Q: What's this anime

Harry Saw this on 4chan wondering what this is would be greatly appreciated thank you all very much.

12:29 AM
maybe we should add a special notice for for users to try reverse googling their screenshot first

@user1306322 would also be a good idea to link to the meta posts on how to do it.....though then the next question is "will users even read it?"

@user1306322 I don't think that's something the SE software can do.

@senshin oh, come on!

@senshin i think he/she meant editing the tag wiki

@Memor-X it could prevent a portion of such questions

12:32 AM
@Memor-X Oh, sure, I guess you could do that, but do newfolk read those popups?

no, I meant a pop-up message like when you try posting a question with a title that's shorter than 15 characters
the red/blue bar thing, you know
it's easy as hell to id the tag client-side with js

@user1306322 naaa, that's something the network can't do, if it could we probably force new users to read the tour on recommendations/id requests
@user1306322 that may be the case, however that would kinda be unique to A&M.SE and Arqade.SE with the strict guidelines to ID Requests, something that would exists of SO.SE or Biology.SE.
every feature on A&M.SE is something that's implemented across every SE Site so for a new feature to be added i'd reckon it would have to be applicable to every other site

@Memor-X Just downvote and comment, they're new user, what do you expect? most of them didn't read the tour. I know, I didn't

@Memor-X what the network can't do is force the users read help, anything else is possible, as can be seed on SO
some sites have features unique to them
like Balsamiq mockups on UX
and some formula markup on math and physics
surely, it's much easier to implement a message "Have you tried reverse image search?" than any of that
and there's no need to defend the SE for not wanting to do that right now and here
@ShinobuOshino you should, it's cool and animated!

@user1306322 But then again, you have to consider the cost-benefit tradeoff - dealing with shoddy ID requests takes maybe a total of 10 minutes per day from users here, tops. Probably not worth paying a developer to reduce that to 5 min/day or whatever.

12:43 AM
@user1306322 wait, those are unique to those site? i thought the reason why i never saw it anywhere else was because there was no reason to add it. might need to check out the sandbox

@Memor-X Nope, they won't work on other sites.
There's just a flag that has them turned off.

Q: Which Stack Exchange sites use MathJax?

Ilmari KaronenAs the title says, I could use an exhaustive list of all Stack Exchange sites that use MathJax. If the list included any site-specific customizations made to the MathJax configuration on each site, that would be even better.

there are multiple sites that could benefit from this small feature, so in time we could make a proposal

But I feel like if such a thing was actually useful, SO would've already implemented it in an attempt to halt the never-ending tide of awful questions they get

SO is a whole different story, it's like a separate community now with all their problems
all other smaller sites are on a whole different level

12:57 AM
@senshin I don't think most people who post that shit are literate enough to read popups anyway.

1:28 AM
I just finished filling up some empty tag excerpts, but there are some left that I have no idea about
oh yeah, babeh, c'mon!

@user1306322 30 tags, not bad, I just do one. Heh.

1:44 AM
those are only excerpts for empty tags and although I've seen many more, I didn't look at the existing ones yet
but by the looks of it, about a half need mending
and I'm only talking about excerpts
I don't really know what exactly the wikis should incorporate
is there a good wiki for some tag that can be used as guideline?

2
A: Proposal: semi-standardized tag wikis for series tags

senshinExcerpts I propose that excerpts for series contain the full name of a series in Japanese (romanized; there's no point in tossing kanji/kana in there - yes, I know I'm responsible for adding a fair bit of unnecessary Japanese text to the excerpts; I now realize that was stupid). They should also...

alright, I'll take time to read it all…

if you standardized every tag and got them approved then you should get quite alot of rep, ofcause it will cost equal amount of time

we should agree on a template first
I mean right now some tags are in bad shape, but what I just proposed is still not the best version of it
and I don't really care about rep or time, it was fun creating those excerpts

I've been grinding my way through all the tags that have only one question on them and adding excerpts / skeletal wikis.

1:53 AM
the thing I don't understand is some tags are in English while others is in Japanese, why didn't we make it all Japanese, honestly I don't know the tittle in English, I only familiar with japan title

@ShinobuOshino It typically ends up that whoever makes the tag picks whichever title they're more familiar with.
Plus, in some cases, length restrictions (25 characters max) forces the use of one or the other.

