1:43 AM
@JoErNanO Now I think he abandonned it

2:14 AM
hey guys i need an idea for my next holidays
two weeks in early september in europe. I want to go there with my VW van, see some nice stuff, have drinks and good food and nice weather..
and it should be in countries I haven't been yet
any ideas? :)

5 hours later…
7:11 AM
@RoflcoptrException Which countries haven't you visited yet?
@GayotFow Probably so but it's still worth writing an answer.

7:40 AM
xin xào

8:12 AM
any highlights between Xishuangbanna and Guangzhou?

1 hour later…
9:14 AM
@RoflcoptrException if you want nice weather in a country you haven't visited yet, I think the Balkans are your only option
Croatia,Serbia, Bulgaria, Romania or Turkey
but I don't know how actual is the map on your profile
you haven't visited Germany?!

@RoflcoptrException Montenegro? Although you must have passed through on the way to Albania…
Malta

@JoErNanO I will put an answer with a picture

(There are ferries from Sicily, although I am not certain going there by car is the wisest choice)
@Dirty-flow Given the fact that Croatia is such a prominent destination, Bulgaria or Romania are now pretty well known too, and @RoflcoptrException told us he went to Albania of all places, I find it hard to believe he hasn't been in those countries…

9:31 AM
yo

@RoflcoptrException Did you try any of the pre baltics?
@Relaxed Hope I didn't step on your toes yesterday

@hippietrail going to china soon?

@Relaxed probably, we don't know
we should put his question on hold :D it's unclear what he's asking because we don't know which countries he has visited already

10:04 AM
@Dirty-flow are you good with hardware? got a quick question..
is this ram the best option for this motherboard

I don't know, sorry

I am always not good with these many numbers in ram spec..

2 hours later…
11:44 AM
@IKeelYou Are you back?
@IKeelYou From the asus page on the mobo and the corsair page on the memory it would seem that they are indeed compatible.
Whether it's the best options is off-topic. :P
What exactly are you looking for?
@GayotFow You received my upvote.

12:11 PM
@GayotFow - I see the Caminito Del Rey website now lists regular buses between the car parks at either end, making a visit a 5hr rather than a 10hr trek
I plan on visiting at the end of June with my wife and 3 kids

@IKeelYou probably in about six weeks. friend is gonna be there for a day in the beginning of june

12:49 PM
Dammit - the June/July reservations page is full already!

1:31 PM
@Dirty-flow From such an experienced user, that's a disgrace, I will down vote the question!
(doing it with the right account, will be less confusing)

1:47 PM
I used to be schizophrenic but we're ok now

2:06 PM
@IKeelYou How was the sabbatical?
BTW this new nickname you picked is awful. :P

I am going to rant again but how is it possible to vote to close a question about what to put on the application form as a duplicate of a question from someone who already has a visa?
1
Q: Must I specify where I will enter the Schengen area on the visa application?

MilaShould I mention in my application form that I am entering a different country first and later I will be staying longer in the country which Schengen visa will be issued to me? Please help me before I submit my application forms.

Too narrow, boring, off-topic, too short, too long, duplicate of a dozen other questions, asked by someone who got an avatar with an ugly colour, anything but not that
</rant>

@Relaxed Indeed I thought the same, and voted to leave it open.

2:33 PM
@IKeelYou: man i just found a typical lame windows / java / c# programmers bug in that font checker thing you made for me! d-:
@Relaxed: the more of those are all duped into our one canonical answer the harder it will be for them to think up new wordings for the title that we don't already have (-: and the more googlable it will be

@RoryAlsop Thanks for spotting this!

indeed #4 in our frequent questions!

@hippietrail Well, OK, but then why not close it as a dupe of the toilet question?

It's only barely less similar than the two I mentioned
It's an entirely different question

2:39 PM
?
you lost me. utterly.
the schengen one is totally different to ____ ?
is #4 freq a different schengen visa question?

Q: Should my first trip be to the country which issued my Schengen Visa?

VolodymyrIn case, if I get a multiple-entry Schengen visa in one of the embassies in Ukraine, Kyiv - should my first trip be to the country which issued the visa? Any there any requirements of this sort? Does this condition vary depending on embassy which issued the visa? What are the possible consequen...

