Hi everyone
It's been 5 days without any message so I just wanted to share with you guys that in about 20 days, I'm starting my new job as Salesforce consultant. And I'm really excited ! :D
I'd be glad to hear some advices from you !

@MartinLezer Congrats!
Or should I say, félicitations!

1:41 PM
@AdrianLarson Merci ! :D
So I'm a bit scared of doing a lot of pre-sales in my new job. I know how to improve myself technically but how can I improve myself for pre-sales of Salesforce?

2:00 PM
It's mostly just about being socially well adjusted, smile, make eye contact, that sort of thing.
Though I guess I'm not sure what "pre-" means exactly, just those two things will take you pretty far
If you're comfortable and confident, then they will be too.

2:12 PM
@AdrianLarson Thanks. Yes that's the sort of things I need to improve you're right. Specially my timidity.
But my biggest fear is to not know all the possibilities that Salesforce provide. I mean all the functionalities. My job will be to analyse the needs of other companies. To be able to answer these needs by using Salesforce. But Salesforce is full of different functionalities. And I don't think I know them all.

@MartinLezer Yeah for sure but basically no matter what they ask, the answer is that yes Salesforce can do it. Unless you want Business Intelligence, which I haven't found the platform to be very good at.
You don't have to architect the whole solution on the spot, just know what's within the realm of possibility.

@AdrianLarson You're totally right. It's gonna be so easy.
The client: "So we need to have ...., do you think it will be possible with Salesforce?"
Me everytime: "Yes it will."
:D
****puts on sunglasses**** "I'm out"
I stop kidding, you're right. I suppose I have to think everytime that almost everything is possible with Salesforce.

2:37 PM
@MartinLezer Haha mic drop!

2:57 PM

On a completely unrelated note, I think I've fulfilled my nerd quota for the day.

I just used a terminal emulator on my phone and OpenVPN to SSH into my home server, start up a tmux session, and start running 3 instances of badblocks (which will probably end up taking 2-3 days to complete) to test the new hard-drives I got for my NAS.

//
This week I tested Sublime Text 3 with MavensMate and think it's not so bad. Unfortunately, I don't think there is a perfect IDE to develop for Salesforce yet.
@DerekF I didn't understand a word you said. lol
No I joke, I understood until tmux....

@MartinLezer Nice, I use MavensMate with Atom myself. I agree that there isn't quite a perfect IDE
@MartinLezer tmux is a utility that...I actually don't quite know how to describe it.

@DerekF If I understand well, you are performance testing your new NAS?

it allows a terminal session to continue running in the background, even after you close the terminal window, and it allows you to have multiple terminal prompts in a single window.
@MartinLezer Almost. I'm running tests on the new HDDs to make sure that I can safely use them in my NAS.

@DerekF All right. So now I know that if I have a nerd question, I know where to ask. lol
Omg I can't count the number of people this week that asked one question per step of their current work. Do they even try to search sometimes?

3:23 PM
@DerekF NERD!!!
@MartinLezer That's the setup I use. Works pretty well for me.
@MartinLezer Yeah people are lazy.

@AdrianLarson guilty as charged :p

@AdrianLarson Yes looks great. I'm just a little bit disappointed by the auto complete but it's better than nothing (if you know what I mean).

@MartinLezer I actually find it significantly better than what's in Eclipse
It's also more forgiving, like if I have OpportunityLineItemTriggerHandler I can just do OLITH

@AdrianLarson Nice ! Didn't know that.
Ok I just received an email from salesforce for a basecamp at Chicago. Glad they give me a 10$ discount if I register now.

Oh yeah? When is that?

3:34 PM
@AdrianLarson April, 11. But a 10$ discount on a 1500$ trip to the US....
I don't even know what's the cost actually
It's a basecamp dedicated to the small businesses.

I'm late to the party, but I've been using VSCode with MavensMate and like it a lot. The autocomplete is so helpful. Haven't used Sublime so I don't know the pros/cons

2 hours later…
7:17 PM
@RobertWatson Interesting, I hadn't heard of that one.
