@userabuser Fought the entire day yesterday with WooCommerce. I should go to that conference and give all those developers a proper spanking.

@toscho I would spend the thousands just to fly there and support you.
oh hey guess what!!!! we finally f**king left WPEngine!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Congratulations! :D

so happy... php 5.5.* minimum all the way
thank you thank you

Boy, is this sad

the question you lkinked?

3:34 AM
The fact that we are still discussing 5.3
and woo

lol, it EOL'd the other day
I know, such a low point
5.3 and woo... while the rest of the world does real shit here we are haha
The WP community has gone woo nuts hasn't it? I mean now they have their own conf....
next.. NinjaConf

NextCamp

hahaha I can imagine that one would be fun, bunch of ninja running around throwing if-elseif-else ninja stars
Every evening after I finish working with WordPress I go cleanse myself by working in a real framework or reading the raw C that compiles to PHP so I don't feel like such an idiot for the day.

what the hell
another crew that should be banned from using raw SQL

3:43 AM
took me a while to figure out why the terms are gone when a user tries to copy a site
it didn’t help that the user’s site was live already and on WordPress 3.5.2
Oh god, I hate support.

that's a major problem... we had issues with our schema that gave us a lot of grief in MS until we spent to the time to get it right but a Woo comm is a mass used product, man that should not be so messed up like that.
ouch man
live site support hell
good luck!

I haven’t written a single line on the current MLP branch since Thursday. Too much support.

problems everywhere?
SELECT DISTINCT... <- says it all...

yeah, without DISTINCT I get too many duplicates. :)

haha...
so basically you are in support mode for current MLP release with people trying to use it on woo type sites or similar?

3:48 AM
People have problems setting multisite up (I should write a plugin for that), and the remaining support issues are very advanced, because the basic stuff just works.
Custom post types in themes – try to explain a non-coder how to extract this shit into a network plugin.

If its a general plugin in setting up MS I'd help you with that... I work with that b**ch daily.
haha! yeah good luck

Last Friday was dedicated to Advanced Custom Fields. :/
Boy, is this is fucked up. Unbelievable

why are you being tortured?

The guy I work with was on holiday
and the rest of our support team doesn’t know enough about MLP

you da man then!
the sun can't shine all the time :)

scraper?

almost legal. the profiles links go to the wrong site

Q: Is It Open Season On WooCommerce Questions Yet?

Ray MitchellI've been spending more time in the review queues lately, and ran into a string of WooCommerce questions. While this has been discussed in Meta previously (Woocommerce questions flooding WPSE, among others). If these questions were asked on more obscure plugins, they would be closed. Should we be...

Q: Plugin/Theme template to make developing easier

sakibmoonI think everyone use skeleton to start developing a plugin/theme. It reduces the development time drastically. I will love to see some skeleton from experienced wordpress theme/plugin developer. I think it will help a lot to understand how they write code and learn some best practices. P.S I am...

It was closed as I feared. But can I see some of yours template? It's a valid question here, isn't it?

@sakibmoon I use grunt template to kickstart plug-ins/themes. I have a (non-public) personal variant of github.com/10up/grunt-wp-plugin (and the theme version github.com/10up/grunt-wp-theme). They are fairly basic though.

3:13 PM
@StephenHarris Thanks. It incorporate the minimal features and a good starting point.

3:33 PM
@StephenHarris without those constants, I hope?

@toscho The url/directory ones?

yes

no, I use those...

I don’t know you anymore

I sometimes define them later so so that a theme/plugin can over-ride them.
@toscho :), so why is a constant so bad there, and what should I use instead?

A: Bestway To Define Theme and Plugin path and url

toschoDo not use constants for that. Do not use global constants at all. There are two types of constants: class/interface constants and global constants. Constants in classes or interfaces are fine and sometimes useful. An overly simplistic example: interface Requirements { const MIN_PHP_VERSI...

3:53 PM
@toscho The problem with plugin_dir_url() is that it returns different values depending on the file you're in (if you pass __FILE__). So it's simpler to define a constant I can use throughout. I take your point on testing, but testing different locations of images is not something that has cropped up, and script/styles can be filtered at runtime.

4:07 PM
class Plugin_Locations {

		private $plugin_path = '';

		private $plugin_url = '';

		public function __construct( $file ) {

			$this->plugin_path = plugin_dir_path( $file );
			$this->plugin_url  = plugin_dir_url( $file );
		}

		public function path() {
			return $this->plugin_path;
		}

		public function url() {
			return $this->plugin_url;
		}
	}
How hard is that?
You can add an interface for that, set your dependencies against it and mock it in your tests

Hey, looking to hire a really strong theme dev. Must have great front end and RWD (Bootstrap preferred) experience. Any recommendations?
