found an identify scroll, not carrying much interesting stuff though

btw, with a scroll of genocide of unknown BCU, a) you should have BCUed it before reading, b) kraken are often a wise choice (they're fairly dangerous, but only in water, so if it's cursed you can just run away and/or pelt them with rocks for the experience, if it's uncursed you wiped out a threat that might hurt later on); blessed has a different message so you can recognise that case if you pay attention

like charging me for the corpses of creatures I kill

meh, 6zm is hardly anything

there are few reliable ways to kill a shopkeeper in the early game though

the most common way to defeat them is to overpower them via superior stats

which will require a fairly late-game character

a wand of death can oneshot them, but if weak, you'd better not miss (or hit yourself with the rebound)

controlled polyself into a very powerful monster form works too

but getting the tools for that early is almost impossible and requires a lot of luck

the remaining option is a very powerful pet

(I don't think cats and dogs will cut it no matter how highly trained, but some more exotic pets might manage it)
