@J.Musser - boy, that was interesting, and sooo true... I think ages ago I told you that's why I never mentioned my gender on here. It's been my experience over the years that being female immediately means you are not taken seriously, however qualified and experienced you are. But interestingly, I think its actually worse in the US than here, attitudes to women generally I mean. I had two sons - brought them up to think if women as people first, female second. Has worked to a degree

@J.Musser but only to a degree - what I neglected to teach them was that older people also still have brains and should be taken seriously, particularly women, so now I find my younger son being terribly patronising and doing that head patting thing that men do to women, and worse, sometimes jeering. He does not take seriously what I do/have done in my life, yet expects respect for his professionalism. But maybe that's a parent/child thing; I hope its that or he's doing it with other elders.