@ShinobuOshino it's depends of where the akser saw the anime, Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion in japan is Kōdo Giasu: Hangyaku no Rurūshu so if the asker was in japan and made the tag originally it could have been Kōdo Giasu

I see all non-latin characters were removed in tag excerpts
but it makes sense and I can't argue

@user1306322 Yeah, I didn't see any benefit to keeping Japanese there
It's not like we have a large Japanese-speaking userbase here that doesn't also know English.

plus there's synonyms but the tag needs to exists which needs at least 1 question to it, if possible i would rather be able to create new tag synonyms for series like My HiME which could also be Mai Hime even if the tag doesn't exists yet

2:00 AM
@Memor-X fair enough, but I need to reread again when I read tittle like From the New World or the familiar of zero before recognize the series

@ShinobuOshino I've always seen it mentioned as "Shinsekai Yori" on the net
I suppose we could google the romanized and translated titles and see which has more results to decide which should be the first in the excerpt?
now that I've said it, it sounds like a silly argument

the problem is, sometimes I search for a tag and didn't realize they're on English

I'm more comfortable with Japanese titles, but at the end of the day I think the majority of English speakers are more familiar with the English versions in most cases.

you can always google the name you know and see how it's translated or find the romanized title

The English version is the one that will come up on Wiki and ANN and most other semi-official sites. Romaji titles are hard to distinguish if you don't know any Japanese but do know English.

2:06 AM
as I see it, there's currently not much to choose from in terms of "idealistic templates" of excerpts, but there are many excerpts that need adding some basic plot description

There's no reason we can't have the Japanese title as a synonym though.

@LoganM is it even necessary? usually tags show up if their excerpts or wikis include the other name, even if there isn't a tag synonim

Q: Why do fansubed animes have the reminder of not selling their fan sub product?

PinocchioWhy do fansubed animes have the reminder of not selling their fan sub product? Sometimes they have the following reminder during the show: "This is a free fansub: not for sale, rent, or auction" I was wondering why that was necessary. Is it so that they do not get in legal problems or why is it...

@LoganM Unless one of the mods feels like going through and adding synonyms, though, this is kind of impractical insofar as most tags don't have anybody with enough rep to vote for a synonym.

@user1306322 Sure. Otherwise it will still get created by some new user who doesn't know the different titles. Tag wikis aren't terribly easy to search for and 99% of users won't bother.
@senshin I ask mods here to add synonyms all the time.

2:09 AM
the tags need to actually exists aswell

Yes, creating a synonym is annoyingly impractical for non-moderators.
@Sakamoto Aren't fansubs off-topic? I thought we decided that pretty early on.
Yep, explicitly listed as off-topic on anime.stackexchange.com/help/on-topic

@LoganM I interpreted that as just meaning questions like "should I get Commie or gg for this anime" were off-topic

yeah, that^

Did you folks agree that questions about the culture of fansubbing were off-topic too?

I thought so, but I don't remember
I also don't really care too much

2:18 AM
they each have their own rules, so it would be pretty hard to find an expert on all of them here
and they're borderline illegal, so

Fansubs aren't really borderline illegal. They're just plain illegal.

IMO, the culture of fansubbing was, at least historically, an integral part of the anime experience for non-Japanese speakers, so I think that at minimum, historical perspectives on how fansubbing operated would make for good questions here.

and what sources can anyone possibly cite? an admin's post on a fansub blog?

At least in 90% of the world

@LoganM not in some countries, it isn't
@senshin general historical stuff looks like fun
non-latin characters running wild
so should they be removed from all excerpts or what?

2:24 AM
@user1306322 This argument is occasionally made, but in basically every Berne convention country, they're completely illegal. There are very few of these (26 in the UN, most of which are small poor countries).

@user1306322 lol I'm pretty sure nobody needs to know how to write Nagaru Tanigawa's name in kanji to figure out they should use . If you want to fix that one up, you may as well slay the Japanese characters while you're at it.

@LoganM yeah, and the SE network's legal part seems to reside in one of those places, so they usually tend to ban any illegal stuff
@senshin on it!
> Durarara!! (デュラララ!!?, which the author has stated means nothing), often romanized as DRRR!! in Japan, is a Japanese light novel series written by Ryohgo Narita, with illustrations by Suzuhito Yasuda, that has also been adapted into a Japanese anime series and as a manga.
I like this one, can it stay?

