4:08 PM
I was invited here apparently...
Not sure why :-p

4:27 PM
@JohnSlegers Hello:)
I thought creating # would push the proposal forward, as currently it's stuck.
It also help to clarify scope, since there is massive amount of downvotes.

Not really that interested in "paranormal" myself

No worries. But you've interesting conspiracy proposals as well.

Illuminati is almost weird as Paranormal.

Just because none of them are mainstream, that doesn't make them related ;-)

4:31 PM
There are a lot of theories that behind Illuminati there are aliens.

Still not paranormal ;-)

And Illuminati is a scope of conspiracy
'crackpot conspiracy theories' -> wired.com/2012/01/obama-mars ?

Paranormal, as I see it, involves belief in what one might qualify as "magic"
"Illuminati" involves one particular secret society from the 18th century and the belief that the oligarchs running the west are in some way related to that organization
"Illuminati" is obviously related to "conspiracy" and "secret societies"

Conspiracy about WTC and electromagnetic spike before WTC collapsed counts like both conspiracy and paranormal.

but I don't see the relationship with "paranormal"
electromagnetic spikes could have a perfectly natural cause

also, conspiracy doesn't mean fringe per se
the American revolution was basically the consequence of a conspiracy
so was the murder of Caesas
* Caesar
so was the Gunpowder plot

WTC Conspiracy and resolving it (its spike) may prove Global Consciousness

history is full of proven and generally accepted conspiracies
it's only since the CIA came up with the term "conspiracy theory" to mock those who reject the official story of the JFK assassination that the term "conspiracy" is considered fringe and related to fruitcake theories

if it would be proven, then it would be not called conspiracy

A proven conspiracy is still a conspiracy
Conspiracy (political) : an agreement between people with the goal of gaining political power or meeting a political objective
Conspiracy (criminal) : an agreement between people to break the law in the future, in some cases having committed an act to further that agreement
Conspiracy (civil) : an agreement between people to deceive, mislead, or defraud others of their legal rights or to gain an unfair advantage

4:38 PM
Or conspiracy about live news claiming that the building collapsed, and it actually did, but 20 minutes after?

If it's not proven or not considered proven by "normies", it's a "conspiracy THEORY"

sounds like malfunction of time-space :)

If it's proven or conspidered proven by "normies", it's a "conspiracy"
the distinction between both is purely arbitrary, though

it is proven, because news was actually release before the building collapsed and bbc actually apologised about this mistake

I know, I know
anyway, I don't consider "paranormal" in any way related to "conspiracy"
other than "normies" being unable to relate to both ;-)

4:40 PM
ok, no worries, you may create another channel for conspiracies
for me conspiracies has a lot in common

I'm new to this chat feature...

What about David Icke, he's known leader in conspiracy theories?
'a professional conspiracy theorist' as wiki describes him :)
his conspiracy theories have huge overlap with paranormal topics

I don't take David Icke, Alex Jones or Jeff Rense that seriously...

he had talk in London recently, hundreds of people attended

Too much BS mixed with the facts for my taste!

4:45 PM
It's difficult to differentiate which conspiracy theory is normal or not
We cannot know everything.
And limiting topics based on the taste won't work.
You're creating the proposal, but it's a broad subject and it won't be easily to explain that to everybody, what counts as normal conspiracy theory
He has a lot of theories about reptilians.
That dinosaurs were actually reptilians and very intelligent.

If you think his theory is not normal, then have a look this wiki page: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dinosaur_intelligence#Russell_.281982.29 (have a look picture on the right)
A model of the hypothetical Dinosauroid done by paleontologist, does it look like reptilian?

Still...

It's official version how Dinosauroid may look like, it's just another hypothesis.

if it doesn't involve "magic" or "ghosts", I don't think the term "supernatural" applies

4:52 PM
Ancient people would call smart phone a magic. Supernatural is something that we don't understand yet.

