@jokerdino I understand Shog's point about getting out of the way, but I don't really think more than 9 of the other options would do much better. That's just my thinking, but if someone familiar with everyone in question believes I'm taking someone's slot, I'ld happily remove the bid.

I'm trying to get feedback from people that already have stars here or around that are already familiar, so I can get some outside view in on my thinking. It makes sense to me, but I don't know that it makes sense to everyone.
@MarcoCeppi I completely grasp that point. That's why I put it out there that my nomination was for "emergency use mod-powers" not "we expect you to be a mod all the time". Some found it distasteful, but I suppose that is what it is.
The fun would be to be able to shape a site better - but this leaves a bad feeling when you're not 100% sure the community agrees. An its a disaster after the community disagreed.
A those who understand it don't want the mantle, those who want the mantle don't necessarily understand it completely, and there are those that are willing to do it because hey, if you don't who else will.

I have no problem with saying "I have flaws, I'm just here to give you another option." I do have a problem when it's "I know I'll be bad at this, I don't even plan to be good at this, you can vote for me anyway!"
I need to find a way to playback a number of .dv4 files on Ubuntu 12.04 and Fedora 20, possibly after having converted them to a more conventional format. So far I have managed to convert the files with
mencoder -fps 25 ./input.dv4 -ovc copy -oac copy -o ./output.avi
which does a decent job. ...
On another meta post, a user suggested that we give rep to those who upvote answers, my suggestion is giving rep to those who give helpful flags.
That way we encourage the users to flag questions, speaking about myself, I flagged many questions, very few were closed, so why flagging in the firs...

@seth I know I posted this before, but I think you would be interested. Some sites even put in shame their mods deleting stuff and other aren't too far behind mods deleting

I said it was a bad question, but the main goal was " I'm trying to delete the partition that Ubuntu is on" , so a linux tool like Gparted / Live media could help. But it was badly written... anyway, now it's closed but if the user wants could rephrase the question and request a reopen. (of course it will then closed as duplicate , haha)

It's been so long since I've flagged things for closure.. I know back in my flagging days the mods weren't very active about closing things that got flagged.
