@ShmuelBrin Ah. Thanks for clarifying. I didn't know that ever worked....I always either clicked on chat from the SE dropdown on the home page, or typed in chat.stackexchange.com/rooms/468 manually.
^^^^ ( manually = with browser memory ;-)

Q: Let /m/[number] link between Main and Meta

msh210Proposal http://judaism.stackexchange.com/m/1473 should link to Meta post #1473. http://meta.judaism.stackexchange.com/m/1473 should link to Main post #1473. And, of course, likewise for other Stack Exchange sites. This would be done via an HTTP 301 redirect, as the /u/1473, /q/1473, and /a/1...

If only my rep was a nice round number too.

@ShmuelBrin @Shokhet Yeah. At some point, SE must have shuffled the DNS settings, and that got lost in the shuffle. I set bam. up initially when I owned yodeya.com, and IIRC, SE did set up bam. to point here at some point after I handed over the domain. If you want this fixed, ask the mods or Meta to ping SE devs about it.

@Shokhet To come here, I type vd, arrow down, enter.
@IsaacMoses What was ani.yodea.com when it existed?
Discussions about mi.yodeya belong at ani.yodeya. Questions about mi.yodeya policy and practice, within reason, belong here, under the meta tag. — Isaac Moses May 11 '10 at 11:17

@TRiG reddit.com/r/yodeya , which I never really pushed, and which therefore never got used. That comment was before there were Meta or chatrooms.
... and I'm going to go ahead and delete that comment.
... and the clause in the post its on that it inspired.
lo.yodeya.com pointed to yodeya.blogspot.com, which is currently set to redirect to lo.yodeya.com, which currently points to Mi Yodeya. That blog was my place to write about m.y as it got started and contained maybe 10 posts. I'm not going to the trouble to fix it right now.

A: To what grains do the laws of yoshon apply?

ScimonsterThis only applies to the five grains: wheat, barley, oats, spelt, and rye. They all have the same cutoff date (16th of Nisan). Yoreh Deah 293

@DoubleAA claims that not all agree on oats... but you and I and everyone know that for oats, peas, beans and barley, it's go.
I apologize. ....that song's been stuck in my head for days and I needed to say that publicly somewhere or i'da burst

@CharlesKoppelman We're always glad to be here for you.

@DoubleAA better in chat than in comments, right? Thanks.

7:00 PM
@Shokhet In case you didn't notice, Oded undeleted resolved answers on MSE about the profile page. I just got 100 rep back or so.

@Scimonster I saw that. I didn't count rep, but I got about the same amount back also.

Q: Questions should focus on "actual problems"?

YpnypnThe Tour states, "Focus on questions about an actual problem you have faced." This makes sense on a site like Stack Overflow. But here at Mi Yodeya, questions about actual problems are usually off-topic. Should the Tour's text be changed?

@Scimonster I got pung with "answer edited," noticed the undeletion, and then the rep :)
@TRiG I'm confused. What does vd do for you?
I type chat, then arrow down once or twice, and then Enter

@Shokhet It's a distinctive portion of the URL http://chat.stackexchange.com/rooms/468/vdibarta-bam

@IsaacMoses Ah. .....for some reason that doesn't work for me.

7:14 PM
Hmm. I go to MY, click the SE dropdown, chat, then Bam. :/

@Scimonster I'll also do that sometimes.....but the direct url is faster.

@Shokhet I should totally start using it.

@Shokhet I think browsers differ in how they behave when you start typing URL portions. This works for me fine in Firefox.

@TRiG Ah. I'm using Chrome.

(It also works for The Upper Room (upp), Jaami'at StackExchange al-Islamy (al), and English Language & Usage (eng). (I don't need it for that last one, because I am able to remember that it's room 95.)

7:18 PM
Interesting. I know that this room is 468.....but we really should have made it #613 ;-)
^^^^ is a dead room anyway.
.....and the question that it's a comment on was deleted from programmers.SE......
: let's take over room 613!!

Q: Sifrei Neviim that don't make it to the haftarot

loewianWhich seforim in navi are not in any of the Haftarot?

riddle?
@Shokhet It could happen but you'd have to get a Programmers mod to send it our way. I can't grab it.

@DoubleAA Hm....
@IsaacMoses I don't think so....but all the same, all old links to comments in Bam would break....unless we leave this room here as an archive, and make #613 "Bam II"
@DoubleAA I don't think so....but I'm not sure how the classification works, either.
Can we ask our questions here?

@DoubleAA It's a poor post in that it lacks motivation, and it may well have been meant as a riddle, but maybe not.
... will ask

While the question text would have be changed considerably (to ask what the Talmud and Rashi were meaning), I think you would be much more likely to get a useful and interesting answer if this was migrated to Mi Yodeya. — curiousdannii 11 hours ago

@Shokhet I think that a worthwhile path could be to come back here, "no" answers from there (by fdb and Flying) in hand, and ask what else the Gemara could have meant. I think that Dominik Lukes doesn't really answer the question and that that sort of analysis is what you'd find better experts for here, as suggested by his last sentence.

10:30 PM
@IsaacMoses I might do just that. Before I do, I'd like to take a look at the footnotes in the Artscroll (maybe also in the Koren, if I could get my hands on one [ have they published Gittin yet? ]) and see if they discuss the question there.
@Shokhet Apparently, Koren doesn't have Gittin yet