Just to clarify, I meant there are 26 countries in the U.N. which are not a part of the Berne convention. The Berne convention has 167 members.

that point has been made before on SE and just remember that they don't risk with law

We shouldn't ourselves be concerned with the legal issues. That's for SE's legal team to decide and deal with.

> No Matter How I Look at It, It’s You Guys' Fault I’m Not Popular! (私がモテないのはどう考えてもお前らが悪い! Watashi ga Motenai no wa dō Kangaetemo Omaera ga Warui!) or WataMote (ワタモテ) is the name of a manga written and illustrated by Nico Tanigawa, and it's anime adaptation by Silver Link.
extra terrible

So, we have and . Which way to synonymize?
(Personally, I prefer Bodacious Space Pirates for extra hilarity.)

it's fun to figure out the order of precedence of genre terms when describing some anime
like "cyberpunk psychological drama" or "supernatural slice of life comedy"
Just finished another batch of suggested edits

2:49 AM
@senshin their both the same really, bodacious = moretsu as in the opening the last line is "Bodacious" in the subs but you hear moretsu, only difference is that since the covers show them in space it's assumed space pirates, but westerners are idiots and need to be told

@senshin fun, but feels sketchy
when the seriousization comes to A&M it'll be reverted to
aww my top answer is not related to anime

@user1306322 glowing eye and a big cannon capable of shooting rocks? It's explain perfectly well. that's what they do whole series. I'm not really sure how to describe this anime though. it's confusing

@ShinobuOshino I watched it and I am not a fan.

@user1306322 neither do I, but honestly I think the story base is interesting, they just don't show it well...
Ok, fuck my english

@ShinobuOshino why, is it sexy?
looks like the first season of Space Brothers lasted for 99 episodes

Q: What defines one "season" of anime?

MakotoFrom what I've been able to follow, the seasons of anime shows have been tied to thirteen week blocks, directly correlating with the actual season in Japan (for instance, this is the Winter 2013 season). However, there are instances in which shows with more than 13 episodes are considered to hav...

I decided to take a break from all that young girl romance struggles and rewatch GTO
it all makes so much more sense now than five years ago

Q: Why does Seki-kun need a voice actor?

MakotoI've watched most of Tonari no Seki-kun, and all I can hear from his voice actor are grunts and groans, and a few other occasional sounds of panic or excitement. Why does this require a voice actor at all? I mention this because, in Non Non Biyori, the only male character didn't have any sounds...

@user1306322 which did you see first the OVA or the Series, i've found that those who have seen the OVA who then go to see the series rage about how bad the series is. i've set to see the OVA yet but i found the series enjoyable. they kinda forced Yomi to be a recluse rather then develop her relationship with Mato

@Memor-X lol I saw the series then I saw the OVA and it still made so little sense
it's like the whole thing is a discarded rough sketch of a script, and the real thing was mistakenly thrown away

@user1306322 the 2 aren't related apart from the fact that some characters are reused, like how the game is not related to either anime
well, Black Rock Shooter was originally just another form of Miku

I'm watching GTO right now and there's a scene where one of the students explains some Japanese history while other guys are listening in awe

@user1306322 GTO?

@Memor-X yes, Great Teacher Onizuka
I will never accept the importance of some stupid political or economical reforms of past over the cool, awesome and totally usable technological products of today

3:46 AM
I'd never accept the importance of either history or technology over that of cute anime girls.

for some reason wikipedia users decided it's fine to call "Japanese TV drama" category "dorama" in Russian

@LoganM i would reject reality if it meant i could get that

@Memor-X thankfully, the reality allows us to have both
we just gotta ask the right questions on SO

@user1306322 i meant one to actually live with

@Memor-X I suppose that can also be achieved with proper scripting
btw if anyone is working in a robotics R&D company, please pm me, I'd like to work as a researcher in fantasy and AI field

3:50 AM
@Memor-X The OVA is kind of meh (weaker animation, for one), IMO.

Q: Need help identifying this anime from about 18 years ago

Shelby. SI remember watching this when I was a little kid, but I barely remember anything at all. @ShinobuOshino can you get a bigger image?

