7:43 AM
@RoryAlsop you are literally everywhere :P

8:16 AM
@RhysW lol - not all the time :-)

2 hours later…
10:20 AM
@RoryAlsop id be very worried if it was everywhere at all times, id need a new name for you :P

@RhysW Heh. I do currently have 30 SE chat tabs open in this window though...

Christ, im not sure i even visit that many SE's

1 hour later…
11:30 AM
@RhysW I seem to be a bit SE promiscuous. I only have a few over 10k, but 20 sites over 2k...

12:13 PM
@RoryAlsop i only have a single one above 5k, and thats only just barely !

@RhysW It's all about time, really. I have a chunk of time I set aside for mentoring, coaching, teaching etc - and Stack Exchange comes into that category

@RoryAlsop you must know a lot of different things to be able to coach mentor or tutor in all of these sites!

@RhysW it's actually interesting to see indication back (in the form of rep) where your knowledge is. My top sites are inextricably linked to my top interests and obs over the last 25 years or so:
so the top one is my day job, the next is my weekend job, the next is sort of all the time job :-)
Then the next few are my main interests
and the productivity one is a key aspect of all my jobs

12:54 PM
@RoryAlsop its a really nice broad set of stuff!
makes me feel like i do nothing with my free time :P
(which is pretty accurate tbh)

1:08 PM
@RhysW is one of the hazards of being old, and of having worked for Big-4 consultancies in the past. There I would regularly have 100 hour weeks. Now I have 40 hour weeks = loads of spare time

1:32 PM
@RoryAlsop I only have 37.5 hour weeks, just not that many hobbies :P Music is the one thing ive picked up recently to fill the time, and by recently i mean i started 2 days ago...
do you play many instruments?

1 hour later…
2:44 PM
@RhysW guitar, violin, piano mostly. I am a beginner on drums and sax

Jesus
that's a bunch of stuff
i've just started out with piano

3:02 PM
@RhysW I took violin about 40 years ago, but moved off onto guitars in secondary school. Now trying to get back into it. I mostly use piano for composing. And drums and sax are mostly for my kids, but I try :-)
I think piano is probably best for theory and composition, so you are probably off to a good start there
I'm just a huge rock/blues fanatic so I do love my guitars

I only really picked it because i type constantly for my job and home life, so figured the finger dexterity might translate xD
and i quite like classical piano scores

8 hours later…

If you "flip" all of the notes (so that a half step up becomes a half step down), then the G-B-D-F chord (which sounds nice) turns into the B-D-F-A chord
Well, I suppose I should say the A-F-D-B chord since the G "flips" to the A, the B "flips" to the F, etc
Question 1) What are these chords called? 2) Howcome the first one sounds nice but the second one doesn't? They have all the same intervals, so shouldn't they sound equally pleasing?
