@MadaraUchiha here is your evil clone. ._.

@iKlsR what about your's?

like oregasiu

@NaingLinAung Depends on what you've seen and what you like.

@NaingLinAung What flavors are you looking for?
@NaingLinAung Oregairu, you mean?

@Krazer yep :D sorry for misspell

12:08 AM
@Krazer NSFW
@MadaraUchiha Your avatar.. XD

@NaingLinAung have you seen Hyouka or any of the Monogatari (Bakemonogatari, Nekomonogatari, etc) series?

@Krazer i also watched it either both seasons

@NaingLinAung Boku wa Tomodachi ga Sukunai or Toradora?
@NaingLinAung what genres do you like?

@Krazer except shoujo , i like most of genre

@NaingLinAung that's a bit hard to narrow down
@NaingLinAung what are your top 3 favorites?

12:14 AM
I recommend Uchouten Kazoku because everyone here is watching it.

@Krazer Hyouka , Oregairu , TWGOK
@LoganM thz i haven't tried it yet

@NaingLinAung haw about Girls und Panzer?

@Krazer not yet but i will add it to list

@NaingLinAung Wolf Children? (it's a movie)

If you liked TWGOK, maybe try Date A Live.

12:20 AM
@NaingLinAung try Aria, too if you haven't already

@LoganM I also watched Date A Live either . btw should i watch LN or wait for season 2 ???
@Krazer Aria mean hidan no aria ???

@NaingLinAung ARIA The Origination

@Krazer never heard before . but i'll try also

@NaingLinAung Novel translations aren't much further than the end of the anime. Volume 5 is the only complete one beyond where the anime ended.
Unless you're going to read in Japanese, probably better just to wait for the anime.

@LoganM so 5 volumes as anime . seem like they skip a lot

Q: Is is possible that shooting range is the whole court ???

Naing Lin AungIn Kuroko no Basket 's Episode 12 , Midorima said that his shooting range was entire court . Does it can happened in real ??

@NaingLinAung Anime goes through volume 4, but they do skip quite a bit.

btw Does Garden of Word also nice one ??

@NaingLinAung For Aria, you should watch in the order Aria The Animation -> Aria The Natural -> Aria the Origination. If you watch out of order it won't be as good.
@NaingLinAung The movie is pretty good if that's what you're asking about

@LoganM ok i'll keep in mind

@NaingLinAung your kuro no basket question is a bit off topic, it more scoped to sports and basketball than anime and manga

12:27 AM
@Krazer I thought so too, but I'm waiting for replies on this meta question before I do anything.

Q: Is it ever acceptable to ask about whether an anime event is realistic or plausible?

Logan MWe've recently had a question asking whether a certain technological explanation in a manga is valid. This currently has 2 close votes (one mine, though I was somewhat on the fence). The reason left on the post is the following: This question appears to be off-topic because it is about comput...

@LoganM no idea . but i saw similar posts related to it . that why i ask .

@NaingLinAung FYI it's not realistic at all. The best long-distance shooters in professional basketball have well below a 50% accuracy at half-court.

@LoganM actually whoever answered it . that fine to me . I never been played basket and just curious

And that's assuming no one is guarding them also.

@LoganM so almost impossible for real match

12:32 AM
I think it's just mostly words of confidence rather than a statement of what he's doing to do

@Krazer yep i think so too

Long distance shots like those are almost always because time is running out and the team needs just a few more points. Even for shots at the 3-point line most top players in real matches only make 50% of them.
As for the question, I don't intend to answer it. I don't think it's on-topic here.

@LoganM yeah sure . as long as i knew it , fine

Q: What is the difference between anime and manga?

DVKI saw this discussed in the context of tags on meta, and surprisingly, there doesn't seem to be any authoritative-looking answer when I Googled aside from some forum threads which I don't know if I should trust.

1:49 AM
@LoganM Beat me on that one. Nice answer.

@Eric That one was a bit rushed. I saw 2 answers come up while I was writing it so I quickly finished mine and submitted, but I wanted to add a bit more.

@LoganM I had just started writing. I was busy working on the Meta A&M.SE post.

Yeah I saw that post. Will read shortly.
I'm a bit confused though as to how that question is on topic on Scifi. But w/e

Me too. I didn't address that SFF.SE example specifically. I can, if you think it's necessary to the answer.
Oh, you mean the anime vs manga one? Good point.
It is a far better fit here.