@LoganM how'd you find that?

@LoganM thanking you, now i have a good list of games too research to see if i want them

uh, nvm

4:12 AM
@ShinobuOshino Rather famous image, so I knew I could get it with Google reverse image search
FWIW my desktop only has about half as many games (almost all eroge).

@LoganM I forgot google reverse
my desktop only has two rows icon, I don't understand how they have so many game

@LoganM mine would be like that if i installed every eroge i have and just left it on the desktop, i have about 200 if you don't count remakes like Realta Nua or REBORN. ofcause for me to remember which ones i have played or not i only install them if i'm up to playing them
and ofcause there's the 50+ programs and game which i don't use that i just threw in my jump folder, i'll get a screenshot tonight maybe

Looks like it's about 260 games they have. It would probably only take a couple years to play through everything once if you have a reasonable pace.

geez, how can you guys have so many eroge? I only have one

@LoganM if i didn't have a job i could go quicker, i reckon i could spend about a day for each route in Aoishiro, it took me 5 5-6 hour sessions to get though a route in Canvas 2

4:18 AM
two actuallly but one is broken

@Memor-X Wow, you must read pretty slowly. The whole of Canvas 2 took me maybe 25 hours.
At least assuming I'm not misremembering

@ShinobuOshino i have good suppliers, though getting Fate/Stay Night Relta Nua and Kamidori Alchemy Miester Gold was a bitch
@LoganM as in every route and listening to the voices?

@Memor-X Yeah
@ShinobuOshino Eroge is life

@LoganM seems like you are master eroge... any suggestion? the one with good art

I spend more time on eroge than I do on anime. I actually consider myself to be about average as an anime fan, but pretty knowledgeable about eroge.

4:26 AM
@LoganM hmmmm, maybe it's because with some of the later routes i started from the beginning (like with Tomoko) but i didn't think i was that slow
@ShinobuOshino Aoishiro, Steins;Gate, Katahane

@ShinobuOshino Everyone has different standards for art. I suggest you just look through vndb.org/v/all?q=;fil=tagspoil-0;o=d;s=rating and look at the images to see if there's any you like the style of.

@Memor-X wha? Steins;Gate is eroge?

@ShinobuOshino VN. Not eroge.

@ShinobuOshino oh, if you mean with H scenes then Katahane, Fate/Stay Night and Canvas 2

@LoganM nice... can I download it from there? I'm a pirate btw :p

4:28 AM
@ShinobuOshino No.

@Memor-X huh? fate is eroge?

There are other sites you can download from though.
I think I listed a lot of them before. Can't seem to find it now though
Found it
Apr 19 '13 at 1:44, by Logan M
@Neko_Kun http://www.anime-sharing.com/forum/index.php, http://erogedownload.com/downloads/, http://www.craneanime.com/, and occasionally http://www.nyaa.eu/ are the other sites I use besides fuwanovel.
Anyway, unfortunately most eroge never get translated, so unless you can read Japanese the supply is quite limited.

@ShinobuOshino yep if it's not Realta Nua which is the all ages version, but english patches tend to add them. the original patch by mirror moon used Realta Nua to add the voices to the original PC while the latest one by Jacktheinfinate on Beasts Lair gets the downloaded version of Realta Nua and adds H Scene into it but gives the option to switch them on or off so you can get every CG
i tend not to make the distinction between eroge and visual novel, to me they are all visual novels
@LoganM 220 is a good supply, all the ones i have (except Fate/Hollow Ataraxia) have full patches
and i only get ones which are patched
hang on, 219, i forgot Shuffle! Essence was dropped

In terms of absolute numbers, there's a decent number that are translated, but there are still tons of great ones that are not translated.

@LoganM good point, need to hurry up and be able to read japanese so i can expand my collection....and so i don't have to wait on Sono Hanabira translations

4:37 AM
Of my favorite 50 or so games, I'd say only about 30% were translated to English.

@LoganM great, thanks.
ok now I need to learn japanese

@ShinobuOshino don't we all

oh shit new GoT episode!

@user1306322 GoT?

