@lkraav I'm just wrestling with core.trac.wordpress.org/ticket/14050 currently trying your hotfix plugin core.trac.wordpress.org/attachment/ticket/14050/plugin.php
Do you use this in production?

everywhere
it's about the safest incremental improvement ever made
for any uber-complicated piece of code
most of the time, shit works better. and if it doesnt, it works excatly as shit as it did before

Okay, cool. I'll take your word on that. ;)
I always start crying when I hit WP code built on top of regex...

that regex is the sickest thing i've ever seen
both in awesomeness and idiocy
i still dont know whether to bow with respect, or curse it all to deepest hell
i guess the main thing is that i dont have a particularly good idea of what "better" is

a DOM Parser

right
i think the speed difference with today's server power is negligible
+ caching technologies
i would gladly opt in to something better with an experimental filter

But thanks anyway for your work, I just put it in and it seems as I can finally stop crying.now.

it still isn't perfect though

text

[/shortcode]

is the safest thing i've found
note the newlines
visual editor kills the bottom newline i think (or was it top?). either way, fortunately everything still works.
but stuff like

[shortcode]
[/shortcode]
[shortcode]

will mess up

<h2>Headline</h2>
[/shortcode]
That was my issue.
Results in <div></p><h2>Headline</h2></div>

yep exactly
annoying as all f

But works now. So once again, thanks a lot for your work!

share or tweet the love
i could some backlinks

Will do so!

10 hours later…

Has $ID always been a global variable in The Loop or is there something wrong with my theme?...
Or maybe it's not a "global" variable, I just thought the only way to access the Post ID was $post->ID or on the The Loop functions.

Templates do not operate in a global scope.
Or, they do, but the loop variables are coming from \WP_Query::setup_postdata()
global $id, $authordata, $currentday, $currentmonth, $page, $pages, $multipage, $more, $numpages;

Gotcha, I looked at codex.wordpress.org/Global_Variables#Inside_the_Loop_variables but didn't see it so I was confused why my test was being thrown off.
Thanks :D !