@Eric yeah that's what I meant
I'm not convinced that is a question we need or want. Anyone coming to Anime SE and not knowing that probably is in the wrong place. But if they ask us if we want it I'm not opposed to taking it. If not, meh, now I have a bit of Scifi rep.

2:05 AM
@LoganM I'm okay with it for two reasons: One, it's on-topic. And two, it does provide me with a nice location to slam that information in someone's face if they ever doubt me on it.

@Eric If they decide to keep it, we can always dupe it here if needed after the migration period is over. I think people here can give a better answer than mine. My answer was literally just the absolute basics.

@LoganM What else might you add in a "complete" answer?

@Eric More pictures, other media, notes about relative popularity, etc.

Ah, gotcha.

For the things I did cover, my answer is basically as good as it can be. But it didn't cover everything that someone who is interested in anime/manga should know about the two.

Q: Trying to identify two old animated films

brannerchineseI'd appreciate any help identifying either of these two animated films from days long past. @JNat Hey hey hey.

this should be off-topic, right?

Q: Trying to identify old Soviet-bloc film involving shoe-print in the back of the head

brannerchineseI'd appreciate any help identifying this old animated film. The main trope is that people have a shoe-print in the backs of their heads. The young wear a training mold on their heads to form the shoe-print, which they need in order to "fit" properly into society. The tired breadwinner of the ho...

3:52 PM
@JNat only the first part
the second part is fine

@Krazer Because 6 is the number of falling short of perfection, and 666 is the number of the devil. So, "6,666" is a sinner who falls short of perfection. D:

@Krazer You mean from the question asking for two id-requests. This is a new one, he's split them up
That question corresponds the that first part you said

@Eric The number represents the essential number of a man. The number 6 falls one short of God's perfect number, 7, and thus points to human imperfection.
@JNat ah yes that needs migration to TV and movies

@Krazer Ok, should we ask them if they want it? Or simply migrate it?

@JNat I'll ask them first

3:56 PM
@Krazer You say that like being imperfect is good! xD

@Eric 日本語はどうですか。

Q: Trying to identify Japanese film involving whale-hunt

brannerchineseI'd appreciate any help identifying this animated film. The main portrayal is of an island society that hunts huge whale-like creatures, using boats and harpoons. When a member of this society dies, he tumbles down an immensely deep hole, where he undergoes reincarnation into one of the whales....

@JNat O_= Goes to get out the hiragana table
I haven't been studying lately.

@Eric I hadn't studied for some time either
But I picked it up again last week

Ah, nice.

4:06 PM

@Krazer lolwut

@Krazer It's almost at 666k views.

@Eric You just don't know hiragana, or all the kana?

@JNat I know hiragana the best. I know about 35/46. Katakana I know about 3. lol
And kanji, I know 1.

@Eric which one?

4:10 PM
@JNat 木
Oh, two. I also know the one for dragon, but I don't know how to type it.

Surely you know some more. At least you can recognize some more, no?
日本
those two?

@JNat Yes, Japan.
And I recognized the one you used for "Japanese".

@Eric what about individually?

But I couldn't write them on demand, nor do I know what they mean by themselves.

@Eric 日 means sun or day. 本 means book or origin. 日本 means "sun-origin", so Land of the Rising Sun
There are many names of Japan in the English, Japanese, and other languages. The word "Japan" (or "Japon") is an exonym, and is used (in one form or another) by a large number of languages. The Japanese names for Japan are Nippon (にっぽん ) and Nihon (にほん ). They are both written in Japanese using the kanji 日本. The Japanese name Nippon is used for most official purposes, including on Japanese money, postage stamps, and for many international sporting events. Nihon is a more casual term and the most frequently used in contemporary speech. History Both Nippon and Nihon literally mean "the...

Oh, cool. Learn something new every day!~ :D

@JNat that's quite a claim, like the Chinese's 中国

@Krazer Country in the middle?

@JNat middle country/kindgom

Well, It's all a matter of perspective... lol

South Korea is 韓国、"kankoku". The character 'kan' means 'Korea in both Japanese and Chinese, and it also means 'fence'. Korea was long an isolated Kingdom, 'fenced-off' as it were from the world, and a common name for Korea was "Hermit Kingdom". Further, if you break the character 韓 down into its constituent elements, the elements on the left half means 'sunrise'. Korea today likes to call itself the "Land of the Morning Calm"
Do you know why the US is called 米国, "beikoku", or 'rice country?'