@ShinobuOshino Game of Thrones

4:40 AM
@user1306322 by the time you finish reading this message it would have been pirated by 1.2 million people, mostly australians

@user1306322 if it's not anime, I never watch it

@Memor-X and me coz we ain't got no HBO in Russia

4:57 AM

@ShinobuOshino it's funny how he's had his hand waiting there just for that

just post a gif and I couldn't even find the title cuz all of the result is japanese..shame on me

@ShinobuOshino google the text between japanese braces and voila
Yondemasuyo, Azazel-san

If you pick a different frame you can get English results. Try one where the guy is flipping the thing at her.
I get English results with this one:

just wondering, how is this not closed as off topic or even note receive a single close vote? doesn't it fall under "unannounced/speculative future events"

5:12 AM
@Memor-X probably coz nobody knew what was going on in the series at the point when this was asked
can anyone think of a tag excerpt for ?

@Memor-X Yes it does. That's a relatively new policy though and the question was before it was standardized.

@user1306322 Kara no Kyoukai (空の境界, ?) is one of TYPE-MOON's earliest works authored by Nasu Kinoko and illustrated by Takeuchi Takashi. It is also known under the name Rakkyo (らっきょ, ?), and its tagline is the Garden of sinners.

@Memor-X no, no, no, that's wikipedia stuff
we need our own short descriptions
I mean the plot and genre
I know it's supernatural future prediction stuff but that's not it

@user1306322 I see a lot tag use wiki, I don't really see a problem with that

@ShinobuOshino well, that is a problem, actually, coz wiki is wiki and I'm talking about excerpts

5:16 AM
Anyway, regarding that question, you're welcome to VtC it yourself. I'm too lazy though.

needs to be more condensed

@user1306322 talking genre I think it should be supernatural horror or something, only watch first movie

in any case, I welcome everyone to take a look at your favorite tags and edit the inaccuracies or add story description if it's missing
watching GoT now and madam Daeneris chose to punish the former slave masters instead of listening to her advisor and answering with mercy
after watching GTO, I gotta say it's a dick move by khalesi

@user1306322 I will if there's a simple and good example about how to write it. You see, my english is pretty bad. and I can't write a lot stuff.

@ShinobuOshino throw in your sketches in this chat and we'll make it cool together

5:21 AM
@user1306322 if i put some effort into it
"Kara no Kyoukai (the Garden of Sinners) is a supernatural novel series authored by TYPE-MOON's Nasu Kinoko regardded to be set in an alternate parallel universe to TYPE-MOON's other series, Tsukihime and Fate/stay night. it's chapters have since been adapted into anime movies.

It follows Shiki Ryougi. A teenage girl who possesses the "Mystic Eyes of Death Perception" which allows her to see the "death" of everything in existence and kill the object by destroying its "origin".

it's not like we're calculating the orbit trajectory for Mars, we can fix the mistakes later

Q: How accurate is the World Map in The Irregular at Magic High School?

Miharu DanteIn the monologue you may have remembered a world map being displayed. The funny thing was that they got East and West Europe wrong as seen in the image below. Did anyone notice this?

@Memor-X I think it contain spoiler, or.... I don't understand much from first movie. I mean, I don't remember anything about Mystic Eyes of Death Perception from first movie

with tsukihime and fate/stay night i would suggest making links so that they link to the other tag's wikis

@user1306322 well, let me write it first

5:24 AM
> Kara no Kyoukai (the Garden of Sinners) is a supernatural novel by Nasu Kinoko, set in a universe parallel to studio TYPE-MOON's other series, "Tsukihime" and "Fate/stay night".
is my version of excerpt
no plot description coz it's a lot of text already
I think the wiki should explain the plot

@user1306322 I think it's too short, but what does excerpt do exactly? if it's only for user to recognize the series I think it's enough

@ShinobuOshino first movie she wake up with the Mystic Eyes, that's why she damages them in the first place and Touko explains what they are later on, i wouldn't so much call that a spoiler as i would say "Hayate is the master of the Book of Darkness" is a spoiler

@ShinobuOshino yes, it's exactly for that

@user1306322 build the wiki and then make the first paragraph the tag summary, that's what i would do

@Memor-X then you need to write that first paragraph of the wiki with the thought that it would describe the series well enough in a very small number of words
which is kinda wrong
despite the name "excerpt", it's not actually an excerpt, but a very short summary

5:32 AM
@user1306322 not really, in my opinion the summary isn't to attract new views, it just points out the name(s), type of media (anime/manga/visual novel/light novel/game) and who it was done by (even adding year of release) so when an asker goes to add the tag they start typing it out, see this info, if unsure if it's the right tag they can check out the more information and read the synopsis

well yeah, the tag excerpt serves the purpose of identification
not sure what I said before, but that is the thought I intended to convey

Q: Does Natsu have an known actual age?

