Whatroughbeast basically made a suggestion, which I followed, but he didn't delete the comment after I notified him of my edit

so after a day, I thought it would be cleaner if removed. (It even had an upvote in the meantime)

To be honest. I don't see a good treatise in your updated answer on how to attach end plates in a watertight manner.

To be fair. designing watertight enclosures is hard. Furthermore, the O.P. haven't put enough of his own effort neither into his design, nor into his question. It's also fair that the question is almost closed.

@dim As an aside, I would suggest highlighting responses to comments in some way. For example, preface them with "update: In response to Lorem Ipsum's comment". That way, it's clear that the comment have been addressed (or at least an effort has been made).

Mmh, yeah, I understand that part of my anwser is weak. Honestly, I can't do better. And to be frank, I initially just wanted to put an answer-comment, then I thought about this thread on meta... Well...

Done. Well, that's not the answer I'm the most proud of. But you're also right about the question. It actually occurred to me it was off-topic, but only after I was faced with the waterproof problematic. Well.... Thanks again anyway.
