic I need 77 more rep
@allquixotic are you patronizing me? or making fun of me?
:)

3:33 PM
@Malachi all of the above, in addition to being only half-serious
but in all seriousness, run. we need more candidates. §

@allquixotic you would vote for me, right?

@Malachi unquestionably.

@allquixotic is that a yes or a no?

@Malachi You didn't say up or down :P

oh that's right this isn't like a presidential election

3:35 PM
@Malachi yes, I would cast a vote in response to you running.
I still haven't said up or down. :P

would it not be great if we could downvote during an election for the president of the US?

@Malachi it would be great. I'd downvote both Body Odor and Ritt Momney.

I know what makes a good moderator on CR, is it the same thing that makes a good moderator here?

@Malachi sure! base your entire platform on that; it'll lead to great... something. (I almost said "success", but I didn't want to instill you with false hope.)

misguided hope you mean
I am often misguided

3:37 PM
But why would I ever attempt to misguide you, Sir? I barely know thee.
Besides, the best allies are those you don't perceive as a threat.
<3

3:49 PM
@terdon I personally use Macs but they run certified POSIX :P Also I'm more on the Bash side of Linux, not the "I'll compile my own kernel" etc one
But I barely have time to answer questions anymore.

Well, on that, I bid you farewell. See you in 6 months, a year, or more, when I'll think about passing by and saying hi

:( bye

@slhck: It definitely looks like you've been very busy lately. When I first started, you were one of the most active moderators on the site.
It's sad to see a 75k user leave...

@DragonLord slhck isn't leaving; he's just becoming less active, right?
@slhck you're not leaving, are you? slchk? soulhack? no leavy, right? leaving, is not, being applied, to you? correct? affirm?
O_O
GOOBY PLS.

4:08 PM
@slhck You were immensely helpful in guiding me during my first year at Super User
I remember asking you in the Ask a Super User Moderator chat room for help, and you were invaluable...

this is a really good question why does it not have more up votes? ▼▼▼▼

A: 2014 Moderator Election Q&A - Question Collection

allquixotic (or, if you like one enough, you may split it off as a separate answer for review within the community's 8). Oh boy, I like this one: Question: A diamond will be attached to everything you say and have said in the past, including questions, answers and comments. Everything you will do will ...

so, 2 new mods will be elected, 2 mods will be removed?

@Diogo I don't believe 2 mods are being removed

@Diogo Only one mod has suggested that he may step down.

hmm, nice

4:13 PM
Besides, it's been two years since the last election, and we need new moderators to keep up.

the point of this election isn't to simply replace retiring mods with new ones; the point of this election is to (slightly) expand the moderation team to reduce flag handling time, among other things

last election I nominated myself, this time I wont... for more than I year I'm not being active on SU...
but I desire good luck for everyone :D

I like SuperUser, but I see very little activity whenever I am here. maybe it is little activity on questions that I have an interest in (where I have answered)
I would like to see more activity
I will definitely try to answer some of the answer-less questions later when I get home, while I am creating my single screen sleep appl

my biggest issue with questions on SU is that 90% of them don't have enough info in the OP to provide a definitive answer, and it often requires chat-like back and forth in the comments to get enough info to help them
if we could invite <20rep users here to chat, it'd be great, but we can't

4:31 PM
@slhck has been a major asset to me and he really got me into doing community moderation as a regular user.

@DragonLord heh, yeah, same here, it seems I go back and forth with him in chat every month or two... the nice thing is he'll keep talking until you're satisfied, he won't cut you off

@DragonLord That's nice to hear, thank you.
@allquixotic No no, I'm staying, just with a little less participation.
Moderation always comes first though.

4:55 PM
@allquixotic Do note that @nhinkle has not been active lately, either.