Miharu DanteWhilst looking around the Fairy Tail tag, I was looking again at a question here asked by Shinoubo, I finally decided to pop the question "How old is Natsu". I thought it would have been revealed further on in the series, but from the looks of it they haven't although the ages of Lucy, Erza and G...

6:06 AM
So I apparently just got edit privileges. When should I reject/accept edits? In most cases it seems pretty clear cut, but I'm not sure about some cases. e.g. a different user adds additional information that isn't included by the OP. In that case, would rejecting the edit be "correct"?

6:16 AM
@Maroon not sure = skip
and I'm almost never sure about content edits of anime I haven't seen

@Maroon i'd say it's depends on what information they are adding, if they adding the japanese names next to English names or doing some grammar/punctuation fixing i'd say that's fine but if they trying to define the question more than what the OP did (ie. an id request and a person adding more info on the OP's description) either reject stating your reason or ignore
if your talking about @senshin 's edits i normally accept them since from what i've seen all of his/hers has been grammar/punctuation fixing, if he got a small thing wrong i'd still accept it and fix his/her edit afterwords

@Memor-X you can use "their" as a gender-neutral word
I forgot how those are called in English :p
"pronoun" says wikipedia
@senshin about this edit anime.stackexchange.com/review/suggested-edits/5687 says it's about id-ing a character among others, does this q not fall under that description?

6:31 AM
@Maroon I usually reject that kind of edit, because it count as radical change, but sometimes, others accept it maybe because the original meaning or intent of the post is still the same. It's kinda different perspective actually

@user1306322 Huh. I guess it does say that. My mistake. I think that's a bit of an overbroad usage of the tag, though, so I guess I'll make a meta post about it at some point.

@senshin yeah, doesn't seem very straightforward

@user1306322 ahhhh, i have to keep that in mind for when i review Trishia's entrance in my fanfic since it's not until after the fight is it confirmed by Alicia that Trishia is a woman. would make describing her attacks easier
@user1306322 i feel as if i seen questions like that but i can't remember them or the tags they used

@Memor-X If you're open to the possibility of using somewhat nonstandard English, there's a whole host of gender-neutral pronouns available to you. Personally, I'm a fan of 1975 Spivak.

@Memor-X you can probably find them by searching words "who is this" "man" "woman" etc
Singular they is the use of they, or its inflected forms, such as them or their, to refer to a single person or an antecedent that is singular in form. It typically occurs with an antecedent of indeterminate gender, as in sentences such as: * "Everyone returned to their seats." * "Somebody left their umbrella in the office. Would they please collect it." * "If a person doesn't want to go on living, they are often very difficult to help. * "The patient should be told at the outset how much they will be required to pay." * "But a journalist should not be forced to reveal their source...
how fun

@Memor-X If you look through this query, a lot of the questions will be on identifying something within a show rather than identifying a show itself.

@senshin whoa what's with the hardcore tools, you can use normal search for that

@user1306322 Can you search for " and at least one more tag"?

@senshin no i'm more thinking of a question which the asker knows of the series but they point out a reoccurring background character

@senshin I tried but I failed. Also what Memor-x said.

Q: Who is this female character from the 2005 series?

KrazerIn the second half of the 233rd episode of the 2005 Doraemon series, titled "Gravity Paint" (重力ペンキ). There seems to be a new girl (left most one in the picture below) in the group. Who is she? When did she first appear? This portion of the episode was adapted from Chapter 72 (or the 2nd Chapte...

Q: Who are these characters in the bookstore?

coleopteristIn Episode 16, when Kagami, Tsukasa, and Miyuki decide to visit Konata at her part-time job, the latter asks them to pick up the latest release of a couple of manga. At the bookstore, they are served by a character who doesn't appear to be the "standard" extra seen in the series. Even after the t...

