Q: Competition: When will we hit 10,000 questions?

Mark MayoYou have two-ish weeks to enter, with a date and time (UTC) for when you expect us to find question 10,000 on the front page. Only two three four rules: write a date and time (UTC) before the end of September, 2014 you can't write the 10,000th question yourself. moderators are not allowed to ...

@MarkMayo you have only protected it, probably you need to ask a mod to lock it

Q: When the answer to a question has changed

Mark MayoWe have a question on the longest flight. This week, a new flight, QF8, from Sydney to Dallas 'took flight'. It's the new longest in the world, according to the linked wiki and news reports. I went to the question to add an answer, but it's ... awkward. Should I add a new one, and unaccept the...

@MarkMayo: Edit the answer; that's why SE is half-wiki :)

@Flimzy I am not sure about this edit: travel.stackexchange.com/posts/37100/revisions
It's not the first time you do it
en.wiktionary.org/wiki/weight is really what I mean, I think

@MarkMayo no. It was a ... hot question!
I did a google search for "Shinto shrine Australia" (without quotes), and one of the hits included a thread with comments by @jpatokal : flyertalk.com/forum/japan/…

@Relaxed That use of 'weight' as a verb is odd to me--maybe it's regional--but feel free to revert that part of my edit.
@Relaxed: This is the usage I'm much more familiar with: en.wiktionary.org/wiki/weigh

@Flimzy Indeed, it's more common… but it's not what I mean

@Flimzy: you seem to have drawn the ire of a certain user lately. Doesn't seem you have flagged the question for mod attention, I only stumbled upon it while browsing the main site. It's best that you flag for mod attention these kinds of situations, even if we end up doing nothing -- personally, I prefer to monitor potentially explosive situations and defuse them before escalating.
FYI, user is suspended for a day for cooling off, having committed another, somewhat related offence

What happened to HaLaBi?

@CGCampbell Wow. I'm surprised anyone reads my blog. Ever. :P
@mindcorrosive Oh I see... you're talking about the question about asian names. I flagged one of his comments as offensive, but then he removed it himself, which handled the flag.

@flimzy I read a post on driving down baja, and you linked a blog post about a couple corrupt cops :) interesting read

@CGCampbell Ah yes... that was an exciting day, to say the least :)
