@fredsbend Judging by some of his more recent Meta posts, I would actually prefer Korvin as mod to myself. Attempting to judge objectively, I would place myself as the second weakest of the candidates available overall.

@fredsbend I'm not sure, as neither of us has had to take the plunge. Unlike modern politicians, I am not gonna sit here and trash @bruisedreed for a few reasons, one of which is that he's one of the stalwarts of this site. All I can offer you is my best effort and such talent as I possess. My own shortcomings are no secret, and as I noted I have learned in the past year through being a mod at a different forum that I have to get in role before I log in.
@fredsbend Regarding more rules, uh, I am not a programmer nor a rules centric person despite a military career. Adding Yet Another Rule to solve our problems I see as a sickness in our current society. You might say I am rules light. We probably have enough, and we maybe have too many. Not sure, I have not given that particular question sufficient deep consideration to give a better answer.

@curiousdannii And I'd probably tend toward no. We do have overlap, and it's OK if a question can work at either site.

1:29 AM
@bruisedreed That is very kind of you to say, and I thank you. You are a class act.

2:10 AM
@KorvinStarmast yeah, that's a good post - but it's easy to be nice; if you're gonna be mod - you probably gotta be more like @Caleb.

@PeterTurner Peter, I have found that as a moderator (on that other forum, not in the SE network) I need to be diplomatic far more often than as a user. I was a mod on a forum about ten years ago and after two months, I resigned as I was not able to restrain my impulse to "not suffer fools gladly."
That impulse I have taken the edges off of over the years, but it's still there and I have to be aware of it. The past year has taught me a lot about, you guessed it, Christian charity in a way that I had not previously understood it. Like most, I remain a work in progress.

I go back and forth on being nice and not being nice. If you've ever read The Ball and the Cross by GK Chesterton, I think I'm a bit like the Catholic guy in that book. A little to ready to justifiably smash windows. There is a very hard lesson to learn and it's not even easy to put it in to words.

@PeterTurner I'm actually in the middle of reading that book.

3:46 AM
@El'endiaStarman that's awesome, it'd be great if youd give a shot at answering my question about the book when you're done (won't link it because it's probably got spoilers and that book is too good to be spoilt)
I'd like to make a sequel one day, set in Maryland called The Balls and the Cross. About the toppers that they use on all the states flags, except Maryland who uses a cross.
(of course that would just be the beginning of a jolly romp)

@KorvinStarmast I like that answer so far.
@bruisedreed That doesn't bode well for getting my vote ...
