the best seat in economy question is on the front page of hot questions

Doc

the best seat in economy is the one with the seats next to you empty
end of story
United used to automatically "block" the seat next to 1K frequent flyers. those were the days...

7:22 PM
nah, because you could still be at the window with an empty seat next to you, and the aisle blogged by mr big-chilli-eating lardass
For the most part, my favourite seat, if not the exit row, is 2nd to back row, on the aisle. That's my only qualification
Not the back r ow, as I've learned - some back rows can't recline :/
@osvaldo-m - why did you delete your answer last night? it was epic, and gave me a great link to read on lifehacker :)

I understand the affection some people have with the aisle, but to me it screams "I'm not tall enough to have shoulders and elbows massacred by the drinks trolley". :(

9:46 PM
Oh I'm of the mind that elbows shouldn't be over the arm-rest anyway - it's no man's land. Ironically if the person next to me decides to use it, I'll then fight for it, solely because otherwise they inevitably slip over and into my ribs
but I also almost never sleep on planes, have accepted this fate and watch movies instead :)