4:23 PM
@Krazer no idea

@JNat think of the connotation of rice in the Japanese mindset

@Krazer Dry and good for consumption?~ xD

@Eric "abundant resources"

Hmm, interesting

I spent the morning trying to answer the anime vs manga question only to find a lot of academic quality papers on anime/manga.... now I have too much information to write about

4:41 PM
@Krazer Essays are fun.

essays are evil

@Hiroto I agree

@Hiroto Depends what they're about.

4:57 PM
@Mysticial Are you here?

Can you tell me again that device you used for hooking up 2 internal harddrives externally?

They're just dual-slot enclosures.

Any specific one you've had success with?
Or are they mostly all the same?

Are your drives bigger than 2TB?

5:00 PM
No, I'll probably get either 2TB+1TB or 2TBx2

Then your options are much bigger.
Pretty any of them are find. Just make sure you read the user feedback to see if anyone complained about USB3 problems.

Okay, thanks

USB3 and lack of >2TB support are the biggest problems of enclosures. Every single enclosure I've ever tried has had problems with at least one of those.

Weird...

@Mysticial doesn't Icy Dock have a 7TB USB3 one?

5:05 PM
@Krazer I'm looking for enclosures, not all-in-ones.
All-in-ones are typically better since they can QC the final product.
Enclosures they can't.
USB3 problems they don't even admit even if there is a problem. Otherwise they can't sell it.
>2TB support... assume it can't handle it if it doesn't advertise it.
And on one of my enclosures, the >2TB support wasn't complete either - even though it advertised it.

@JNat Are we sure he's talking about a live-action movie?

@Eric No, he's talking about a Russian/Polish animation

5:36 PM
@Eric The other one (I think you were referring to that) I think is an animation film (although it is not very clear), because in the end he says he found it "on a VHS collection from some animation festival"

@JNat No, I was referring to the Soviet-bloc one. But I thought it was about Russia/Poland, not made in it.
My bad, really.

@JonLin Are you sure? Episode 5 turned out to be available on Crunchyroll in the middle of the week.

Oh, yeah...

6:09 PM
hmm, that's weird
it usually airs on Sunday
and usually 1 week for non-premium users to see it
maybe it's not always 1 week

Yeah, it's available to premium users today.

Last week I got an e-mail by CR saying episode 5 was available on Tuesday

ep 6 is good

Should we adjust to just episode 5, then?

@Eric let's wait until Tuesday, maybe
No, wait
@Eric This is written on CR?

6:14 PM
@JNat Alright. I just don't suspect they'll change their free user deadline by then.
Yes.
Right-hand side.

Ah, then yeah, we should change it

And I missed the event yet again :(
I am a shame to the profession.

@MadaraUchiha Yup.

Has anyone seen today's episode of Shingeki no Kyojin?

@MadaraUchiha not yet
I am currently 3 eps behind

@JNat It's *freaking amazing* go watch it
FFS What the hell are you doing that gets you behind all those anime?!
Don't tell me you did this "eating" again!

@MadaraUchiha Working :P
@MadaraUchiha No, actually eating is about the only time I get to watch some anime nowadays :P

@MadaraUchiha Not yet, I will be watching it today.

@Eric Yes, you will.

6:23 PM
@MadaraUchiha Hush. I always watch it with a friend.

@Eric Like I said, it's *freaking amazing*, watch it soon.

Q: Gerita, is it canon?

DaeOK, SO. I've been kinda hung up on the whole "GerIta"/"ItaGer" thing. Since I've only watched Hetalia in bits and pieces and have been bombarded with numerous insane fangirls, I want to know, is GerIta canon?

10:37 PM
@Eric hello
@Slackamoto this feels like a bad question
I want to tap it for "unclear what you're asking"
what do y'all reckon?

wat

@Krazer I kinda agree. It's going to be subjective as well, if it's not "canon" there will be people who say it is anyway.

Q: Where does the term "waifu" come from?

Memor-XI was stalking a forum looking for images to nab to use as wallpapers, and there was a post where posters were claiming characters as their "waifu". Seeing how it is spelled, I would assume that what they mean is "wife"; however, it seems weird to use the term "waifu" rather than the normal Japa...

11:39 PM
Bah are fandom pairing on topic?

@Krazer No, but this question is difficult, as it's asking whether it's canon. It's not really about the fact that it's a fandom pairing, more about whether or not it's considered one.

@Krazer Oh cool thanks
@Slackamoto Okay who changed Sakamoto's name? That's not funny.
