Q: Chrome extension to mark duplicate tabs?

UndoI suffer from tab abuse, namely overuse thereof. Many of my tabs are SE-related, and I tend to end up with two or more tabs pointing to the same page. This contributes to the clutter in my tab bar - I try to kill tabs when I don't need them anymore, but that doesn't always happen. Thenceforth, ...

@Manish ^ for when you get bored :P

@Undo why osx tag? ain't all chrome extension OS independient?

@Braiam edit it out if you want, I just figured that there might be some subtle difference between platforms.

nah

@Undo I doubt it, but I implemented some blob to prevent an extension from opening a new (informational) tab some time ago...
chrome.tabs.getAllInWindow(undefined, function (tabs) {
                        for (i = 0, tab; tab = tabs[i]; i += 1) {
                            if (tab.url && tab.url === "https://github.com/AllMangasReader-dev/AMR/commits/develop") {
                                chrome.tabs.update(tab.id, {
                                    selected : true
                                });
                                return;
                            }
                        }
                        chrome.tabs.create({

@ManishBot I DON'T SEE WHY NOT.
@ManishBot err what bad keyword?

@Seth Here is

Why is that a bad keyword?

spam
rm-ing

well ok..

@Seth there was some useless spam with those keywords in the past
not anymore

9:29 PM
@ManishEarth So what are we going to do with SmokeDetector?
Make it more accurate?

@hichris123 yeah, but I don't have time to do markov magic
@hichris123 link it up to Cinder

@ManishEarth How would you implement a markov chain with it?

yeah, seems like Tim's spam stopping tactics are working too well almost.

not sure

No spam now :-/

9:33 PM
@Seth Yeah... :(
Oy @Undo.

oy
Finally finished that &^#% chemistry test.
Guy messed up in his validation javascript, and it would fail every time. Yay for if (true){...} and Chrome dev tools :P

We're just starting chem in science...
@Undo Wait, your chem teacher uses JS to validate the test?

@hichris123 Yeah
His inability to spell boolValid the same way twice boggles the mind.

That's one smart teacher... if it worked. :P

@Undo apologies for stealing your chance at an extension -- looks like that post went hot :p

9:36 PM
Somehow I'm betting <= 1 of my teachers know what JS even is... :P

@ManishEarth rofl
did it?

The lord of the swag tweeted

oh, wow :P

"No, it doesn't exist, so I'll write it for you" says the awesome @ManishEarth : http://softwarerecs.stackexchange.com/a/1913/177 - #stackexchange people are awesome.

Ooooh I handled my 100th flag today
So far I've deleted 210 things of various type.

Man, I'm not sure whether that's a lot of flags or not, for a place like SR.

We've had over 800 flags total so far.

Wow :O

I'm told that's a lot of flags.
Most of them are those 'close plz' flags that mods don't handle, though.

Lots of bad comments on Manish's answer >:D
Not sure they should be deleted though.
@Undo Then they're using flags wrong. You don't flag custom unless you have too.

9:42 PM
no, not custom flags.
normal close flags

@Undo afaik you don't see those, they go to the queue.

yup
Oh, @ManishEarth and @hichris123, I have another idea.
A watchlist thing
So you can say, "notify me if x happens to y"
problem: we're running out of fire-inspired names

@Undo You talking SE posts?

@hichris123 yeah

Every time I try to review an edit on MSO it gets snatched away the second I click "approve" >.>
@Undo LavaList

gives up

@Undo Uh... you never know. :P

ooooh someone borked the websockets.

stares at Manish

You should star your favorite rooms so chat reminds you to join them all :)

@3ventic And you're back!

I should do that
But I should also not use crappy programs that cause BSOD
