@kaiser why? are these acting as facades?

I have up to 25 audio players in a page and it slows down the browser..

lazy load them

the problem causes by media element player..
I will write a question later today..

@Rarst Yeah, not sure there's a need for yet another templating language

I don't mind too much (competition is good, variety is good), but also wandering why someone decides to roll own rather than take existing

anu
Sure, it's not a dealbreaker, but there should be a good reason for going away from Twig (especially as it's Symfony based). Haven't looked at it in detail, so maybe there's some cool stuff in it

home page mentions mustache I think, so maybe it's swappable

Don't see many differences from twig here: github.com/pagekit/razr

which makes it even more strange :)

what is the ticket number for the new full height tinymce?

007

@ungestaltbar thanks, I searched for 'height" and found nothing.

I've looked this up yesterday to see if / how it could work for custom editor instances...but looks like its limited to the main editor

no

12:17 PM
no what? it isn't?

@ungestaltbar It makes all TinyMCE instances very long.
plus, it breaks the translation workflow

you can set a custom height on the instances which may solve problem #1

12:32 PM
the main instance has no height handle anymore

add_filter('tiny_mce_before_init', function($settings){
       $settings['resize'] = true;
        return $settings;
    });

12:57 PM
ah allright,
a) you can add this "feature" to custom instances but you have to include the plugin "wpautoresize" yourself in the init settings
b) if the plugin is loaded, you can enable/disable the feature with the tinymce setting "wp_autoresize_on" set to true/false
c) works for the default editor as well, of course
if you remove autoresize on the fly with
tinymce.get('content').execCommand('wpAutoResizeOff');
things bcome funny :) (buggy)
one thing to add: if autoresize is on, you must use the "autoresize_min_height" setting to predefine the height

"Lift has acquired ChurchThemes and intend to enter the hosted church website market"

what's wrong with that?..

@ungestaltbar please make that a Q/A on the main site

Q: What is the name of the Q&A plugin of this site?

user56892I am building a Q&A WP blog and I want to know the name of the plugin this site is using. I found it very powerful and is what I wanted. Thanks

2:56 PM
@Rarst there is not neccessarily something wrong with sth I observe and find 'amusing' ..and from my countries perspective a "hosted church webiste market" is at least special

church stuff is very big business in US as far as I know

Got a strange problem: I have phpmd on the CLI executed from a PHP script #!/usr/bin/env php and use it as ./vendor/bin/phpmd $file text config.xml. That one works with out a problem on the CLI, but when I use it with exec(), I get . is no command. Any idea?

wolfram says 60K churches there

@kaiser try source instead of .

source?

3:00 PM
thats what . means

I know - I wrote that :)
But what do you mean by "try source"?

instead of the (dot) .
source /vendor...

you mean the full path?

if exec doesn't accept the (dot) it may accept source (it's a command) instead

anu
i think the . in this context is current directory
not a source alias

3:04 PM
yes it's source/root

what?

anu
. file.sh == source file.sh
./file.sh = run current directory/file.sh

?

anu
yeah, but that's different from sourcing a file, i think - you ./ an executable, and you'd source another script

3:07 PM
tried source but it doesn't work
not even recognised

ok
source runs the file/command in the current environment/shell

Hm. It works if I chdir() to ./vendor/bin/phpmd and then reference everything with a leading ../../ and then switch back to the root afterwards. That sucks.

not sure but you could try something like: . /vendor/bin/phpmd; phpmd $file ...
first load phpmd to the environment and then execute your command

hm. that sounds like a plan - will try
doesn't work

any output?
something in the php error logs

3:23 PM
directly in the CLI: . is not a command

ok..what CLI is it?

MySysGit/GNU Bash
Ha!

not sure how complte that is :) but there may be something similar

$dir = getcwd();
exec( "{$dir}/vendor/bin/phpmd text {$dir}/path/to/config.xml", $out, $result );
That works without chdir() and should accommodate most envs

anybody had issues with google maps created via javascript inside of hidden divs being improperly set up when the div is then shown?

sounds familiar

I've a map inside a widget form
in a div with predefined width and height
sometimes when it opens the UI and the map area doesn't fill the map container
saving the widget fixes the issue when the maps recreated

i think you need to trigger some kind of repaint event when the container opens

You need to show it for at least a single ms after DOM is ready, then hide it via class or whatever. Else Google JS doesn't set up the map properly.

Hi. I need to increase the max file size for uploads, but PHP is ignoring php.ini files in the wordpress folder. How can I troubleshoot?

3:55 PM
@ThatBrazilianGuy By asking on the main site
Aside from that it's not PHP ignoring php.ini, it's maybe just server set up to do so.

