In the time since we started working on the profile, generations of dinosaurs were born, fell in love, had families, and were killed by a comet. Or climate change, or maybe texting and driving or some nonsense like that. Anyway, as of today, it’s live on SO and about half the network, and we’ll be rolling out to the rest over the next few weeks. And it was worth the wait:

I feel bad for this fellow. His first question gets immediately bombarded with downvotes and it took 5 comments before someone bothered to say hello and explain to him in a helpful and instructive tone what was expected of him and why.

@yEz Eh. He probably hasn't seen any of the downvotes or comments. His "last seen" timestamp is the same as the question's creation timestamp. And it's not like he invested a great deal of his time in crafting an intriguing post, only to be shot down. Also, the first four comments may not have been explicitly welcoming, but they were all polite and constructive.

@IsaacMoses If I were him, I wouldn't bother improving my question or ever coming back if that was my first experience.