I recently asked a lot of questions about Don't Starve game and yesterday it killed all my saves and progress. My feelings towards the incoming answers are very mixed.

7:16 AM
so, there was a coworker of mine and she was looking at my desktop, and my wallpaper is an action figure of SAO and she said, "aw, that's cute, that kids toys", dammit woman, it's not a kid toys, it is an action figure.

I still don't understand figures
bah, figures!

@user1306322 it's cute
cute is justice, moe is absolute

I have just one poster of a game that nobody's probably even heard of, but I was following the development closely and it's signed by the creator, so it's kinda cool and reminds me that great things can be done with enough effort

I buy everything I can that comes out and is Miki-related. For other figures/posters/stuff, I won't buy it unless it's the sort of thing that I'd want sitting around to look at relatively often (at least a couple times a week).

usually I stop seeing things I look at very often, so I prefer not to put anything I really like in plain sight
but maybe if I did, things would be different for me…

7:29 AM
If I have those, I'll take it anywhere, and see it everyday.
I wont be able to live without it,

I wouldn't do that with a figure. Too small and annoying to carry around everywhere. I've considered doing it with a dakimakura, but unfortunately I can't get away with that with my current job.

@LoganM I bet staff at Pornhub can

@user1306322 My dakimakura is perfectly SFW. The problem is that it would kill my reputation.

@LoganM not the big one, small one, chibi one, the big one stays home.

At least, the one I'd be bringing is SFW

7:32 AM
there was an imgur story a few days back, they say their manager starts looking with suspicion at staff who don't have anything erotic around their workplace
@LoganM hello kitty bikers tend to disagree

I would love to bought a dakimura, unfortunately, I never see any store that sells it

things you describe… they're not enough and too much at the same time for me

TBH the real problem is that if I brought it to work, I'd have a hard time getting work done. I'd spend the whole day staring at it.

@LoganM I don't see any problem

@LoganM or… you could train your focus

7:37 AM
@ShinobuOshino I have to do work sometime, or else I won't be able to make enough money for more Miki stuff.

earning money to buy something that interferes with earning money…

is a good thing

I remember a few years back there were "professional gamers" in Diablo 3 who earned some cash by farming items and selling them on real money auction house which is closing soon
it was not a very successful business for anyone outside asian countries
according to the internet, but what does it know :p

@user1306322 I wish there were a "profesional otaku" or something, I will apply that job imidiately

@ShinobuOshino I think I've heard of paid reviews a few times

7:41 AM
@user1306322 sign me in

"up"
you can only sign in if you're already signed up ;)
I also hate these confusing phrases in English
"count me in" is what I'd pick

@user1306322 sign me up, count me in, whatever, just put me in charge, pay me for watching anime, it will be my dream job

my classmates hated me in English classes :p
@ShinobuOshino they don't pay much though and it's a tough job, much like gamedev quality assurance

@user1306322 hmm,, I need to work out my english and japanese first. I do quite well in my own language.
In my mind actually
I think
[animation-mistakes]? what is this tag??
huh? how do I make tag in chat?

I knew one guy who was super prolific in Diablo 3 forums and after several years of community management for free Blizzard just marked his profile as MVP and that was it. By the time that happened most of the guys that cheered together with him were averted by the changes made to the game and left, but he… he was unstoppable. So only if you're like that guy, you may try for such a profession, but otherwise it's better to get a less fun job that pays more.

7:48 AM
@ShinobuOshino [tag:animation-mistakes] for

gotta add "tag:"

@LoganM oh I see, anyway, what in the name of anime gods is that?
@user1306322 hm, I can do that

@ShinobuOshino ever seen an eromanga page where a character has 3 hands?

@user1306322 hm, I can do that

@ShinobuOshino Meh. Not a very good tag, but I also don't see much harm in it at the moment. If someone else wants to delete it then that's fine, but I can't be bothered.

