I support closing those as duplicates

@mevaqesh That's not only the same joke but the same context. This one is the same joke in a completely different context. There answers to one could answer the other. Here that's not the case.
@Daniel Would you mind elaborating?

12:56 AM
@DonielF The point of PTIJ is funny jokes
if we see the same joke lots of times it's not funny anymore
even if they could have different answers
but the quality of a question isn't judged by its answers
having said that, we don't have anything about this in our policy
so I think this is really something to consider for next year rather than changing the policy mid-season this year

1:32 AM
@Daniel Its not a question of changing policies. Duplicates were already off topic. The question is just whether two questions are duplicates.

1:47 AM
@mevaqesh @Daniel According to the regular definition of duplicates these wouldn't be dupes of each other. The question here is whether a joke can be repeated, and to that I hear Daniel's point - both that a joke, even with different applications, isn't funny after it's been used repeatedly, but that redefining a PTIJ duplicate mid-season also shouldn't be done.

2:31 AM
@mevaqesh I agree with @DonielF here. Duplicates are certainly off topic but this doesn't meet the normal criteria for a duplicate
Questions that are duplicates under even normal criteria can certainly be closed already this season
But to make special duplicate criteria for PTIJ should be discussed as part of the PTIJ policy
@magicker72 hey there

Q: All the many, many details

AnneliseI understand a number of reasons why the Jewish community keeps so many rules to the level of minutiae. But why SUCH a level of intricacy in some of these laws? I looked through a large book on the laws of brachos, because this is one aspect of Jewish practice that resonates very loudly to me (I...

Guys, in less than two weeks, all the PTIJ posts are getting closed in any case. If you don't like one, downvote it and/or vote to close, and go find something else that you enjoy more.
Unless what really gives you joy is arguing over the fine points of how closely related two jokes can be without being duplicates, in which case, by all means, carry on! It's Adar, after all.
This has been a message of questionable advisability from a cranky long-time community member. Any blue coloring of that person's name is incidental.

@Daniel Why, hello.
