The problem I have with all point-based rep systems is that a user might accumulate a lot of rep by answering 'easy' questions. And so to a new user it might give the (sometimes false) impression that they know what they are on about
Which is why I think a smart way of looking up the credibility of a user is to look at their answer and question history
a more qualitative way of doing it, but I find it more reliable than just a raw point-based-system

@user21820 That's a great idea! I've wanted that option for so long... there's been so much confusion over the past 6+ years about whether it's appropriate to delete an incorrect answer.

I'm just worried about answers which are more about intuition being marked as incorrect, if that feature is implemented. But I think it's a good idea in general, for quality control.
Maybe there should be a number of sub-votes to make a mark-as-incorrect vote visible?

You want to both continue discussing that in the Math Meta Chat?

I'll pop round in a bit.

@shredalert All that's necessary is to put a red flag/cross next to the score such that on mouseover it says "A tag-expert has downvoted this answer."

Ah, I see

I'm not sure whether it's more useful to have an explicit "mark-as-incorrect" or not, so that the tooltip would say "A tag-expert has marked this answer as incorrect.".
Shall I move this discussion over there?

please

Tada.
@shredalert I know a few such users, one of whom now has 28688 rep.

@user21820 Further hint?

@amWhy He likes platonic solids.
@amWhy At least, he tends to stick to questions he actually thinks he knows how to answer, so it's nowhere as bad as what the slightest cranks do. =)