We are talking about two different questions
The one you just linked to

i thought we were talking about one which is identical to a dozen others

And the one I linked to half an hour ago
They are not identical, they are not even similar
Unless you only read the words “visa”, “Schengen” and don't try to understand the meaning they take when put together in a sentence

hmm what's one of the dozen then?
well it's too boring for me to process with too much of my brain (-:
this one looks closer but still maybe different
15
Q: Does a multiple-entry Schengen visa allow visiting other Schengen countries later, without going via the issuing country?

CarlMy wife was just issued a multiple entry visa by France, which is good for one year. Our first trip will be to France, the issuing country. My question is: after we leave the EU and return, must future trips also start in France? Or may we go directly to (say) Greece from the US on a later visit?

I don't know, at least any of the dozens questions about applying for (vs. using) the visa would be better fit
Not saying there is an exact duplicate anywhere, I didn't look, I was just railing against closing it as a duplicate of this particular question
Nope, exact same problem, it's about a visa you already have

2:44 PM
this one covers it but is two questions in one
4
Q: Can I use my Schengen visa for a completely different purpose and entry point?

user13581I am a non-EU national, permanent UK Resident. Recently, my work issued me with a multiple Schengen visa with Norway as the first (main) point of entry. Now I want to go on holidays to Greece - do I need to apply to Schengen visa again, as Greece is not Norway and I am not going there for work?

yeah well on stack exchange "exact duplicate" does not mean a duplicate which is exact (-:

Does it also include things that do not address the question at all then?

hehe sometimes but then it's wrong (-:
oi! there's a bit of france in north america??!!

Saint-Pierre-et-Miquelon ?

yeah - never heard of it until just now!

2:59 PM
It's one of the “confetti d'empire”

this is all new to me (-:
next time i'm in canada i simply have to go there

There are even crazier things, like Clipperton or the “îles éparses”
There are some very small islands around Madagascar where the French military maintains a presence just to support the claim that they are French

do tell
doesn't sound as interesting though

Juan de Nova Island (French: Île Juan da Nova (official), Île Juan de Nova (local)), also known as Saint-Christophe, is a 4.4 square kilometres (1.7 sq mi) low, flat, tropical island in the narrowest part of the Mozambique Channel, about one-third of the way between Madagascar and Mozambique. Anchorage is possible off the northeast of the island which also has a 1,300 metres (4,300 ft) airstrip. Administratively, the island is one of the Scattered islands in the Indian Ocean, a district of the French Southern and Antarctic Lands. Within its Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ) of 61,050 square kilometres...

sp&m would be a great full stop to a long overland trip across north america

3:04 PM
I have an uncle who worked for the post office there
Also went fishing cod at some point
But that's mostly gone now, the cod population collapsed

yeah just read that on wikitravel. google didn't find the wikivoyage page and i was lazy

Not quite sure what's left to do there

relax, from the looks of it
practice your french

Yes, but I meant for the locals ;-)

cheese and baguettes?
chat on the internet?
gossip. extra marital affairs.
whining about tourists

3:07 PM
So many possibilities
Although I would think that extra marital affairs would have been even easier when fishing was going well

Expect to pay around €35-50 for budget accommodations! bugger that d-:

For some reason, life is always expensive in French overseas territories
Civil servants get extra pay

so how much does the ferry cost and am i allowed to camp there?
or is there a campground?

I have no idea

3:54 PM
@JoErNanO check out the map on my profile, it's pretty much up to date :) except Germany as @Dirty-flow already pointed out :)
@Relaxed @Dirty-flow Sounds like a good suggestions! I have not yet been to Albania, but I'm going this June. But this time not for holiday but I for work. @GayotFow Yes the prebaltics I've already visited and I'm not so sure whether the weather is good enough there in September
wow lately so many old questions received new answers that are also actually questions
had to delete tons of them

4:45 PM
Hi
travel.stackexchange.com/a/46600/27650 smells like a spam post for me, but I am not sure enough to even flag it.

4:56 PM
@AnkurBanerjee would this link be spam? travel.stackexchange.com/a/46600/27650

5:11 PM
Seems someone took care of it already.

