I don't think I would want to use them. I mean generally the lower part of the seat (where your knee is), moves only a little. The only time I really had issues with that is when flying with AirAsia with their ridiculously small seat pitch.

7:11 AM
@drat I just either avoid airlines with to small a pitch, or go for seats with better spacing (exit rows, business class, bulkhead seats etc)
If someone tries to recline while I am still eating I ask them not to until I'm done

7:34 AM
Wow what a response on my "reclining seat" question, it is causing some heated attention again :D
Although it clearly shows two distinct classes of travelers. The real culprit here are the airlines

8:26 AM
@RoryAlsop yes, I think that's the way to go

spam spam spam....

8:52 AM
@mindcorrosive why did you removed it so fast, it was a good offer :)

9:20 AM
@Dirty-flow lol

4 hours later…

@JoeBlow: I have to wonder why you keep coming here, if you think this site is such a pitiful failure. Further, you constantly display an aggressive attitude, and mostly ignore the advice of those of us who have been around for literally years. If you're not interested in being part of our community, why do you stay here? — Flimzy Aug 20 at 14:32
That's a ... bold ... question @Flimzy?
it didn't get a response tho :/

@MarkMayo hehe... do you think it was out of line? I haven't noticed him complaining about the site's "failure" since then...
He also seems perhaps less aggressive lately... or maybe I just haven't noticed.

it's borderline, but he could have flagged it if he didn't like it
he's added a bounty on his 'find me a pass' question
oh that's the same question

Q: Are companies offering to obtain the EU delay compensation for you, effective?

andraLast year I had a flight with a Portuguese company which was delayed for one and a half day. At first they provided proper accommodation and I was willing to give them the benefit of the doubt. The second day however, I felt like being lied to constantly, due to frequent changing excuses for the ...

Added another bounty

@MarkMayo already 8

haha
Two thanks to @JonathanReez

he has already offered 11 bounties.. Respect!

Q: Wi-fi coverage in Taormina and Palermo

BogdanDoes anyone know how good is the wi-fi coverage in Taormina or Palermo? We're planning a trip to Sicily and I want to make sure I can work from there. I'm also thinking of getting an Italian sim card for faster internet access. What provider do you recommend that has a high speed in the area?

one more bounty

come on everyone, let's make it add a bounty day! Preferably on unanswered questions.

Honestly, I prefer to add bounties when there are few others.
To get the most bang-for-my-bounty-buck

heh

2:02 PM
Maybe that's silly... maybe there's a threshold of bounties that draws the most collective attention

Look at these lurkers, leaving their PCs logged in the chat. @RoryAlsop, @andra, @Karlson and @Alex ;)

I practically never bother with bounties on SO, though... with 387 active bounties, I can't expect mine to be noticed.

oh yeah, I tried once or twice but it didn't do much
They work pretty well here
Also we have 14 questions with answers that have no upvotes :/
sometimes it's because the answers are downvoted, fair enough, but it's sad that some don't get upvotes on boring topics

Mmm
somehow this one got reopened:

Q: Objective comparison info on districts in Palermo, Sicily, staying for a couple of days?

GreenI want to visit Sicily for a weekend (Friday- Monday). I plan to rent a reasonably priced flat/apartment in Palermo. I would like to know some of the major differences between the different districts of Palermo. Are there specific districts to avoid, due to crime? Are they all fairly comparable...

and of course I can't VtC again

@MarkMayo you just want someone to upvote your answer , aren't you? :D

2:06 PM
pfft, that was like 10 min ago, it'll get votes :)
but like this one:

Q: When asking for ID checking into a Spanish hotel, what is acceptable?

GagravarrWhenever I check into a hotel in Spain, they ask me for ID. A credit card and loyalty card for the hotel chain doesn't seem to be enough, it seems to need to be some sort of official ID. It seems that the expectation on the part of the staff is that you'd hand over your Spanish ID card, or faili...

ok two are downvoted

A: Visiting Lany or Inlemay on a cruise from Spain - single or multiple entry Schengen visa?

Dirty-flowTo expand my comment - You will need a multiple entry Schengen visa. Going to Turkey means that you leave the Schengen area and you will reenter it when you return to Barcelona.

that may be my next bounty question, asking for references

it took around 1 month to get upvote

2:08 PM
ouch
I quite often go through that list of 'unanswered' and upvote some that I've missed
especially while travelling

I do it quite often since we have >100 unanswered questions

@MarkMayo My chat logs into all my favourite rooms every time I log on in the morning
I don't keep all the tabs open, just those where I am a mod, but I respond to pings

:D

@MarkMayo nah simply to many tabs open
Should I ask which airlines offer non-reclining seats?
Or is that throwing oil on the fire? ;)

@andra Ryanair wants to have standing seats only

2:22 PM
It's only a matter of time before they just sedate us and pile us on top of each other for the 10+ hour flights
actually I might be ok with that

@MarkMayo naked - just to make sure you aren't carrying weapons or drugs...

but of course
wait for the automatic instagram selfies taken inflight

A: American citizen expat traveling to USA, how can I get liability auto insurance?

MMPAWe are also US expats living in Europe and don't own a car. When we rent cars (including the US), we do it via http://www.rentalcars.com/ ... their rates are sharp AND include insurance. I notice that one of the commenters has given you this advice already, so I can only confirm that it's the be...

Q: Which European cities are connected by convenient night boat

RemcoGerlichEach year I go on a city trip with some friends, within Europe. We go around five days, and in recent years we've started visiting several cities in that time. We have a new idea: to cut down on the time lost travelling in between cities, we could use night boats. They add something special and ...

is this not too broad? Are there not hundreds of cities in Europe connected by river?

I think it's ok, he narrowed it down a lot - long trip, overnight, airports near both cities

at least 100 cities in Europe have airports with >3million passengers
but yeah, the 'long trip' part would be the excluding factor more than the airport

Would you being sedated lying naked next to another naked passenger make you eligible to join the mile high club?

2:36 PM
I suspect when sedated, your body ain't doing much...

@MarkMayo Whether it's spam or not, it's NAA.

@Flimzy yeah, should be a comment at best
Whichever poor mod comes on first today is going to have a lot to deal with

@MarkMayo: That's usually mindcorrosive, I think.

well one of my flags was just handled
so a mod must be awake

2:46 PM
travel.stackexchange.com/users?tab=moderators -> mindcorrosive was active 12 minutes ago

Q: In the word "Scent", is the S or the C silent?

PimgdSo I saw a post on a funny pictures site... "In the word "Scent", is the S or the C silent?" And I thought I could ask about it here. In particular, how does the pronunciation of "scent" differ from "cent" and "sent"? Small audio references would help me in particular.

love it
@pnuts your proposed edit to andra's quesion is a massive change, had to reject. Best to suggest it in here or as a comment if you're making radical changes to posts :/
Looks like @Dirty-flow did too

I agree that the post is too long and there is some unnecessary information, but removing 90% of the question's body is far too much

3:05 PM
I've been summoned

we were just commenting you'd have quite a few flags to deal with today
but then we noted you were already on the case ;)

what happened
there was some spam that I took care of earlier

@MarkMayo We have at most a couple dozens sea ferries and are still waiting for a single example of the same thing by riverboat. Unless someone shows it's extremely common, I don't think it's too broad.

4:03 PM
@MarkMayo Thanks for the comment. I confess I did not expect it to be accepted but was not inclined to attempt half a precis, and needed to be going to a bank anyway.
