Rarst / Fragment Cache / issues / #1 - Release in WP Repository — Bitbucket https://bitbucket.org/Rarst/fragment-cache/issue/1/release-in-wp-repository WONTFIX
ah, this was great morning start :)

10:33 AM
when does shortcodes became available ( after which hook )?
..searching on main site

10:53 AM
as soon as registered probably since they are stuffed into the global

When the_content is displayed, the shortcode API will parse any registered shortcodes
Does anyone know of a front-end file explorer plugin (file tree view) that displays files, folders, subfolders of a directory that i can specify in the backend? No file meta info or db entries required, just plain file browsing.

11:21 AM
jetpack layout thrashing

@joko13 Nope... never looked.

I can't even...
Can you give me some indications on how to define that function in the functions.php ? Thank you! — Alecs 2 mins ago

2:50 PM
anyone in here an old Worms fan? (game series by Team17)

@GhostToast use to play it, the original (a couple of other versions). Haven't played it in years though

Worms Armageddon is still alive and kicking. Just picked it up on Steam recently. Also bought a 4-pack of Worms Clan Wars
Gave 2 to some buds I used to play with. Willing to part with the final one to a good home (i.e. someone who will put it to use)

played some, but was never really hardcore into it

Mac or a PC, what should I get?

please provide more information
what do you want this computer to do?

webdev only, never really used Mac much
work computer, not at home

mac is really nice for work. if you're not going to dual-purpose into gaming, you'll be really happy with mac
although is more expensive

seems like it would be better (ruby, package manager, etc)

i had never used a mac (hardly) before working at my current gig, 2 years ago. and now i'm pretty much sold on them for work

5:49 PM
I've always worked at windows shops and at home I have windows, but now I have the option to switch

what kind of team situation do you have?

graphics designers all use macs

it is nice for taking very quick screenshots (keyboard cmd) and pasting via ichat
we all use ichat/messenger here all day. very good for explaning what we mean without having to get up

do you use mamp or a VM?

we use mamp on a local server
xserve

5:53 PM
any other useful apps, most of what I use works on mac (sublime, phpstorm, photoshop)

basic mail program that comes with, prob will need Office suite (although openoffice can suffice)
TextWrangler is best notepad++ clone i've come across
is free
any kind of time tracking software you use?
might have an app for mac
we use collab + refresh timer

I think libreoffice works on Mac, what do you use for sftp/ssh, default terminal?

i use fetch for simple file gets. i use terminal for ssh
Fetch is prob free
guess it is trialware or something. we bought licenses here
i don't think Adobe Bridge is available on mac. if you were using that

no just plain photoshop and also vector magic which has a mac version I see

if someone is buying all this for you, might not hurt to also ask for full creative suite from adobe :)
on windows i became accustomed to using eye-dropper and dragging it out of photoshop and onto web. i can't seem to accomplish this under mac, so i ended up buying an eye-dropper app from Frank DeLoupe
called Color Picker, I think.
was like $1

6:02 PM
ya I have a new gig that I can't pass down, so they are buying it for me, i'm going back to the 9-5 world.

There is an app called Deeper that gives you more control over the Dock apperance. Similarly, CandyBar can let you change all icons/system icons. it's free now. from same devs as Coda
i think Deeper is free
that's it i guess
congrats btw

thanks
I care more about my chair then my OS

stuff very very rarely crashes on my mac

my preference is actually something like crunchbang but damn adobe

why is it the dev's job to disassemble the PSD? seems the designers could at least be trained enough to handle that
we have 3.5 designers
2 developers
designers always wandering around with too little to do

6:19 PM
I do some design work though, and this place the designers are more traditional graphic artists so I'm certain i'll have to jump in a lot.
vector magic is a life saver, I use that a lot

never tried it. i use illustrator though
looks cool

it saves hours and hours of time, especially for logo work, so many companies have raster logos and forget where the originals are

@Wyck yea i hate that crap. fortunately, with 3.5 designers on hand, i usually throw that stuff back to one of them.

lol Youtube founders comment, youtube.com/user/jawed

7:21 PM
@Wyck the forced g+ thing is so annoying. That comment is gold, considering the source. I think it's only a matter of time before they force all gmail users to use it. Seems like the natural progression.

@goto10 ya it's bullshit, on my nexus every single time I load YouTube I get asked if I want to use my Google+ account, every damn time

Also thinking they might boot adblock from the play store, which will pretty much kill it, since google just announced that they will be blocking non-play store extensions At least on windows). Pretty sad. Don't be evil though, right?

7:50 PM
@goto10 ...and that's why forks happen
@goto10 or, we just go back to Firefox

@ChipBennett not sure that will change the account behavior of interacting with YouTube?
as it is a google account

@GhostToast I meant the walling-off of extensions

yea. chrome is pretty forky i bet. have never dabbled, but i believe chromium is one such project

@GhostToast I'm using Chromium as we speak

you enjoy it? pros cons?

7:53 PM
@GhostToast seems to work pretty much the same as Chrome/Windows (I'm running Kubuntu)

I need to make a chrome extension or something
goal: turn "Inspect Element" into "Inspect Elephant" because its funny
spent a bit of time trying to find that phrase in a language file. no luck.
i was able to do it in firefox once though

@chip I hear ya. It took me a while to switch to chrome from FF in the first place. The dev tools in chrome were just getting so much better so much faster. I still like the font rendering in FF though. And @GhostToast is right, still won't change the fact that google is forcing us to use their social network at every turn when using other google service.

@goto10 I'm with you. I prefer CDT to FF Firebug.

We’ve spent a good portion of the year trying to build out our teams to handle the increasing load of work here at Stack Exchange. A big part of this has involved bringing on new community managers: with both a larger number of sites *and* greater numbers of users on those sites, we hadn’t exactly been keeping up with the demand for help and guidance across the network. Tim Post signed on in the spring, followed by Jon Ericson, Gabe Koscky and Pops “Kevin” Chang.

Community Management at Stack Exchange is primarily a support role: assist folks in learning how to use the s …

I am confused as to why rewrite rules aren't flushing unless I visit the permalinks page. Hooked on init, update permalink structure option, then using: flush_rewrite_rules(true); immediately after, doesn't flush the rewrite rules.
question I guess

Q: How to debug removal of rewrite rule flushing?

ogniI use Custom Post Types. I try this: functions.php add_action( 'admin_init', 'flush_rewrite_rules' ); Now I’d like to remove this again. I try this: remove_action( 'admin_init', 'flush_rewrite_rules' ); I’m not sure if it works right. How can I test if the rewrite rules really not flu...

@Wyck I am getting 'nothing logged'
Then I visit the permalinks setting page, and it definitely flushes. Not sure what I'm doing wrong. Does it matter if I'm hooked on init rather than admin_init ... I thought init was supposed to be fine.

no it doesn't matter

I'm stumped.

disable your plugins/ revert to default theme

@Wyck I found the issue! Silly silly. @toscho Thanks for this
My code wasn't actually flushing on option save, but on next page load.
Neat little plugin, I like that for debugging.
