@JoErNanO would you please ping me when you come online, I have a non-TSE question.

Meh... guess it's too broad because the question's not about visas travel.stackexchange.com/questions/62463/…

@GayotFow Go ahead.

though to be fair I could have worded it better

If it's a long message, you have my email. :)

I was trying to find which SO was the right one for my question and figured you might help. I ended up using home improvement, but something tells me I could have done better.

11:51 AM
@JoErNanO you still there?

Go

Do you have the link to the question?

Q: Installing a USB enabled electricity socket

Gayot FowI want to replace a standard wall socket with a new USB which looks something like this... The instructions say to turn off the power for the socket. I went to the master house control and took a picture... I assume that I can turn the power off with the big switch on the right that current...

See if it's the right SO channel please

It's the right site IMHO.
Diy could have been good too.
Listen to the guys and be careful.
Or find a friend who knows about these things.
:)

Hi, is it true that Italian intercity Trains usually run on time?
Hi @GayotFow

4:04 PM
@Davinder All trains try to run on time. And the Italian railway has improved over the past twenty odd years.
What's the real question? :)

Hi, as my KLM Flight from FCO->AMS is at 3:30am 31st march. I am looking at train from Bari to Rome Termini (Arrival at 22:30). Is there enough time with this train, (after considering on-time arrival probability) to be at time to check in at FCO Airport? The plan from Roma Termini to FCO Airport is to use a shuttle transfer (EUR 5, timings 21:35 from Roma Termini).

@GayotFow That's a proper retro fuse box there
oh, also @GayotFow I won't be answering that 10-year UK visa ban question
beyond "well, it reads like you are banned to me" I don't really understand it
nor do I know if it effects "immigrant" visa applications

@Davinder bari Rome is a long way. The longer the stretch the more likely the train might pick up delays.
However I think your termini fco shuttle timing is wrong. Did you mean 2235? If so it's tight.
I'd leave a good 30' between train arrival and shuttle departure.
Oh and intercity trains are an anthropological experience, second only to regional trains.
So it might actually be fun to pick that over the more expensive frecciargento.

4:24 PM
Oops @JoErNanO, thanks, the shuttle timing I see is from Autostradale, Roma termini to FCO, starts at 20:30, arrives at FCO @ 21:35 (Too little time, only 10 minutes, at Termini for Train arrival & Shuttle Departure). This train cost EUR 19, & That Silver Arrow costs EUR 59, but I think I will pick that Silver Arros, instead of hoping everything be on time :)

but you saud that your train isn't getting to Termini until 22:30
so any shuttle before then will not be useful to you

Yeah, I have decided to pick Silver Arrow Train, which reaches Termini from Bari @ 17:20, I hope I will enough time to account for any late arrival, & then to FCO
The shuttle timetables are from 94.84.55.20/pdf/nuoviorari/FCO%20W14.pdf, but I have not booked the shuttle yet

hmm, I was going to recomend seat61 for more info (in English) on italian trains
but the page seems to be all about London to various parts in Italy

Alreay checking that site for info, but no info about punctuality. Although it helped me to understand red/silver/white arrow trains..

Huh, you can book a single train birth from Moscow all the way to Pyongyang
there's a thing

4:31 PM
Let me try Bari-FCO Airport on italiarail.com
its offering me one from Bari->Termini->FCO, with connection time at FCO for 15 Mins, direct from Bari->Termini "TRAIN #9358 Frecciargento | Bari Centrale 18:14 — Roma Termini 22:20 | 4h 6m"
Looks like 15 mins will not be enough

4:46 PM
Also, just found about Leanardo Train from Termini to FCO (Its every 30 minutes), most private shuttles don't run from ~11pm to 5am..

Trenitalia.com is the way to go.
Or the app.
And get the trenìt app for live timings.

Ok, thanks, downloading trenit app / looking fo it in Google Play Store

@CMaster You can certainly give it a try if you want. No harm done.

6:41 PM
@RoryAlsop is that the same guy as on here???

@GayotFow which guy?

@RoryAlsop That commented about my fuse box

it is I, yes - sorry, without context that was tricky to figure out :-)

@RoryAlsop Well you certainly get around!

@GayotFow I actually went round and replaced almost all the sockets in my house with these, as Screwfix were doing an amazing deal - and because I have 3 kids and a total of about 25 devices that seem to always be needing charged
@GayotFow I have quite a bit of SE activity :-)

6:50 PM
@RoryAlsop Did you do it yourself?

@GayotFow yep - I am a qualified electrician, anyway, but a mad keen DIY'er - I sort out every house I but, adding Cat-5, proper lighting etc
The only thing I'm scared to touch is plumbing (oh, and gas of course)
as I haven't had the training, and the risk is too high.
The risk from 240v is minimal when managed
I have had the odd shock from high voltage stuff I have built though (upwards of 10,000v) - and that isn't quite so much fun

I'm just worried about that fuse box, it seems so rickety

@GayotFow it wouldn't be up to code nowadays, but the rule seems to be that they allow them to stay unless you do significant modifications to the house
It should be fine (I'm assuming you aren't on old round pin sockets - that's a different matter)

@RoryAlsop What are old round pin sockets?

@GayotFow you're in the UK, right? Used to have 3 pin, round sockets - 3 Amp. Very riskety
All houses should have had them replaced but you still see them occasionally. My old student flat in Edinburgh had them
there was a great black market in the undergraduate population in adapters

7:20 PM
how do I find out?

8:17 PM
what does the top one mean?
does anybody know?

@Davinder the Leonardo is good. They're usually spot on in terms of departure times.

@GayotFow Are you happy/working on the knots we discused over the weekend?

8:38 PM
@Willeke yes, i have started on the turk's head. :) very happy

:D :)

8:59 PM
@GayotFow that top icon looks like 10 past 6, (or just clock), does either of that make sense?
