3:00 AM
I think I have found a limit to where Logistics Pipes are just dumb. That limit is, trying to use them in conjunction with Tinker's Construct (can it be done? Yes. should it be done? Absolutely not.)

3 hours later…
5:41 AM
Hmm... I still can't decide on a power system. I kind of want a boiler again, but, expensive, maintenance... And I'm not sure what I'd want to do for fueling it. Hmmmm..... Decisions!
I think I've basically eliminated IC2 power generation for now (nuke and HV Solar manufacturing to come later)

3 hours later…
8:35 AM
I also need to figure out my new bases' powerplan
And also from what resources I want to build it

I have no clue about power at all... I've been vaguely thinking to make it run on blood maybe.

9:32 AM
I should probably just make everything bee powered
I know there's at least one way to burn food for energy, and I've got plenty of wheat from my bees!

@KevinvanderVelden You just have to live on bees.

Well I could go my usual route of mass boilers + mass skyquarries
But I thought I'd try something different this time!

I think I'm going to try using blood magic to power all of my base. Sounds like a challenge.
@KevinvanderVelden You should.

How do you get power from bloodmagic?
I don't see that anywhere

@KevinvanderVelden You can create lava/power generators or something with it.

9:40 AM
Aah that makes sense

The negative effects sound bad though.
If you fuck up and run out of stored lp and are running around somewhere far away you might end up with nausea until the shortage is fixed... And moving any serious distance on nausea sounds bad.

10:12 AM
How much energy does an mfr autospawner uses per spawn?

No idea, wiki says "A lot"

11:08 AM
@KevinvanderVelden Yea, that's all I found too. Terrible information that.

We (mostly you right now) should do SCIENCE to it!

Do you know of a way to trick a default spawner in believing a player is nearby so it keeps spawning mobs?
Since I kind of need an influx of mobs all the time to keep the lp system going.

11:31 AM
@Arperum I don't think so, maybe rotarycraft
But the main problem will be that mobs despawn if there are no players withing X range when the chunk is loaded

@KevinvanderVelden That can be fixed by building it in a separate dimension only used for mobfarming.

True, we should get one of those
Maybe I should put my bees in a pocket dimension as well actually
Sounds like a plan

It can't calculate through dimensions, so that problem can be seen as solved, the part where default mobspawners keep going is not.

afaik, there's no way to force-spawn mobs from spawners in this pack, short of the MFR autospawner
though honestly, "a lot" is kind of a relative term
I'm considering going for rotary craft, partially cause I'm in a high altitude biome so I can use the watermill to gather power
maybe I'll go the lame way of transfering power though, through the rotary dynamo and redstone conduits

11:53 AM
I might look into animal breeding with MFR, animals work too for me, and I just found something that would simplify some stuff.
And I can speed up their growth for some lp cost. If I add enough runes of sacrifice I think I can make that work. plus placing a couple things around that steal the hp of any player that enters my base to replenish lp. (to a minimum of three hearts)

MFR can also speed up growth :)
Also, that sounds like a good way to keep visitors away ;)

@Jochem It would eat my health too. And if they come over via the blood teleport system thing I'm planning to set up, the least they could do is pay for the transport a bit :)
@Jochem I'll have to check what costs most power, the lp way costs about 400 lp, I have no clear translation of lp to EU/other power systems yet though.
and makes them grow up in ~3 minutes instead of 20 minutes.

12:15 PM
Add a few sigils of breeding as well
That should work
Hmm, I wonder if you can sacrifice fish in some manner

12:44 PM
@KevinvanderVelden I would be surprised if you could, fish aren't ever entities, just items

@Jochem true, it would however be in the style of the mod I think

yeah, it would

@KevinvanderVelden sigil of breeding? Haven't seen any way to use fish. If mariculture adds living fish, then yes, otherwise I'd say no.

@Arperum Sigil of breeding from ars magica, that and a sigil of butchery are our meat/wool/leather farm
But just take the breeding one and you've got a free sources of animals

@KevinvanderVelden Ah, because blood magic has sigils too.
You can automate your watering can effect with blood magic too.

12:51 PM
@KevinvanderVelden cc @gnovice

2 hours later…
2:59 PM
@KevinvanderVelden I doubt you can sacrifice fish. They are never an entity, just an item. The most you can do with them power-wise is to turn them into fish oil and power a biogas engine (not quite as well as liquid honey would, but close). I'm currently putting in the infrastructure for this. :)

6:04 PM
Does anyone know what happened to OmniTools?

