@IsaacMoses They should send winners a personal message instead of just trusting them to read the generic announcement.

@Scimonster Perhaps. Maybe they do that as a backup. Maybe the whole point of the raflfe is to get people to read their mass emails. Anyway, I'm not complaining, but maybe I'm biased.

@DoubleAA It might provoke interest. But although I am a rabbi, I try to stick to public speaking about Jewish Thought and Mussar, and avoiding being a poseiq. (I believe pesaq should be the product of apprenticeship, which I am deficient in.) IOW, it's because someone may be interested that I wouldn't post in public. You can email me privately, though.

Q: Is it possible to have a database of Mekoros on this website?

Ploni AlmoniBeing that I'm relatively new to the stack-exchange community I was wondering what additional features could be placed on this site by the moderators. Is it possible for users to have access to a source database located within the site (like Bar-Ilan, Otzar HaChochma or even Sefaria) and/or eve...

Q: Is Mi Yodeya a Judaism Stack Exchange, or a Rabbinic Judaism Stack Exchange?

SarahI was thinking to leave the forum because I tend to approach Scripture from a different perspective than Orthodox Jews do. I do not disregard Rabbinic writings. I find them helpful in gaining perspective, wisdom, and understanding, especially in areas that written Torah is unclear or in circumst...

Q: How many times per hand?

M. BroderI've noticed that sometimes I see people washing Netilas Yadayim by washing once, twice, thrice, or four times per hand. Is there any Halachic reason for this, or is it just a Minhag?

Q: Why when washing for bread do we splash twice?

yydlIs there any particular reason the procedure for washing hands for bread includes pouring the water twice on each hand? Isn't once enough?

Q: What's the reason for the opinion that one must wash their hands thrice before eating bread?

Ani YodeaSome sects of Ashkenazim (mostly Litvish) wash their hands only twice, while some Sephardim and some Hasidim wash three times. Based on this answer I know that the first splash gets rid of the impurity. The second splash gets rid of the impure water on the hands from the first splash. What is th...

Q: Washing Once or Twice

Chiddushei Torah Someone told me that technically one needs to pour water on each hand only once since we use large quantities of water. Is there a halachic source for this? I heard that the requirement to pour twice over each hand (i.e. washing for bread), is really when you have only a revi’is of water (about ...

Is there a better way to merge/sort these? Like someone compose a canonical post to ask that they can all be merged into?

Q: Commemorating Death

Seth JWhat are some sources about when it is appropriate - if ever - to celebrate the death of an enemy? My question is inspired by last night's news of the death of Osama Bin Laden, naturally, as well as the apparent coincidence that 2 days prior was the anniversary of the report of Adolf Hitler's de...

I was more talking about Brexit and the anti-Zionist EU.
Not to have a flamewar, but can I be happy at the fall of an evil organization (the question itself is not specifying what organization-- I want to avoid the argument)?
