5:12 AM
بوووووو

2 hours later…
7:15 AM
@Bernhard Ah, ok the American handball they don't play with a ball, but with an egg, so call it handegg

7:36 AM
@Bernhard yeah, saw that
amusingly a friend in Toronto saw the question on the hotlist on stackoverflow, clicked, saw my name, and spent 30 min on travel.se before tweeting me about it :)
@Relaxed yeah it'll be fun choosing which one to do, but that's APril at the earliest

1 hour later…
8:40 AM
@MeNoTalk Australia recently switched because Oceania is really bad
In Asia they get to play serious teams (although not too difficult either) and have a good chance of making it to the world cup (there isn't even a full spot for Oceania, they have to win a play-off against the fourth or fifth in South America or something like that)
@MarkMayo I think you wouldn't want to do it earlier, the weather can be a problem
April is good, the crowds are a bit smaller and the weather should get better I think
@MeNoTalk OK, I looked it up, Australia switched from the OFC to the AFC in 2006

9:00 AM
Lol @Relaxed
But the Australian national team is not that good actually, they have an easy route for qualifying for the world cup

Didn't say they were good, but they are way better than the rest of the OFC…

For sure
You have New Zealand, what else?
Indonesia is in there?

No, it's in the AFC
Fiji, Vanuatu, things like that
No, it's in the AFC
Fiji, Vanuatu, things like that
Maybe French Polynesia has a team?

Is it a separate country even?
But yeah, you need some good opponents in your own area as well

Some French oversee territories have their own sports team
It has a large autonomy, its own parliament, not member of the EU, etc. but it's not a fully sovereign country

9:05 AM
ahja, I remember montserrat as well as a team

But the inhabitants are French citizens, a good player could play in the French national team as well

@Relaxed yeah been reading about that, but I've got a wedding on APril 11 that I'll probably go to, so it won't be before that (in NZ)
and summer sounds like it's mad busy
so late April could be perfect
Aus switched to AFC which meant NZ had a chance
and made it to the 2010 wc
(as the only undefeated team, btw) ;)

Ah, I remember I saw one game on television
against slovenia or slovakia or something
it hurted my eyes :p

Slovakia 1-1, I believe

Just discovered that they even organized a competition between all of them : fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Coupe_de_l%27Outre-Mer_de_football
@Bernhard But not as much as Arjen Robben…
The guy is wasting many perfectly good opportunities because he wants to play them alone, it's painful to watch

9:10 AM
@Relaxed Is your opinion based on 3-4-5 year ago?

No even the last world cup

in the national team during the last world cup, he did have some more eye for team mates

There were perhaps one-two actions where he surprised me by doing the right thing but still…

even to the point that he could have better gone for it by himself

Yeah, “more” than before, but that's a low bar
That's not the world cup I saw ;-)

9:12 AM
and how often do you see messi pass a ball to a team mate
only when the opportunity has vanished

I see I annoyed you :-) I am not talking about Messi…

Haha, I am never annoyed b y people on the internet :p

Since Argentina as a whole did not get many opportunities, it was less visible…
And then Messi the TV can be honest about him
But what you hear on Dutch TV about Arjen Robben makes it even worse

How do you mean?

I don't know, I have the feeling there is always one or two guys who are ecstatic about his prowess
And I don't share their view as you can guess ;-)

9:22 AM
You still watch NOS?

Yes, why not?
I don't really have TV anyway, I watch streaming, mostly in bars when the Netherlands play
and then they show all games for free, which is great

I never like the nos half-time talks
always skip those

Yeah, it's funny
But it's still better than French TV, I tell you
sometimes you are wondering if they watched the game at all or if they are just giving some pre-scripted commentary based on the name of the teams and players

well, I actually never watch any commentary
sometimes VI, but that show is not about football

What's that?

9:33 AM
voetbal international, the johan derksen show

@Relaxed nice one :) totally true as well.

9 hours later…
6:11 PM
apparently it is alwasy 9:41 on an iPhone

3 hours later…
9:05 PM
@bernhard :wq ;)

9:21 PM
@andra Haha, excessive key usage. :x
:)