5:40 PM
@JoErNanO hi there, it was cute.. not my first time :)
@hippietrail just a reminder, I am a cabin crew member who knows c#.. so do not blame me if my code has a bug ;) just tell me where let me look into it..

6:00 PM
@Vince New users may not be familiar with the editor. The best thing to do in these circumstances is to simply fix the formatting of the post, and perhaps point them to the online help for same. — Michael Hampton 2 mins ago
Guys, let's try to not be so pointlessly mean to new users.

6:25 PM
@MichaelHampton not being familiar with the editor means he wasn't able to do something, but that specific user actually was able to make the font bold and large.. and in today's world who doesn't know what does that mean, especially if the user is a pilot and seems fine with technology...
plus, Vince used a magic word ;) he said hello.. so that gives him the right to say anything after that :D

6:46 PM
@Willeke Sorry I already took care before i saw your link here
it's deleted
@IKeelYou Haven't you see you for a long time!

@IKeelYou It was a bold and large font because he used # as a list item bullet, rather than - or *. That's all.
And I don't recall ever seeing a Markdown text editor in a cockpit.
The few remaining all-caps sections might be a problem though.

@hippietrail What are those sculptures? Look very interesting.

7:25 PM
@MichaelHampton new users get a large box in the side showing how to use the editor. plus he saw the final result, he could have simply changed it :) but anyhow, it is my opinion only.
@RoflcoptrException I was on a ban, you know how mods love me.. 1 month ban :)

@IKeelYou Nobody reads signs. But they sure as hell read comments!

@MichaelHampton I would be worried to fly with a pilot who does not read signs ;)

7:40 PM
The bigger the box, the more likely it's to be ignored

7:57 PM
can find a flight from CGK-LAX for less than 1k, the ones I found are 32hrs or so.. I don't like to be on a flight with a transit that takes this long..

ok that's a lot

i can't use the free tickets as well, cant gamble here, as these tickets are "space available". and last thing i want is to be left on an airport where i need a visa to enter the country..

i'm already afraid of my flight next week
hmm
and what if you stay a couple of days at your layover city?

the logical ones, which are 18 hrs total time is expensive, i would love to spend the money on renting a better car in LAX than in tickets..
I do not want to stay
i want to go from CGK (Jakarta) to LA to meet a friend for two days.. then go back to JED (saudi)...

Wow
has to be a good friend ... :)

7:59 PM
the way to JED is ok since it will be on the airline i work for.. but CGK to LA is not..
a very good friend, very very good..
So, eventhough this friend is super good, i won't do a 32 hrs flight..
and i also won't pay 2k for a ticket..

can't you meet in the middle?

no.
my good friend is in an official crew layover..
i guess i will try to use the free tickets (Zed Fare)
with a transit in a country i can enter without a visa
which seems difficult.. since i need visa in japan or china..
i will figure it out.. meanwhile if someone can get me a price less than $800 USD i'll be thankful.. i will owe him/her a drink ;)

a drink where? :)

whenever we meet..

Yes when are you coming to Switzerland?

8:05 PM
lannisters always pays their debts.. :D
no plans. i never been there..

That's why you should come

and for some reason i can go there easily any time. but never did, i am no friend of cold weather..

it's almost summer, i heard

summer there is worse than winter here...
now it is 40c here..
you would melt..

hmmm, i've once be in india with 45c
that was horrible

8:07 PM
i remember you saying all kinds of swears about that weather..
40c is fine, i can handle without sweating.. 50c is not..

:)
on the other hand, -20c is fine for me :)

not fine..
all sorts of shrinkage.. all the way from brain to toes...
:D
there is nothing better than 25c... it is just perfect..

80% of 25cm is still 20cm

lol
cold weather requires lots of packing..
gtg eat.. continue in a while..

8:30 PM
@RoflcoptrException you were saying...?

what did i say?

shrinkage

yes I explained it in details

it is not that.. it was just a word..
it would go to 100% if there is a hot "friend" around

9:35 PM
@MichaelHampton What happened?

@GayotFow The original comment is still there. You can read it for yourself.
New user got jumped on a bit and downvoted because he screwed up the formatting of his post.

9:53 PM
your "special" friend' :)
