Maybe the Workplace but you should ask in their chat or meta before posting there just to be sure your queation is ok.

I am trying to imagine the various types of websites in broad terms as related to the specific page-by-page. For example, SEO blogs sites have pages with tight narrow focus on topics per page. These tend to be informational on a smaller topic. Whereas a personal blog can be more about a vacation and can cover a wider view of topics that are not specific. A food blog can be about recipes, ingredients, cooking tips, complementary wines, and so on and can cover a semi-specific topic more broadly.
My imagination is not working too well today. If you were to imagine sites and categorize them into page types, narrow topic, rambling, personal, technical, and so on, how would you define them into a small(ish) list that describes the various page types? This may seem broad, but I suspect a small list can describe page types rather well. How would you define these pages??

I guess I am talking somewhat about style. For example, academic and encyclopedic would be more text based and longer but still may be technical, an SEO blog page shorter and narrow in a technical topic, e-commerce and company product pages would be similar in that they are short and descriptive but not necessarily technical, personal blogs would be much broader in scope, data driven would be technical and factual without prose, etc.

Okay. I came up with this list, but I am sure I am missing some aspects: Prose (not short), Prose Short with Narrow Topic (SEO Blog), Item / Product Description (e-commerce), List Narrow Topic (DMOZ, software recommendations), List Broad Topic (regional businesses, regional activites), Gallery or Media (primarily- little prose), Social Page (Facebook, MySpace), Data Driven (fact based, no prose), Dialogue (forums). What am I missing or does this list cover it fairly well??