7:50 AM
@user1306322 wut
@LoganM I'll ask it on meta sometimes
anyway, I have to go home now
c ya

I should also go home, considering it's nearly 4 am

I woke up "yesterday" at 8 in the evening, so
oh, it's midday of the "next day" for me
some more episodes of GTO it is

8:18 AM
it just hit me that the line in the beginning of each Soul Eater episode that Maka says is a proverb (as opposed to a pronoun, hehe) that many languages have
"A sound mind in a healthy body"
"A Sound Soul Dwells Within a Sound Mind and a Sound Body"
(((soul)mind)body)

Q: Who is this? Please help thanks

Harry I saw this on 4chan and was wondering what this is. Could anyone help thanks!

9:11 AM
Me and my friend (who was severely abused by Mononoke-hime on a lengthy school trip and started to hate all anime since then) were playing a guessing game by doing impressions of popular characters over skype. When he said "toot-too-roo" I was about to guess Mayushi from Steins;gate but then I remembered his childhood trauma and got very confused. After making a lot of wrong guesses, he finally said it was the little dog from the new Scooby Doo cartoon, which I may or may not have seen before.

Q: What's the significance of this Michelangelo reference?

MaroonIn the penultimate episode of Puella Magi Madoka Magica, we briefly see this image, possibly formed by the ice in a glass of alcohol when Madoka's mother is at the bar with Madoka's teacher. (This image comes right before a "break" from that scene before the episode shifts back to Homura's room, ...

teachers near episode 19 act like kids or something
how can seeing a smart student answer your question to the max be a cause to get mad?
If anything, a school is a place to study and learn new things, even for teachers
what the hell are all they thinking blaming a student for her knowledge
I get that this is a plot device to teach the viewers something wise, but why use teachers as antagonists in this situation is beyond my understanding
freaking Onizuka teaching everyone around how to lighten up!

Q: Why does anime usually air at night in Japan?

chiraleMany anime available are broadcasted very late in Japan. Few examples: Photokano, 1:58 AM Hayate no Gotoku! Cuties, 1:35 AM Chihayafuru 2, 1:53 AM Why are anime often aired at night in Japan even though they get better timeslots when exported to other countries? When did TV stations start to ...

I don't remember sharing it at all. If I did, it was almost certainly somewhere on this site.

@LoganM oh that's easy to explain: anime.stackexchange.com/a/4179/63

@Krazer I thought that share links don't count it if the traffic is from another site on the network.
I can't seem to find any documentation of that now though, so maybe I was just wrong
Actually it's listed at meta.stackexchange.com/a/188733 but only for Publicist, so maybe it doesn't apply to the other ones or something.
Okay based on the revision history of that post, it shouldn't be given out for any of the 3 for links within the network. So either this is a bug, or that post is wrong, or someone else copied the link somewhere else.

@LoganM You're probably right, but I have another possible theory
Apparently (according to Shog) if someone copies the text of your answer to another domain and it generates a bunch of inbound links

@Krazer That's true. I did consider that it could be e.g. a scraper site.
Google doesn't turn any up which match the text of my post though
Interestingly, though, Google does have my referral link indexed. It could be that a small number of people are coming from that. I don't know if that even makes sense, but it seems possible.

@user1306322 pride/face, by doing so she's indirectly belittling the teacher and undermining the student teacher hierarchy

4:00 PM
@Krazer look like that, there was a meltdown scene where the girl was telling about a pyramid built by a new emperor which later broke (imagine a pyramid breaking) and it was considered a sign of said emperor's diminishing authority, and the teach thought the girl was telling that it's her authority that is diminishing, so she raged heavily and said some things she shouldn't have
primarily it was pride and insecurity
the more I watch the series, the more I see psychological problems mainly seen in young people, just like that
most teachers also act very immature for that reason, it seems

@ton.yeung The research itself might be, but I find the writing here (like most popsci writings) to be impenetrable. I read the whole thing and I have no idea any of what they're talking about, and it's research that I'm at least nominally familiar with.

lol. I can't believe my silly "everyone-hates-everyone" answer on MSO is up to 326 votes.

8:17 PM
this may be the best answer ever posted on MSO — Jeff Atwood ♦ yesterday

@Mysticial Bad luck Mysticial, writes a highly voted answer on MSO. No rep.

Incidentally, that question is at nearly 50k views.
The revision history is pretty epic as well

9:02 PM
@LoganM There was a Hacker News link directly to my answer. That explains why it managed to climb so high despite starting all the way at the bottom.

@Mysticial I saw that one
