Hello, all! I am new to this SE community.

I have a gerbera daisy a little over 2 weeks old (since cut). One of them seem to be growing tinier flowers in the center. Could someone explain what this is, and why it is happening? I am curious.

Q: Is my daisy growing smaller flowers on itself?

onebreeI have some gerbera daisies a little over 2 weeks old (since cut). One of them seem to be growing tinier flowers in the center. Could someone explain what this is, and why it is happening? I am curious. The other daisies do not seem to have similar things growing in the center. If needed, I can ...

@onebree looks like this room isn't very active, but I'm glad to see you did get a response to your question... :)

@NiallC. Hi. I have a problem, my profile here on Gardening has been affected by a bug that affects SE globally. I'm unable to edit my profile. Could you help me? I want my profile on Gardening to be exactly the same that it is on all other SE sites. Could you help me with that? Here is the issue explained in detail: meta.stackexchange.com/questions/279526/…

@Fiksdal Hi! Your display name is correct now, but your profile image changed to an orange auto-generated one. Would you mind changing it back to your headshot? I noticed in your profile history that the display name change occurred at the same time as a profile image change.

4:48 PM
@NiallC. Thank you so much for your help! I have changed my profile picture again, and as far as I'm concerned everything is dandy. This is a serious bug though, I hope they solve it.
BTW, does it look like this site will graduate? I really hope so, it could be so useful!

5:33 PM
@Fiksdal well, once upon a time there was a similar bug, but that "ate" the reputation as well, reducing it to around 1, even for users with 50k and 100k reputation.
So consider yourself lucky! ;)

Q: What happened to this user's rep, badges, and name?

MysticialThis user is only displaying 56 rep. http://stackoverflow.com/users/2354107/user2638924 But surely (s)he has much more than that. The user has also never given out any bounties. Also, badges are missing:

This is the bug ^

Wow, that sounds even worse!
@ShadowWizard I'm sure the devs will solve it like they did the other one. And I have now asked the question that I was about to ask when I noticed the problem: gardening.stackexchange.com/questions/24967/…

6:56 PM
@Fiksdal no doubt they will! Cheers, and good luck finding what flower this is... ;)

Thanks :)
Does this SE look like it's gonna graduate? How can I keep track of the progress?
@ShadowWizard

7:23 PM
@Fiksdal I'm afraid not.

A: Let's get critical: Oct 2014 Site Self-Evaluation

AnaGreetings from the Stack Exchange Community Team! I realize this self-eval happened a good while ago but I'm circling back after a request came in for feedback about how close G&L is graduating. In an effort to be helpful, I'll be blunt. This site is not showing the hockey stick growth we look f...

As Ana said, it doesn't mean that site will shut down, just won't graduate.
And just to prove it's not improving...

Q: If you want the site to succeed, you need to VOTE!

PpoggioThis week there are two people that voted. Me and a user named Sue. If you want your site to succeed, you need to vote. Go look at all the meta articles describing the NEED to vote on questions. SE is a rewards based system and NO ONE on this site is rewarding anyone for asking questions. ...

As for tracking progress, only CM can really tell. Jon Ericson is one, not sure he's responsible for this site but even if not, he can ask the one who is, maybe still Ana. @Jon has there been any progress towards graduating?

Wow... That's too bad.. But at least it won't shut down.

yup. :)

I guess I better step in and take part in the site.. I spend a lot of time with plants.

Sites can stay in beta for long long years, but they can also shut down at some point.

A: What are the success criteria for an Area 51 beta site?

Robert CartainoThe "success criteria" is outlined in detail in this blog post: When Will My Site Graduate? But here's the gist. A site will stay in beta for at least 90 days. After 90 days, it becomes eligible for graduation as a full site. A site will graduate when it has: Established a critical mass of "...

I believe it's all still relevant.
Robert is the "big boss" of Area 51
@Fiksdal true, though would be hard to make a real change alone.

@ShadowWizard It would, but change happens one person at a time :)

@sandwich Hasn't come up yet, but I'm pretty excited with the progress here.

@NiallC. oh. Thanks!
@J.Musser hey, you're still around here? Looks like young trees are arriving, might be able to learn from your experience... :-)

There's a strong seasonal variation in the activity on this site, with most activity during spring in the northern hemisphere. It's a lot stronger this year than previous years, so I've got my fingers crossed...

@NiallC. lol, just like trees and plants, which bloom during spring.... :D

@ShadowWizard Exactly!

8:29 PM
@NiallC. You need more users from the tropics or southern hemisphere :)

9:03 PM
@Fiksdal Stack Exchange should send me on an all-expenses paid recruiting trip to some of the more scenic spots. :)

Sure, I'll take the job. I settle for $300 a day.
If not, then you've got me. I'm a user from the tropics.

9:45 PM
@NiallC. Haha, sorry I misread your joke the first time. It's really late in India. I thought you were saying they should send someone...
@NiallC. They should send you... Yeah... We could suggest it to the management :)
