@Trelz btw on essay pro assume anything in the article text which consists of square brackets with numbers inside is a reference regex: \[[0-9]*?\]
Also for removing tags I used <.*?> which should work most of the time if you do the tag removal before unescaping the html, the only place it fails is if there is a > in a string inside the tag e.g. <span class="lun>ch">
