"Die Truppe besteht zu einem Großteil aus Freiwilligen." why do we need "zu" here? It seems extraneous
AFK

7:15 AM
It's not "zu einem Großteil", but "zu einem Großteil"
--> "zu einem Großteil" > "größtenteils"
--> Die Truppe besteht {zu einem Großteil / größtenteils} aus Freiwilligen.
Guten Morgen @Astrum btw.

@Vogel612 Guten Morgen
why must they always pick the confusing way to say things

it's not confusing..
The troupe to a great part consists of volunteers.

sure, but they used threee words whne they could have used one
that's just confusing

in English it's 4 words, you really shouldn't complain..

I suppose the English sentence is a bit weird too

well, it is a literal translation..

7:50 AM
sure, but that translation works
I just can see how it could be a little confusing

<-- meeting

I'm having an MC meeting...

8:50 AM
MC meeting?

9:26 AM
Minecraft!
I've got a question about the word "appreciate". Leo gives seven possible translations for it...

@TomAu i think the edit you performed is not a good edit. I don't see any reason for editing the question to talk about an abbreviation. The 'in short' previously i that question has nothing to do with the length of the word, but is a request to keep anwers short and understandable. For these reasons I rolled back. If you disagree, I suggest you chime in on German Language Chat and Ping me. I'll be lurking around there the whole day tomorrow... — Vogel612 2 mins ago
