I've seen this formulation in a Wikipedia article; A first edition took place in July 2013. A second edition is scheduled for May 2015.
I would say: the first edition, the second edition.
But I am somewhat hesitant to make a grammatical correction, as I am not a native speaker.
Can somebody confirm whether the formulation in that article is (grammatically) correct?

@MartinSleziak I'm not a native speaker either, but I'm rather sure that The (or even Its) is better than A first edition.

@DamkerngT. Thanks for the confirmation.

@MartinSleziak You're welcome.

Thanks.
I have edited it.

BTW, welcome to the room!

Well thankfully the question asking about how to wipe selected people off the earth was deleted--especially after the edit.

@DamkerngT. What about passive-and-active? Would that be any better? — snailboat 21 hours ago
Could be!