Well, the main site is for WP development and this is not much of a development question... More like a configuration issue

> server configuration for WordPress
or ask on Server Fault

(well, if it is configured to ignore a file and it is actively doing so, then the file is being ignored IMHO, but let's not get semantical over this)

ok, let's quickly get over the basics...
Open your CLI and hit php --ini
There's a point where you can read:
> Scan for additional .ini files in:
So as long as your wordpress folder isn't an additional .ini location...
2
A: PHP CLI does not use additional .ini files

JackYou have to recompile PHP to enable that, for example: ./configure ... --with-config-file-scan-dir=/etc/php.d

Configuration File (php.ini) Path: /etc
Loaded Configuration File: /etc/php.ini
Scan for additional .ini files in: /etc/php.d
Additional .ini files parsed: /etc/php.d/curl.ini,
/etc/php.d/dom.ini,
/etc/php.d/fileinfo.ini,
/etc/php.d/json.ini,
/etc/php.d/mbstring.ini,
/etc/php.d/mysql.ini,
/etc/php.d/mysqli.ini,
/etc/php.d/pdo.ini,
/etc/php.d/pdo_mysql.ini,
/etc/php.d/pdo_sqlite.ini,
/etc/php.d/phar.ini,
/etc/php.d/posix.ini,
/etc/php.d/sqlite3.ini,
/etc/php.d/sysvmsg.ini,
/etc/php.d/sysvsem.ini,

4:00 PM
What does that tell you?

; PHP attempts to find and load this configuration from a number of locations.
; The following is a summary of its search order:
; 1. SAPI module specific location.
; 2. The PHPRC environment variable. (As of PHP 5.2.0)
; 3. A number of predefined registry keys on Windows (As of PHP 5.2.0)
; 4. Current working directory (except CLI)
; 5. The web server's directory (for SAPI modules), or directory of PHP
; (otherwise in Windows)
; 6. The directory from the --with-config-file-path compile time option, or the

And: Have you tried if you can ini_set() something that has a different value from the php.ini?

(from the first lines of `/etc/php.ini)
I was expecting the behaviour listed in (4)
Yeah, I tried everthing described in this post: wpbeginner.com/wp-tutorials/…
Except for .htacess, as it is nginx and there's no htaccess file

phone

I'll ask a question on the main site.

4:14 PM
back
@ThatBrazilianGuy yeah, do that
@ThatBrazilianGuy but search on Server Fault before doing so

Yeah. There's already a solutin here in this site but my problem is
> I have also seen users create a php.ini file with just these values and place it in the file where WordPress is installed. If your PHP instance allows for "inherited configurations" it will allow these local settings to override the global.
... I can't do this because of some configuration
So ServerFault here we go (to be mocked by)

screw configuration, I second ini_set()

@Rarst Won't work for me. =/

why not?

beats me

4:19 PM
well, it might be just restricted hard by hosting or whatever then

@ThatBrazilianGuy I had an issue with my PHP config once. My /tmp/ directory was pretty much full.
I made changes to the PHP config but the server wasn't recognizing my changes.
your tmp directory is cleared on bootup. Simple graceful restart fixed it for me.

> Filesystem Size Used Avail Use% Mounted on
/dev/mapper/VolGroup-lv_root
6,5G 2,9G 3,3G 47% /
tmpfs 499M 0 499M 0% /dev/shm
/dev/sda1 485M 54M 407M 12% /boot
Doesn't seem to be my case

Do you have an administration panel of any kind?

sudo service nginx restart

Oh yeah, that's a good point. You need to restart your web server after making PHP config changes.

4:22 PM
and

I don't use nginx So I might not be much help there. I find Apache much easier to use.

also restart php
@MichaelEcklund apache, nginx, lighttp ... for us as end users the difference mostly is "where to put config stuff"

Everything is different. I had to help a friend out using nginx I felt so overwhelmed... I couldn't even help him. It's nothing like Apache imho.
but ... @ThatBrazilianGuy Make sure you check your PHP config for disable_functions ... Make sure ini_set isn't disabled.
Also, make sure you're editing the correct PHP config. I know my server has like 4 or 5 different PHP configs.

I'm writing a question on SF now

Probably best to get advice from server geeks. :P
So lame... Is HTML validation necessary for ranking? Google gives zero positive SEO points to websites which are actually W3C Valid.
If you take the time to build a website "by the rules" -- so to speak. You should get a boost over those who build cheap crappy sites which break all the rules.
Even if it's just a minor boost. Some credit should still be awarded to those who take the time to do it right.

4:50 PM
Ok, @MichaelEcklund I need to tell you something about date and time: It changes things - video is from 2011 ;)

Q: Enforce loading of php.ini files from current folder

That Brazilian GuyMy goal is to increase the maximum file size for uploads in WordPress. I have followed the steps on this SE answer and this tutorial (except the .htaccess part), to no avail. Looks like it is ignoring php.ini files from the current folder. On an unrelated WP install I run on a shared host I rent...
