quick question, my boss asked me to work with a GIS freelancer to decide on the tech stack for a GIS Android app.

I am new to the domain, but the freelancer mentioned Geoserver -> ArcObjects Java SDK. A cursory google showed me to Esri and its pay page, will this setup cost us a recurring monthly charge? Or is that just ArcGis Runtime only?

At my company they have asked me to advise them which systems they should use in order to build a GIS web application without a lot of pre-knowledge in GIS. I am the only one in this company that has experience in GIS with a master in GIS and some work experience (7 months) in GEO-ICT. I worked there with PostGIS, Geoserver and a simple webdevelopment (openlayers, HTLM, CSS).

I would advise them to use this as well, but they want some real complex techniques (like functions for users to spatially adapt the data and an on the fly report generator with maps). Techniques that I am far from ab…
