I'm not sure if this is applicable to your situation, but my friend who is studying to become a lawyer often gets asked to verify a few legal documents now and then, oversee a contract signing and other lawyer stuff, recently started charging those people his normal price for such services and the number of such distractions has dramatically decreased

what I'm saying is he stopped helping out for free because simply put a job is a job and it's worth something

@ShinobuOshino well, not that you don't absolutely have to, but the teacher will generally always say "stand up when you answer a question" if you start answering while sitting, but that depends on teacher

I've had a few teachers in school who didn't enforce this strict etiquette policy

some uni professors even told us not to stand up all the time since they asked too many questions for it to look as a polite gesture

@Eric about the blood flow I agree, I know this from experience, but I'm not so sure it helps think better. Personally I start feeling pain in the back and neck after standing for more than an hour, and then I'll think better in a more relaxed position, so I suppose there is a time factor during which it works and then you gotta take a break

@user1306322 Well, here is where I think it varies by person. For me, getting that blood flow can get me out of "zombie mode" (when I'm just sinking in my chair and staring). Walking helps even more, but standing alone often can do it.

@ShinobuOshino after watching some various anime about high school I started wishing my high school times were anything like that. My hs life was extraordinarily boring, so I had to figure out how to have fun on my own, which made me better at that, which is, I guess, a good thing

@Eric for me it's about what I'm doing, and not the position. If it's interesting, I will be able to work on it even while crouching

but my back will start hurting badly, so I'll have to deal with that after I'm done

@MiharuDante You should really aim for 3k before we graduate rather than 2k IMO. 2k will be edit privileges, which are important (easily one of the most commonly used), but 3k is close/reopen votes, and we're going to need at least a few more users at that level once we graduate.

I'm not entirely sure either.

Most network code deals with bytes. But C/C++ doesn't have a byte type. So they use char instead. And all the C library functions that start with str*.
