Lots of Magic inside jokes in this one: themeadery.org/articles/…

6 hours later…
10:22 PM
I've noticed that there's no tag for Legend of the Five Rings? Is there any chance someone with the rep could add legend-of-the-five-rings (synonym l5r) and ivory-edition?

10:45 PM
@SimonGill on what question?
@SimonGill If there isn't a question yet, standard procedure is to just ask it with a generic tag. Someone will edit the tags to fix it.

Fair enough, which tag should I use for that? I did have a dig for something appropraitely generic, but only untagged looked halfway appropriate.

@SimonGill Honestly, it doesn't really matter. untagged is probably fine, or you can use

I tried untagged and the site moaned at me :P

Well, that's a synonym of , but it would be fine
@SimonGill Yeah, I'm not surprised. That tag is used for questions whose tags have been removed from the system by an automated script
I wasn't sure if you could add it yourself
@SimonGill Is the question only valid in Ivory Edition, or does it depend on that Edition?

The expendable keyword is defined in that editions rulebook.

10:53 PM
@SimonGill You should just specify that edition in the question then.

Lots of things change from edition to edition, but rarely from expansion to expansion the way magic does it.

@SimonGill Do these editions add on to each other, or do rules from some editions not apply in later ones?

Some rules don't apply.

@SimonGill So you can't just say you're working from the latest rules?

Well, you could, but that would lose historical context in 2 years when the next edition comes out.
I'm going off my experience over on the RPG stack exchange where, say, D&D has a 3.5, a 4th edition and fifth edition subtag.

10:57 PM
@SimonGill What I'm trying to ask is: when the next edition comes out, do you expect answers to your question to be inconsistent with that edition's rules?
Is that even a possibility?

That's alright, I know you're trying to figure out what to do with the tag.

There's a high likelihood of that happening, yes.

@SimonGill OK, for now I think the best think is to just specify the version in the question title or text, as I edited into your question

Fairy snuff, thanks for that.

If we get a ton of questions about it, and expertise begins to divide along edition lines, then we'll probably switch to tagging editions

Well, let's see if anybody turns up to start using it first.

Q: Old answered questions that have not been accepted

link64Is there anything that can be done about old questions that have a valid answer that has not been accepted? For example, How many Mythos cards can be played during the investigator's turns? This question was asked back in 2011, was answered, with an appropriate reference to the rules but has not...
