12:00 AM
RELOAD!

Half-asleep
Night

Night ...
and hello
and.... anything I need to catch up on?
I guess not.

hey @SimonAndréForsberg!

WHat am I? chopped liver?

hey @rolfl!
lol

12:08 AM
Much better ;-)

(ding!)

I work in silent mode now days .....

yeah, you still have the 2nd in a tab?

Always
I have a dedicated "CR" window, with multiple CR and other SE tabs open
... on multiple computers.
Laptop, work, desktop.
Life has been a bit hectic recently though .... everything from dealing with a tree that fell over on the front yard, to now... i've just got back from my daughter's "spring concert".... listening to 20 11yr olds completely massacre a bunch of recorders (sorry @Morwenn)

damn...
... keeping up?

12:14 AM
mostly ... work has been tough though ....
consuming a lot of time.

I should seriously work more. I "spent" 3 days on a bug that, when I ended up tackling it, took 5 minutes 200 some seconds to fix. And another that took a bit less than 45 minutes of stepping through spaghetti.

and I now have to make a trip to pittsburgh

why the city of penguins?

IBM is a big company ;-)
The developers for a part of Watson are there.

ah

12:16 AM
0-0 ?
What's the series score?
2-1 to Montreal?

Montreal 2 Boston 1, yup
and 3-1 tonight!

SAVE!!!
Oh, wrong team.

:p

Busy installing updates on my TV
It is embarassing how many computers I have in the house

...
ugh

@Mat'sMug Thanks for the welcome! I am still trying to figure out how to insert code properly in the comment section. I guess I am not sure what they mean exactly by Indent four spaces. The Cntrl + K shortcut doesn't work here. What am I doing wrong, I wonder. — Joe Ray 59 secs ago
Comments have more limited formatting. You may use `backticks` to highlight "code", and *italic* or **bold** works too, and [links also](url) :) — Mat's Mug 44 secs ago

Proposed Q&A site for surprising questions not fitting any other site. For those who think outside of the box. For new communities growing at the internet rate. For the perfection of question and answer culture itself. The Speakers' Corner. Growing new SE sites fast.

Closed before being launched.

Seriously?

Take a look at the example questions.

no

So, I guess only completely random questions are on-topic.
Why does 5 come after 4 but not right before 100?

1:31 AM
Really, all questions closed as off-topic from any other SE should automatically be migrated there

Naah, that's PCG

If we fail to graduate, then perhaps we can move to Is My Code Right SE.

Q: When to use virtual identifier in c#?

Benjamin ShafabakhshWhat does virtual identifier means in c#? Or What is the difference between: public virtual string Type { get; set; } And public string Type { get; set; } Thanks

Have I missed some memo?

@JeroenVannevel I'd guess the intent is that they're saying it's about an off-site resource. IOW, this person simply needs a decent book to learn the basics of the language and what the keywords mean.

@JerryCoffin I suppose. That's a horrible way to use that closing reason though

2:09 AM
@JeroenVannevel I won't argue that. OTOH, although that close reason doesn't describe the current situation very well, they do have something of a point--we do almost need a reasonable way to close questions that the OP apparently just doesn't know enough yet to ask a real question.
It's not really a major problem here on CR, but on SO it's like being caught in a rising tide.

Can you clarify what is unclear about the documentation? — Jeroen Vannevel 19 mins ago
wow :)
if OP did read the docs, you're helping him clarify and improve his post; if OP did not RTFM, you're poking him and hint-hinting about RTFM'ing! Love it!

what a game!

@Mat'sMug It is a very good comment--covers the situation while remaining completely diplomatic.

@Mat'sMug Hehe, thanks. Creative Commons license, no worries
@JerryCoffin I agree; which is why I closed it as 'unclear what you're asking' (in combination with the comment)

2:22 AM

janosThere is a simpler solution. Consider this logic: if it's the first column, the value is always 1 if it's the last column, the value is always 1. You can code-block them, and then put them into spoilers

A: Changing the foreground and background colors of substrings based on string keywords

chillworldYou can do it a little more generic but I'm afraid you still have to test each. I don't know if your case is always changing to green or not. If not I suggest the following enum : /** * * @author chillworld */ public enum ColorMapperEnum { GREEN("[30;42m",Color.GREEN) , RED("[31;42m"...

@Nobody I didn't know those lists Existed until today, like a view of them like that
me and @Mat'sMug are top askers of all time

@Malachi It's only cool when you're name is high up on the list (such as me on the list for ) or at the top (me on the list for on scifi.SE).

@Donald.McLean - sorry, two things ..... I am at the top of the Java list ;-) ..... and 2.... nothing about being the best at twilight makes it cool ;-)

You mean Twilight Sparkle? :D

1:39 PM
(Shh .... don't tell anyone, but, the books are soo much better than the movies, and, I should know, I have read the books multiple times).

@rolfl The Twilight books are one of my favorite fantasy series of all time. I'm pretty sure that they're written in pure Venusian (as in Men Are From Mars, Women Are From Venus). Thus, most men just don't get all of the great stuff in the books. Their loss.

Out of interest, you a fanfictioner?

@rolfl No, my writing attempts are purely original.

And read it?
There's a good HP/Twilight crossover ;-)

@rolfl No, I don't read fan fiction either. One of my daughters writes fan fiction, though primarily for anime/manga.

1:42 PM
OK. Well, I am sharing more than I normally would ;-)

When I read "fan fiction" & "manga" in the same sentence, it often means "yaoi" x)

@Morwenn Since I'm not part of that culture, I have no idea what that means.

Don't Google it with images then.

@rolfl Your secret is safe.

Great projects have been started with, and great minds have been destroyed by, the simple words: "Don't Google X."

"Yaoi" more or less means "manga with men loving each other".

To clarify, our revolution is to delete as a challenge and to make @Doorknob a new moderator, and to start asking non-challenge questions, like "how can i golf this more?"

@Morwenn At least not on this computer anyway. I'm telecommuting and have all of my computing devices here at my fingertips.

@TheDoctor - wouldn't that whole discussion make more sense on the Nineteenth?

umm...
It does yes...

"How can I golf this more?" - what does that even mean?

1:49 PM
How can i make this code shorter. We, at PPCG, "golf" things to win challenges

It means you write your code really small, and print it on a golf-ball, in the dimples, then you tee it up, and drive it in to a bunker.

@TheDoctor And how many people use APL? That would be the perfect golfing language.

It is probably one of the places on the internet with the most APL :p
I have to go. See you all someday :)

Take care, @Morwenn. The Force will be with you.
Scala would be a good golfing language too. Much terser than Java.
