@Zgarb @DJMcMayhem The two of you have offered to write challenges for the challenge winners. Do you want to sort out between the two of you who writes which one?
@Dennis @LuisMendo @DJMcMayhem @nimi @AdmBorkBork @Mego @NathanMerrill You are the highest-rep users who have offered to give out bounties for the Best Of. Could you all confirm whether you're still up for spending 500 rep on one of the prizes? Once I get everyone's responses I'll figure out who gives rep to whom.

@MartinEnder Sure, I'm still up for it.
Can we request the category we'd like to reward? I'd love to do Best explanation or "it's not a bug"

Sure. Don't know if I'll be able to accommodate everyone, but I'll take it into account.

OK, thanks! There's a couple badges for bountying your own question that I haven't gotten yet, haha

Anonymous
@MartinEnder Absolutely. I'd prefer best explanation since I proposed the category, but I'm not too picky.

@zgarb (I'm not sure if this ping will work) I'm not super picky. I think it would be a little easier for me to come up with a challenge for ais532, but if you have any strong preferences feel free to pick.
(is pinging a user who hasn't entered the room a mod ability?)

8:34 PM
yes

@MartinEnder Sure. If possible, I'd like to bounty primo's Hello World answer.

damnit

Anonymous
Hmm?

that was my preference as well

No fair, you already bountied that answer last year. :P

8:49 PM
@MartinEnder yep

@MartinEnder Sure!

any preferences?

no
are we going to stagger the bounties?

@MartinEnder Like Mego, I'd prefer my category but I don't mind at all if it's another

8:51 PM
ok. If you can ping me when its time to bounty, and with what question, I will\

Anonymous
Same

are any of the bounty givers getting a bounty?

Anonymous
Dennis and DJ are

me too

Oh, I missed the fact that you were giving a bounty

8:55 PM
We should propose a code golf challenge to find all possible solutions without self-bountying :-P

@LuisMendo that's actually a great idea (if not a dupe)

so, you basically have a digraph of in nodes, and out nodes
and some of the nodes are both in and out

@DJMcMayhem Go ahead with it if you like :-)

Haha, OK sure.

and you have to ensure all the nodes are connected, and no node is connected to itself

9:05 PM
To make it more complicated, some users have earned multiple bounties, and some users may offer multiple bounties

surely there's already work done on this?
like, this seems like a graph theory 101 problem

I'm not even sure where I'd start writing a non-golfed solution to this. Graph theory is confusing

@DJMcMayhem import networkx as nx

@MartinEnder: Yes, I'm still offering a bounty.

9:28 PM
If possible, I'd like to award my bounty to one of the two "challenge" categories.

Anonymous
@nimi The challenge categories are getting unique challenges, not bounties. You can't bounty a question.

@Mego there are 23520 valid bounty combos given our real world data
And around 17k invalid combos

Anonymous
@DJMcMayhem So it's going to be tricky to assign the bounty responsibilities. Gotcha.

I mean, that depends on what is included in the 17k invalid combos
does it allow for people not giving anything?
aka, is the combo of "nobody gives any bounties" considered in the invalid count?

Interesting. If I set Martin to receive 7 of the 8 bounties while still awarding one, there are still 5040 valid combinations

9:33 PM
that's 7!
aka, the order of the bounties Martin received matters

Ah, makes sense.
I'll post it in here so you guys can play around with it if you want.
It's 15 lines long. Should I post it directly or use gist?

Anonymous
Gist, preferably

Anonymous
@DJMcMayhem What on earth are you doing on line 6?

9:49 PM

Ah, duct tape coding