Such topics would be on topic in "fringe science", though -> area51.stackexchange.com/proposals/102268/fringe-science

which is alternative name for paranormal

Well, I don't think the term "paranormal" is a good term, then

> claimed occurrence of an event or perception beyond the scope of normal scientific understanding

Q: What exactly counts as paranormal?

murgatroid99Proposal: Paranormal When considering any particular phenomenon, how can I tell whether it is within this site's scope?

I never liked thzt term
I don't believe anything is beyond the scope of science

4:54 PM
For example: Remote viewing (RV), it was studied and CIA as positive results, it's not a magic then.

if it's real, it's within the scope of science
it's within the scope of science, it's not real

Currently 'science' word was taken by the West, they call everything 'science' which is compatible with their system.

not : within the scope of science doesn't mean proven
it merely means that science can study it

China has its own meaning of science.

sure

4:55 PM
Ancients had their own science also.

sure$

In Hong Kong and across Asia there are buildings where they hiring Feng Shui experts which is not accepted by mainstream science.

sure
and it may be real
it may not be

Also China accepts Chi energy as something normal, where West science not.

it's up to scientists to figure out whether it's real

4:58 PM
Ghosts are beyond science, they can be tested, but not using physical instruments which mainstream science provide, or at least how they using it. Because you can easily detect ghosts with EMF meters.

the scientific method is the ONLY reliable was to determine nonsense from reality
if they can be tested, they're not beyond science
just because scientists reject something, that doesn't mean it's beyond the realm of science
scientists are people
many have agendas
many make mistakes

Not true, because they tested Chi using scientific schema like here: youtube.com/watch?v=faFGvaiftEc

exactly my point

They've seen the results on their own eyes, but still they cannot explain it, therefore it doesn't exist on the paper.

so this means that Chi is within the realm of science
just because they can't explain it today, that doesn't mean they can't explain it in the future
We didn't know the earth was round a few centuries ago

5:00 PM
Chi is on the edge of measurement by using physical instruments.
Chi masters can demonstrate it: youtube.com/watch?v=5l_t70EG8E0

we din't know atoms existed a few centuries ago

But until science can provide some measurements which can be reproduced, it does not exist on the paper.

it was science that proved the earth was round and atoms existed

We did know, it's known for thousands of years.

if something exists, it exists no matter whether scientists are capable of detecting it
and just because scientists don't understand something today, that doesn't mean they don't understand it tomorrow

5:02 PM
Ancient Book of the Dead is the scientific book at that time written in BCE

Anyway, this video illustrates the principle I live by, with respect to acquiring knowledge -> youtube.com/watch?v=Yxfn5PFWYTk
and now I have to go, I'm afraid
we'll continue this another time

They won't understand it, because the reality is designed so smart, so we can go in circles all the time.
Emotions are basically frequencies, if scientists think the logical thinking is the only way (left brain), they won't be able to understand it, because only people who can unlock the right-part (which they think it's meaningless), basically their mind needs to operate on the right frequency, so they can understand it.
Not all things can have logical explanations.
Quantum isn't logical.
teleporting isn't logical as well, although they manage to do it: sciencealert.com/…

9:12 PM
yo
i was invited here
i proposed this area51.stackexchange.com/proposals/101350/beyond-earthlings long bac does ur proposal include that also???

9:27 PM
Yes, I think your proposal is very similar.
However I'm not quiet sure, whether you mean ET in terms of bacteria-like organisms, or extraterrestrials in terms of beings.
If you mean in terms of bacteria-like organisms, then I'm sorry for any confusion.
I've posted the clarification question here: discuss.area51.stackexchange.com/q/25432/61861
@VishnuJK
I had before Aliens proposal, but it was too narrow, so Paranormal is the broader one based on the previous experience, but still it struggling with some activity.
Beyond Earthlings is a bit ambiguous in my opinion.
@VishnuJK If you mean beings, then yes, Paranormal includes that as well.
