@azimut I think that better approach than renaming a tag is to create synonyms.

You can do this either directly here.

But I think that a better way is to suggest the synonym in this thread on meta.

You r suggestion will have more visibility that way. And other users will have possibility to give feedback on your suggestion.

If used only in number-theoretic sense, it could be merged with elementary-number-theory.

The only question having this tag is this one.

The author of that question also created the tag wiki.

@MartinSleziak: I don't have the needed score of 5 in (mobius-inversion-formula). (nobody has). My impression is that tag synonym proposals are a very slow process. I've proposed two tag synonyms in the past and never got a single up- or dovnvote.

In this question the tag module-theory was created. I have replaced it by modules. Perhaps synonym could be created?

@azimut Why not posting in that meta thread I've mentioned instead.

If the mods will see the suggestion there and they will consider it reasonable/the post get a few upvotes, then a mod can do that.

IIRC, when a moderator creates tag synonyms, it is created immediately, it does not need votes from other users.

For example, this comment indicates that a moderator has merged two tags, as suggested in one of the posts.
