@HodofHod some people do like to add pdf warnings if the link is to a pdf, but we haven't really done it here. I'm not sure it is necessary since it is a small pdf, but if you decide to do it, probably add it like this [Berachot 4a (pdf)](...). But also, you're not linking straight to the pdf, but to hebrewbooks.org's page for the daf, which happens ti serve a pdf.

Update: v1.9 released. Add support for t(text gemara) flag. More spellings. Code improved.

You don't have to advertise that functionality per se, but while we're still building it it's not much harder to include it.

@HodofHod You can add Tamid in manually now with the links in the spreadsheet. It might just be best to say if masechet==tamid: link = http.... because there aren't that many dapim.

@DoubleAA I added it. I'm having trouble figuring out how to get it to show up in the dropdown form I created, but it's not that big a deal. The rest of the chapters still work

@Menachem IME edaf links often goof about linking to amud bet correctly.

@DoubleAA I think it is just that choosing from the dropdown box doesn't change the url in the address bar, you have to click on the next and previous daf links to get the correct URL to show up

I took a look at chabad.org's english translation of the Mishna Torah, and as time consuming as mechon mamre's links were, it looks like that one is going to take even longer

@Menachem I don't know that it is worth the effort to find high quality scans. The masechet just isn't quoted all that often.

Also, re lines 293ff ("annoying way of shortening 3-digit chapter numbers into 2 digit string+number combos" etc), it converts the tens' place to hex and keeps the ones' place as decimal. It does that for numbers less than 100, too (though it's the same as treating the whole thing as decimal), so you don't need cases. Just in case you ever want to 'fix' working code to make it simpler.

(I'm guessing you can even handle numbers less than 10 that way, though I don't know.)

one of the nice things about chabad.org links is that all you really need is the number. using the mobile site, I was able to more easily obtain the links for the different sefarim. I'm still in the middle of it, but so far I have the chabad.org link to every Section of Rambam. Now I just need to extract the chapter links: docs.google.com/spreadsheet/…

@HodofHod [continuing my "Also," above:] I've seen an old Hebrew-only Tanach where atop each page is the name of the book, often abbreviated, in Latin. M'lachim was "REG" IIRC and Shir Hashirim was "CANT" IIRC. (Also every chapter started with "CAPUT [roman numeral]" IIRC. (But this is a secondary consideration to what I wrote before the "Also,".)

I.e., is there an actual use case for this?

Is the title also a synonym? for example: Zeraim zerayim, zraim, zrayim, . Do we have to add zeraim in the list, or is the title part of the list already?
