A: Increase in silly questions and attempts to 'grab reputation'

Kate GregoryThe position of Stack Exchange is very clear: you vote on the question or the answer, not the person. Period. I have been flagging comments by people who say they are downvoting, voting to close or the like "because your other questions...". That's just not right. And these flags have been marked...

worth a read
Especially the first line.

Q: Where is it expected to tip housekeeping?

CMasterFollowing on from this question about how it is appropriate to tip housekeeping where it is expected. In what countries/regions is it expected to tip housekeeping? Does this expectation vary depending on the type of accomodation (eg Hostel/Bed & Breakfast/Motel/Apartment/Aparthotel/Tourist Hotel/...

Q: Do I need to provide a date of departure to apply to a EEA Family Permit in the UK?

MajujI am a French citizen, married to a Russian citizen, and I live in the UK. She is now filling the application for a family permit, to join me, and once there, she will apply to a residence card to stay permanently with me. Q: Maldives Visa On Arrival, full page or a regular size stamp?

Nean Der ThalI was wondering, what's the size of the VOA of the Maldives? is it a full page sticker visa, a full page stamp visa or a regular size stamp? The size of the visa is a game changer in some cases.

Anyone knows?

Dammed rosbifs invented the steam engine and since then their trains have not evolved.

@Relaxed I can answer it but for sure, but you are normally in charge over there

@GayotFow I am not in charge anywhere and I think you know more than I do about this, especially when it comes to actual practice in the UK (as opposed to how it should be under EU law) so, please, go ahead !

@Relaxed I put in an answer. It's really no big deal what they put
as long as the expiry date of the passport is appreciated

Great, thanks

5:55 PM
@Relaxed Just adding... between us... They don't even have to fill out the form if they don't want to :)

That makes sense
It's very detailed when you compare it to the requirements, most of the info could not serve as a basis for a refusal…

@MarkMayo I could answer it from general knowledge, just putting in what I think.
basically I do it everywhere, I'm not bothered about if it's "expected" or not. Neither should the OP. I have also asked the concierge how to show gratitude to the housekeeping staff.
Most recently in Dallas, but even in Russia and the continent...... It's universally the same by me IMHO
Who cares what's "expected", you do it because you're a righteous person.

6:50 PM
@MarkMayo just FYI, last month's issue of Independent Traveller gave some guidance on tipping safari personnel, guides, cooks, porters....

7:43 PM
@GayotFow Are you really a member of neighborhood swan watch?
Sounds like a risky duty. How do you cope?
:P
I just arrived in Bangor. Man I do not miss student halls.
@MarkMayo I can't see the bountied questions from the app. And that kinda sucks.

@JoErNanO It's the Marylebone Association, yes. They are a very good org to belong to. I was also on the Ward Committee for about 5 years or so, under MP Mark Fields
@JoErNanO It's the question about what tipping is expected

I'm just messing with you. :)
I've had an 11-hour train journey so I gotta take it out on somebody. :)
Stupid uk diesel trains. They're just glorified trams.
