@Lawrence I think our conversation in main chat was relevant because how clear a question is depends partially upon the interpreter. There isn't really a universal standard of clarity.

Isn't it frustrating that many, if not all of our close reasons could apply to any given question? XP

@Tonepoet Clarity is in the eye of the beholder, I agree. It's a matter of whether and how far that perceived clarity should be shared, and whether it should be done preemptively. I'm setting to the view that provided it's an expression of what we believe to be the OP's intent, then we should encourage it (with the usual proviso of commenting to invite further edits or to rollback).

However, I think it would also be good form not to place an answer under a substantial edit, unless invited to do so. Otherwise, it can look very much like a rep grab.

Placing an answer in comments would be acceptable - anyone else can pick it up and run with it.
