So the policy of "minor fixing" of posts (read: correcting like a teacher) is nebulous at best. It is on most SE sites. I'm fine with that. It's generally taken as "live and let live".
What I do have a problem with is when people that are new to this particular forum see fit to play Mrs Biddle the 4th grade grammar teacher and correct posts -- anyones, really, but mine especially (since they're the only ones I can see) -- from 2 years ago
My personal opinion is that non-owner post editing for any reason other than clarity (such as helping a non-native speaker) should be refused.

@monsto I seem to recall that we've discussed this exact thing a good while ago. Was that also you, or am I mixing things up?
/me is too lazy to search right now. Putting kids to bed...

"a while" ago i think is correct. How's it gong?
Yeah how're they doing? Enjoy your break? (did you get a break lol)

@monsto Put that to meta please, and let's get a constructive discussion going. Perhaps we can formulate a policy for this site?

Ok I will.

Found it, it was in October.

Why the hell are people always editing my posts? I'm friggin tired of it.
Uhh, that was supposed to be a link to the transcript...? Sorry.

heh
Yes I was TRULY annoyed that day.

@monsto break, what break? :-) That'll be when the last one marries, maybe! Thanks though, things are going great. 2013 was the most insanely busy year ever, but we're now settled into our new house and spending the weekends putting the finishing touches on things. Lamps. That kind of things.
Boys are now 1 and 4,and keeping us as busy as ever :-)

My youngest is 8. . . I kinda miss those 4 yr old days. So cute, innocent and full of independence.
OH meta-tip for parenting: sometimes it's ok to put the camera down.

@monsto good one, yes! I was sort of hoping it would get better after 4 years old...? The current situation is tiring but I guess it's normal for kids to be constantly challenging and testing their limits. Arthur C. Clarke said something about this...

When my now 13yr old was 7, we went out on a date with 2 of my friends and their daughters. I had one of the best visuals of my daughter that night. A lot of dads would have seen the moment and missed it while fumbling with the camera trying to get a shot. By letting that go, I have a pretty good memory that gets me right there everytime I think about it. (like right now heh)
by the time they're 7 & 4, they'll probably be spending a lot of time together. the older will have the younger in tow. They tend to adore older siblings... like a stray cat that you fed (=

@monsto Memories like that are precious. Priceless. Nothing in the world can replace them.
Found it: The limits of the possible can only be defined by going beyond them into the impossible. (Clarke's second law)
@monsto Yep, at the moment we're trying to make sure the younger one survives the onslaught from the older one, but it's already clear that No.2 is trying his best to copy every action from No.1 - good and bad, unfiltered, of course.

Thanks, I also just got the notification for it :-)
<--- (I am still wearing that moderator cap, so I get notified of meta posts.)
I'm sure that the powers that be will strip me of my mod duty soon, maybe next week, and announce the poor soul -- erm, lucky volunteer -- who will take my place. The meta topic has a lot of candidates, to be sure.

I'd have loved to have applied for that, I just don't have the time that I believe is required of it.

7:41 PM
@monsto That's a good consideration. It was discussed in chat and the biggest factor probably isn't the amount of time that is actually required, but much more the addiction. Why am I on the site, and meta, and chat, at least twice every. single. day? Not because the site needs it! But I just have this urge, you know? :-D
I did have your name on my recommendation shortlist though, among others. I love your no-nonsense style, plainly saying what's on your mind. Much can be said for diplomacy, but it's not direct.

OH I ABSOLUTELY know. I've run sites and forums that had nowhere near the traffic that warranted the attention I gave them. I just wouldn't want to half-ass it.

(gotta run. see you some other day!)

Thanks for that (= I think it works well to juxtapose the educated comments with cites and references with and experience pov.
ok cya. be good.
