@kaiser I WIN!
besides when I say lol, I'm really saying "lots of lollies".

4 hours later…
10:04 AM
I've moved some menu items as sub menus but for some reason the nested lists aren't appearing, any ideas?

10:31 AM
@kaiser thanks I as well pondered if I should post it here or at stackoverflow

n/p

10:48 AM
@kaiser Did you see that there should be 43(!) people coming to WPVienna today? I hate to admit that, but it looks like SEO is the thing that brings in the crowd...

Well, I'm not in Vienna today so you'll have to tell me what happened. We already had crowds like that but the end result always was the same.

According to meetup.com except for the anniversary party with free beer there was nothing close. But curious to see how this will go. I'll let you know.

11:11 AM
thanks mate

11:24 AM
@toscho have you tried MLP with the new ACF?
we've been running into some issues

@TomJNowell In know. I told them, and I offered my help.
We will stop all those broken scripts with the next update
@TomJNowell Please try this Gist.

interesting, will pass along

12:21 PM
@tos
Gah

1:00 PM
Continuing on the talk about VMs/Vagrant last week - anyone here tried docker.com ?

@SimonWheatley I prefer a general solution. Almost all other plugins are broken too. :/

1:17 PM
Plugin compatibility will be so much fun when I release the kraken aka term translations.

The team behind @WordPress at @automattic is joining us as a Chief Sponsor of php[world] in Washington, DC this fall: http://ow.ly/zGHnd
Some changes in the air, or WP people just sponsor things to not being teased in php community?

latter
also note the whole Automattic = WordPress bullshit

1:34 PM
:)

@G.M. automattic also has tools used by the greater php community (not just php actually) like akismet, gravitar, etc.

1:50 PM
someone is using Akismet outside of WP?.. willingly?

I was not aware that it can be technically done...

it's a service, it doesn't care where input comes from
I know it can be done, but I won't use it even in WP :)

there is/was a drupal extension which uses akismet

2:47 PM
its just an api, like polldaddy (another automattic thing) , and people have built wrappers for it (laravel, ruby, .net, whatever).
I have not had that many issues with akismet, seem to work fine , but I rarely make anything that is an actual blog so my experience is limited.

it's not that bad recently but back when I started it was disaster. imagine not being comment anywhere on the freaking internet for weeks because Akismet glitched and decided you are "bad"

3:16 PM
has anyone used appthemes framework before?

3 hours later…
6:06 PM
@pietergoosen Flags are not a replacement for close votes.

6:25 PM
@toscho I understand that. The problem is that we get 24 close votes per day, that is it. The cleanup program is heavy on these votes, so they don't last. What else should we do in a case like this

@PieterGoosen Let the community moderate itself.
Closing a question doesn’t require a moderator, and flags should be used for such cases only.

@toscho No problem. Enjoy the rest of your evening. Thanks for the info :-)

I will spend this evening writing dev docs for MLP. :)

7:13 PM
Hello!

booked for WCEU, in from Wednesday, staying at Hilton

When running a wp_query using the wp_ajax hook, do you normally have to call global $post at the top?

also got 1 year visa for Bulgaria if anything else interesting is happening there later :)

7:28 PM
@Rarst Like peace?

?

I mean, when the war hits Kiev, you might want to leave.

well, I can't spend year there, I can just visit during year
also separatist are getting blown up to kingdom come so far.

7:43 PM
the ukraine is in africa right?

nope

im kidding, my impersonation of an american

7:54 PM
@Wyck Be careful, Asians are very touchy about geography.

lol

anu
Gives an offline version of any stack site
Really quite nice, especially for plane flights and other off-net situations

read stack on the beach!
I'd rather get high and go fucking swimming though

anu
Hah - mainly because I'm flying to MTL this weekend, and wanted something for the flight

8:10 PM
ah the weather is weird now, super cold, it's lame all week

anu
yeah, saw that - hopefully next week will be better

you going to wordcamp mtl?

anu
have a ticket, but have to fly back on 16th, so no

@Wyck it's worth noting that we have to learn just under 10 million square km just to comprehend our own country's geography - wherein the size of a state is often comparable to a Euro/Middle-Eastern country - and an additional 11.5 million square km to have some notion of just the neighboring nations.
I suspect asking a US citizen where Uzbekistan is would be equivalent to asking you where the state of Kentucky is situated. Luckily for you nothing interesting ever happens in Kentucky, and it's unlikely that your knowledge of US geography should be conversationally relevant ;)

@boscho I concur, I have been to Kentucky

8:20 PM
Kentucky is a neighbor state of Oz. Every child knows that.

@Wyck damn. I choose poorly. What possible reason could have taken you to Kentucky of all places? O.o
@toscho now accessible via the Yellow Brick Highway

I'm kidding though, Kentucky has like a little know but relevant tech/start-up sector in cincinnati

Dangerous, flying cabins and that

@boscho for example brandery.org (not why I was there but a freind was there last week)
I was there for the crack cocaine

heh - fair on all accounts. I had no idea regarding Kentucky's tech/crack sectors.

3 hours later…
11:04 PM
I made the mistake of watching that github repo tadlock started on standardising content types
my phone and computer havent shutup for hours ='/

@TomJNowell And you know people love to discuss imaginary new rules.