@JeffreyLin The APIs changed and the dev couldn't support all of them anymore, afaik. There was also something about some mod not allowing interaction with outside tools explicitly
mostly the dev just not updating though

user43095
@Jochem It was a pretty cool mod though.

user43095
Especially the OmniWrench.

user43095
But what happened to the wrench turtle?

user43095
I'm pretty sure that's a Thermal Expansion thing...

6:09 PM
not sure, honestly

user43095
Well, at least I can still power my pulverizer with redstone engines.

@JeffreyLin I was pretty sure they disabled that
like... a bunch of versions ago

user43095
Seriously?

user43095
Still worked in 1.4.7

user43095
But it has been a while...

6:12 PM
they produce something ridiculously low like .1MJ/t

user43095
Good enough for me

user43095
If I had enough, I could power a whole quarry

I really hope whoever else is on your server agrees with you, it's going to be painfully laggy if you run enough redstone engines to do anything useful

user43095
Singleplayer FTW

user43095
My server was pissing me off because I apparently couldn't port forward correctly

user43095

user43095
Aw, it doesn't supply power anymore

user43095
Now where will I get my early-game power?

6:37 PM
For the record, MFR Harvesters and Planters won't work with Magical Crops in the version we currently run, but support for them has been added to the newest version.

6:48 PM
@JeffreyLin It was a MiscPeripherals thing

user43095
@Unionhawk We don't have MiscPeripherals anymore?

@JeffreyLin Nope. OpenPeripherals is a thing, MiscPeripherals is no longer.

user43095
Aww

user43095
The nuke seems to have a GUI now.

user43095
It seems uranium blocks go in the center

7:02 PM
@JeffreyLin Nuke as in bomb or nuke as in IC2 reactor?

user43095
@Unionhawk The bomb

user43095
Not the reactor

user43095
Check it out in creative.

The bomb is stupid now. It takes way too much work to set up.

user43095
What goes in it?

user43095
7:04 PM
And why is nothing documented?

there are a couple things that can go in the center, tnt goes in the outer circle.

user43095
You mean ITNT

user43095
Aw crap, this is going to hurt

user43095
It's not very impressive

8:05 PM
@JeffreyLin clockwork engines

@KevinvanderVelden Yeah, I was going to say, literally anything else. If you're using redstone engines for power at all, you're doing it wrong

@Unionhawk specifically early game power? Clockwork engines
Though I usually skip those

Oh yeah, those are the handcrank engines. Right, right...

stirling engines are kinda handy too, or once you have a stack of charcoal to feed it once every so often, hobbyist steam engines
those things are more efficient than any other engine in the game, for MJ / charcoal

I have added a deep storage unit for sapplings
There were 64K of them in our AE system >.>

8:15 PM
@KevinvanderVelden nice.

Also added apples, though we "only" have 10k of those

1 hour later…
9:26 PM
Wither fight incoming!

9:39 PM
Wither fight over

9:53 PM
Also: Wither fight: no problem! After wither fight 403278394 deaths due to being an idiot -,-
Also a wither is worth 7 research points of all the basic things

user43095
10:34 PM
@KevinvanderVelden You died 40 million times?

@JeffreyLin roughly speaking

@JeffreyLin 403 million actually ;P

user43095
What? How?

10:48 PM
Stupidity
First time I was to busy typing about the spider attacking me to notice he was slowly hitting me toward a sludge pit ><
Then I figured I'd kill some witches! And noticed their potions did work on me and I had to escape
So I portable holed away
And then the hole closed
Also, 14 wither skeleton skulls

user43095
But how did you die 403 million times?

... MAGIC
Also random button mashing on the keyboard

@JeffreyLin Skill.

user43095
11:05 PM
@KevinvanderVelden Do you have kill me 1000 times bound to your spacebar?

Sure, why not
Also I just got 4 blocks of gold from sword drops from mobs in the nether :|

When @KevinvanderVelden does something, he does it by the millions. You should know this by now.
4

user43095
@Coronus Mashing the spacebar 403 times can be tiring.

11:42 PM
@JeffreyLin He has a bee mash his spacebar for him.

11:56 PM
I noticed that Cobalt has a faster mining speed. Is there any reason to have to mine anything at the Manyullyn level of hardness or no?
I mean, I guess probably blocks of the stuff, but...
